  • The fact that these create a mesh is really impressive.

  • At one time BG Electrical were seen as the cheapest of the budget range, both in price and quality. But boy, have they come a long way since then. Luceco - being one of their brand names make some really excellent kit. This downlighter range being a case in point. Personally i have never had an issue with BG products and fitted them on a number of occassions - without reservation, especially if the client was on a tight budget. Plus i have very rarely had to return to any item installed from their range. These downlighters are so inovative both in features and smarts that you'll be hard pressed to find anything - at this price point. to beat them. Brilliant job Luceco and thanks for sharing Joe.

  • Another great video - thank you guys! One question about these, I know that these work with an on/off switch but do they work with a dimmer switch? I can see an advantage to being able to fix the colour and warmth via the app, but then also to be able to turn them on and adjust the brightness without having to get your phone out. I know that this is a shortcoming similar products and wondered if this is the case here as well. Thanks again!

  • Just because I don’t like them doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t buy them. Comes down to personal choice at the end of the day.

  • The data requirements for this light over WiFi are insignificant and NOT a concern. The real reason for the mesh network is to give increased reliability over distance to ensure more reliable control over the light. The protocol being used is almost certainly TCP which means if the network gets too busy, the packets of data controlling the light will be retransmitted and eventually get through, just with a slightly greater delay. Video streaming tends to use the UDP protocol and these packets will be dropped by the network as there is no retransmission mechanism.

  • Hi there. Nice Video. As I'm already set up with smart lights elsewhere in the house (mostly wifi plugs) which runs on the Smart Life APP (Tuya App) Do you know if the Luceco downlights will work with my current App as I'd rather not operate two apps just for lights. Thank you

  • Ok, so how do you control this if you don't want to use a phone? I'm simply talking switching on/off here, nothing fancy. Is a normal power switch useable?

  • Hi, I've not done any smart lighting yet but would like too. How do these smart lighting systems integrate with traditional light switches?

    @dmlelectrics8990@dmlelectrics89902 жыл бұрын
    • A traditional light switch will turn them off and when you turn them on again at the switch they'll go to whichever mode they were left in. 👍

  • I have similar robus products in my own house - the main issue I find is that when you use the convential light switch to turn on and off the devices they go back into pairing mode? Is there a way this can be stopped in the product? For example locking out the factory reset after setup? Would be great to know - it causes a lot of confusion in my house when the in-laws come round haha

    @kevinpaterson4859@kevinpaterson48592 жыл бұрын
    • Solutions: Don’t let the in laws visit 😂 We have the full review coming out soon let’s see if Joe addresses this aspect.

      @efixx@efixx2 жыл бұрын
    • @@efixx haha that’s one solution! - would be great if they could just operate like a normal switch when in the actual room rather than using the app or voice services - I’m sure this is something that could be sorted out in a software or firmware update hopefully

  • Can you add a wall dimming to these outside of the app

    @McrueProductions@McrueProductions Жыл бұрын
    • No. The reason is as follows. Wall dimmers chop the signal up and in doing so control the power to the light bulb, whether that be incandescent, fluorescent or LED. This type of light, the LEDs are not directly fed from the current from the electrical cables going into the light, they employ microprocessor control to adjust the signals fed to the individual LEDs inside the luminaire.

  • I bought four of these to install in a customer's bathroom after watching this vid. I found the app, configuration, and connectivity are very poorl. The reviews of the app on the Google Playstore really bear this out. I thought I'd take a chance after reading the reviews but really wish I hadn't. I had to uninstall the lights and return them. Sorry guys.

    • I have some superb colour adjustable light strips under WiFi control and a mobile phone app. Multiple strips within a room. I love it. I can adjust the colour and brightness and have a myriad of effects. Pre-stored customisable colours, and even scenes which comprise a number of lights at different colour and brightness settings. Want a white light? You got it. Want to dim the lights to low brightness red for watching films? You got it. Just buy a cheap mobile phone, use wireless charging with a mains time switch and you've got yourself a complete remote control unit for your WiFi enabled lighting and home cinema system, without having to mess about with your main phone. Or you can stick to your single white main light in the room, which is on or off and at best dimmable in white only. I know which I prefer.
