  • Still can’t believe this is the first IMDB credit for Dominic. He was fantastic, and I bought stock in his career about midway through watching the movie. Dude has the chops to be a major star.

  • I think Paul articulated one of the hardest things about being a teacher that nobody ever talks about. You struggle & worry & sweat & care for these kids to try & help them be successful and then they leave your school. And 95% of them, you never see them or hear from them ever again.

  • Her explanation of how she researched and portrayed grief is fascinating. The Christmas party scene really got me in the gut.

    • @cathybruce10 Yep. That scene nearly destroyed me. When Da'Vine Joy's character turns around from the kitchen sink and says, "He's gone"...with such a shudder of absolute despair and finality was perhaps what won her the Oscar. I cannot even begin to imagine what it's like to lose a child. And she truly made us feel that agony and despair in such an extremely visceral, raw way. High caliber performance for sure.

    • Same here! Of course anything Giamatti does is always brilliant. Like literally everything in my opinion, but the characters and production on this movie were just beautiful. I really thought movies with this feel were dead. Whoever gave the green light on this made the right decision.

  • Thank you to this interviewer for an incredibly intelligent, informed and insightful conversation. She asked fantastic questions, let the actors speak without interrupting and “heard” their answers.

  • Amazes me when they shoot scenes out of order, but when they stitch the whole film together, it feels so linear like a live play.

  • For me, Dominic reminds me in so many ways even appearance of a young man who I worked with for a couple of years and became friends. The age gap is almost identical to that of Paul and Dominic as well. I absolutely love everything in this movie. Story. music, cinematography, acting, actors, setting etc. Everything. It's become like a cult film to me. I watch it on a loop. I could say so much more.

  • Her style of interviewing is isolation of each character and actor. It is more of 3 separate interviews.

  • Very thoughtful interview. I’m curious though, looking at the rooms each of them is in, they all look like hotel rooms. Is that standard? Every time I see any of these interviews it looks like they take place in a different hotel room.

    • Since it’s during a press, they probably are in hotel rooms because they have to do press and interviews in different states, countries, etc. They could also just be at their homes and their rooms look like hotel rooms lol.

  • good movie .. poor ending..Giamati's character knew he was getting fired . He should have called out the mother for not being reachable or responsible. Abandoning her child over Christmas in favour of her new man was despicable Angus could have gone skiing -- but Mom wasn't answering the phone. The kid wanted desperately to be with family at Christmas. And the father was the parent he could be with. She needed to be told off and it was disappointing that didn't happen
