I actually completely missed it the first time, but then I saw you comment and watched it back at like .25x speed to see all the drawings, and DEAR LORD. So good. And Grian’s insane laugh, the drawing with it? Chills.
@kitty 💜 It's lore from a previous smp Grian ran, called Evolution. the premise was that the players would move through the minecraft updates in the same world, starting from like. Early Beta? I forget which release they began with. As the series went on, they discovered that omniscient beings called Watchers were kind of. controlling their world, punishing and rewarding players for their behaviour and sending them on quests to reach new updates and so on. Out of character, the Watchers were a kind of stand in for the audience, but in the lore they're more like... insidiously "benevolent" gods. When the Evolutionists got far enough into the updates that they decided to take on the Ender Dragon, the Watchers interfered and had all of them fight the dragon separately. Grian, after defeating his dragon, was taken by the Watchers to become one of them. Out of character, it's just that he decided to leave the series and become a part of the audience, but in character... well. That's what the fantheorists like to play with. Notably, a few of the 3rd Life and Last Life players were also Evolutionists. Grian, of course, but also Martyn (InTheLittleWood), Jimmy (SolidarityGaming), BigBst4tz2, and PearlescentMoon. Martyn pulled on that old Evo lore with his Last Life series, referencing that Grian is a Watcher, which has prompted a whole lot of renewed interest in Watcher!Grian lore, suggesting that he's been a Watcher all through Hermitcraft and 3rd Life and honestly I adore it.
@kitty 💜 It’s actually part of a different server called Evolution or EVO for short. (I personally haven’t watched any of it.) The watchers are the, well w a t c h e r s. The watch everyone and everything. They took Grian to become a watcher and he later got out of it but yeaaah. For some reason it’s tied to a lot of different servers as well, idk why. Just is. That’s all I really know on the matter anyway
I’ve watched this so many times and I love how Grian constantly alternates between looking like an innocent little cherub and a conniving little demon. Such a perfect match for this chaotic gremlin. Oh, also, WATCHER.

I absolutely love how you portrayed it to appear that despite Scar owning Grian’s first life, it is like Grian is the mastermind, using Scar’s red life to do his killing. Also your animation and character designs for them is great! Edit: I slowed it down so I could see the shots that flashes to quickly and I love the reference to the Evo series as well!
Love the 'You're a monster' bit! The end of Martyn's Last Life series makes it all 10x better.
I love their duo during 3rd life. In normal media the "villain" would be upset that their help was trying to warn off people but Scar is just: "Yeah, your right, I do want to murder them all!" It is just perfect and you illustrated it wonderfully, Melloz Heist! And also the Grian watcher flash back... I wasn't expecting it but it's just the kind of dramatic flare that we get from grain boy and the rest of them! A great execution if I were to put it in better words. I wasn't expecting it but it was a great and amazing edition! The expressions are absolutely amazing too and I don't think I can emphasize enough how I love this animatic!
2:06 I love Grian's evil laughter even tho he's a green lifer it's clear he's like a backstabber choosing to side with a red lifer just because... Well.... Scar's a innocent lil bean.

And i love how he is drawn as a teen with no worries about taxes cuz his parents are doing all the hard work for him
Grian and Scar has been so chaotic and hilarious on third life and I love it and That watcher flashback from when scott called grian a monster is such a well done reference. I love everything about this.

I love 1:12 especially. I had not actually seen Grian's POV, but that whole bit of you showing Grian hyping up Scar in his mind as a now deranged killer, the visual deliveries when Scar reveals his nefarious plans involve cookie theft and cookie theft only... Brilliant.
LOVE this And the art is so, so good? I love the flashes where the facade of Grian's seemingly cheerful, innocently mischievous nature is torn away - particularly the 'please don't let me down Scar' thought frame, and the little Watcher flash. I just love your style.

It’s so weird thinking about it now, I know at 0:34 he says he’ll murder them all. We take that as a joke, like how is Scar going to kill people he kill himself more then others. Then it ends with that he wasn’t joking he did kill them all. It just takes time, charisma, distractions, and him keeping his cloths on to almost win.

Just, yes. There are no other words necessary. This is my new single favorite animatic. All the little details, the fluidity, your excellent choice of clips, references, it's amazing. KZhead brought this to my attention about twenty minutes ago, I've already watched it half a dozen times and sent it to my friend who also watched Grian. Beautiful.
I feel like in this Scar gets drawn hotter as the video progresses. First he's got clothes, then he takes them off, then there's just a cape with increasingly more abs.
