Bought A 23 Year Old Mountain Sled!
I have wanted to do this for a long time so we finally made it happen!
We maybe overpaid for this 2000 skidoo summit 137 but its in great shape! Other than the stupid runner that wrecked my ramp. I actually had a lot more fun today than I expected to. Will have to get a vintage ride organized at some point!

Ahhhh a real green guy can’t get himself in trouble to bad on a sled like this but a xm or gen4 it’s really easy for someone green to find themselves in a place they shouldn’t be

Awesome. This speaks to me. I got addicted last winter in upstate NY on a 2000 Indy 500. Now im in Alaska ripping an 05 summit 800. Maybe an homage to the rev soon?

Great content idea. Loved the sled geometry comparison. Really only need to see a gen 1 Rev now. Amazing seeing you ride it the way you did. Can't wait to get back on the mountain to add up some seat time.

Riding on something like that old out dated fossil is all I known or ever experienced. They seemed so advanced at the time. Hence why I like the channel so much. It’s worlds apart from what I used to do. I’m in constant “wow” mode watching these videos.
136 inch. Man that was the sled to beat back in the day. Runs decent too, those 700s were fantastic. Had a 151 inch high mark option back then. Great video, brings back my early mountain sled years, ear bleeding loud cams and 550 pound sleds lol. Good stuff.
I had a rmk 800 with a 151 track. One year newer than this. Fricken tanks. It took a lot to get that old girl on their sides lol

The new sleds are awesome technology wise and it's crazy what you guys can do on them but as far as videos go this is one of the best. I really enjoyed watching the older sled ripping the pow, would love to see more of it and possibly different brands and or years if possible. Either way another awesome video!
I think 144" was longest track back in the day... crazy that Cody Borchers, Geoff Kyle, and Ross Mercier used to do huge drops and jumps on those things with 6" of suspension travel
I had an 03 RMK with a 153 and I remember thinking mountain sleds couldn’t get any better than that lol

for model year 2000, the Summit 700 also came in a "Highmark" edition with a 151" track

in 2000 there was a 136" track, the only year that had it, 144" after that

THIS is the video I've been waiting for! After a 14 year hiatus, I'm finally getting back in to sledding after selling everything back in the 2008 housing crash. Got my Dads time capsule sled out of storage, 2003 Summit X Highmark Extreme 800 HO 159, with 444 miles on it. Gets lot of looks in the parking lot, thumbs up from the old guys (Jerrys), and blank stares from the Millennials lol. Your videos have been a huge inspiration to me, specifically the "No Snowmobile Has Gone Before". That one really convinced me it was time. Currently shopping for probably a Summit XM T3, seems to be the best bang for the buck right now. BTW, that sled probalby has the 136x15x1.75 track. Popular mod back in the day was SLP rail extensions, and a 151x16x2 track.
My friends dad had this sled back in 2000 and I rode it as a 9 year old kid a few times. Good to see that people had the brains to increase the track back then because engineers should know better than to put a 136" track and call it a "summit", geez........ I am also getting back into sledding after a 10 year break!
Nice seeing that older out... We run MXZ 670 98 & 99... They're beasts of motors and very easy to work on... Our winters don't justify $10,000 sleds...my son (15) and I have great fun on local trails, river rides ect... The new stuff seems like its heavily influenced by the European conditions, not as much grooming and more back country riding.. Nothing more appealing than a mint vintage sled....brings back the best memories...
Great video! Just goes to show you how much talent it took to ride those older chassis sleds compared to the ones made now. Not a single bow tie or hop over made on that chassis. Keep up with the great content. Ride Safe.

I’m actually riding a 2002 skidoo summit 700 for 4 years. It brings me so much joy watch you rip this sled around it.
I rode a 2002 Skidoo summit 800 with a 159 for 10 years. They are a handful. that was state of the art back then. I wish I could still ride. These newer sleds are amazing.
I was smiling ear to ear this entire video! Great idea and it was even better seeing you handle it in the mountains. It would be great to see some modifications done to it to suit the habitat better.

I still can't get used to the look of the new machines. Technology is so much better today but yet the look of those old 90's Skidoo and Polaris cabs is for me so much better.

Good stuff man. I've been watching your videos for the last 2 weeks when I stumbled on your channel shortly after buying my first sled in 20 years (2012 switchback assault 800 144"). Coming from last riding a 1994 Supersport 440 121" to this is crazy feeling haha. Luckily the 20 year break makes it feel like a fresh start! This was a fun little change of pace of a video from all the others that I've been completely engrossed in. Thanks for the new content!!
would love to see this turned into a "series" with a umber of different sleds. even trying out a 600 skidoo summit from the 2010s or a pro rmk for the same time period
Love the content. Brings back great memories of riding with my brother. He had a 583 Summit, I was on a 600 Powder Special. We rode those things hard and had every bit as much fun on those sleds!

It’s amazing how much narrower the newer sleds are and actually handle better. Also very impressive driving Matt with no carbides.
I bought the first Ski Doo Highmark 151 from the Tuppers in Idaho! 2000? 136 was considered a long track back then. I started out on a 1974 Arctic Cat Cheetah as a kid. And had a Ski Doo 5500 Blizzard in high school! Be safe!👍

Awesome seeing some affordable sleds ripping and you are still living every minute of it! The odd mixed in low cost sled segment would be well received along with the repair and adjustments related to the older sleds.

Awesome video Matt🤙 I grew up riding my dad's 04 king cat and rode it for almost 15 years. This is my first season on a new sled and it's so much different! Old iron's will always have a spot in my heart!

This made me feel so good about my first sled ever that i just got. It's a 99 xc 700 with a 144 track on it so seeing you do this makes me feel like I'll be able to somewhat keep up with my buddies newer sleds

Pullin out the ole iron! So cool, I just got my dads 1996 Thundercat 1107 triple running for the first time in 15 years. Went for a rip close to home got back and seen I had 1107 miles on the ole 1107cc!

This video brings back memories of when I was little riding the old vertical escape and the old freestyle in exactly the same zones. Zero suspension and the stupid loud can. Makes me want to bring the old iron out this week on my trip to Blue river!

Great video!!!! I looked for one of these sleds for a while and ended up making something similar out of an 2002 MXZ 600. 136 track, Boss seat, little bit of a bar riser...good to go and still manages to get me into trouble from time to time

Hey Matt, Thanks for sharing! I had a 2000 MXZ 670 H.O. with a 121x1.5. It was a fun machine and had bags of power! I took it to Valemount a few times. Too short for the really deep stuff but the 1.5 track got me in and out of most places.
