1:36 IfYou remove those clamps yourself, under federal law, they’re yours. A 1957 SCOTUS decision says anything placed on a car is property of the owner. Recent court decisions have included boots and barnacles in that decision. They boot it, they gave the boot to you. Easy to get off with a battery powered sawzall too. I do it for friends and I have a large collection of scammers boots, all collected from mall parking lots. The malls in the Seattle area don’t boot drivers. Only scammers do.

Couldn’t find anything that corroborates this when it comes to traffic cops booting you. However most states have said commercial properties do not have the right to boot so it would appear true under those circumstances.
