About the movie:
The Contractor is a 2022 American action thriller film directed by Tarik Saleh in his English-language film debut. The film stars Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs, Eddie Marsan, J. D. Pardo, Florian Munteanu, and Kiefer Sutherland. Filming began in Europe in October 2019. It also filmed in Fort Bragg and wrapped at the end of 2019.
The Contractor was released in theaters and on-demand in the United States on April 1, 2022, by Paramount Pictures and STXfilms. The film received mixed reviews from critics, grossing $2.1 million at the box office.
Plot:
Sergeant First Class James Harper, a decorated Green Beret, is involuntarily discharged from the Army due to his use of illegal steroids to treat a debilitating knee injury. Facing financial ruin, he contacts his friend Mike who works with a private military company under the command of fellow veteran Rusty Jennings.
Harper is receiving lucrative offers from similar firms, but feels a sense of duty to his country. Mike tells him that Rusty runs clandestine operations for the Department of Defense. Harper agrees to meet Rusty after seeing Mike's opulent house. Harper signs on with Rusty and the team for an operation in Germany. As a sign of good faith, Rusty gives Harper's family $50,000 to help clear their debts.
Harper spends most of his tour surveilling a Middle Eastern scientist named Salim. After analyzing the data, Rusty informs the team that Salim is working for Al-Qaeda and developing a bio-agent. He tells the team they have been given permission to raid Salim's laboratory and retrieve all of his research data and then dispose of Salim. The team easily accesses the lab and acquires the data. Mike orders Harper to finish Salim, who protests that he is just a scientist working on a cure.

I don’t understand how they struggled with sidearmed police but managed to pick off the commando reinforcements left and right with ease.
That's because you are applying logic to a "movie" that had very little logic or reasoning at any stage of development.
@@davidmurphy1207😂
I don't understand why the police didn't use long rifles.
@@MikeC-dj4iu german police doesnt usually carry long rifles.
That's why the movie had such bad ratings. Inaccuracies, bad acting (regardless of having big name actors), bad story, etc. I mean the idea was great. Execution.....not so much
Right at the start of the vid, where they roll up and exit the van silently then loudly shut the door lol.
just gonna post the same thing :)
I totally missed that. Hilarious
Don't forget the NODS while walking down a very well lit street. Way to ruin a $40k kit.
@stephenclark6961 they have auto shut off if it's too bright
@Douglas-jn7bj well I'm not rich enough for a $40k set up, but I run PVS-14s and have NEVER heard of such contraption...also, not sure how that would work if the goggles are still hanging in front of your eyes, but maybe someone with experience on the ARGUS platform can chime in. (At least I think those are ARGUS)
Wearing NODS while the whole area is lite up like Las Vegas.. LOL
I forget what the official term is, but its exaggerated lighting so the audience can actually see what’s going on, in reality/within the media’s continuity it is actually much darker, but if we saw it 1:1 for what was actually being portrayed we wouldn’t see much of anything
It's dark in the woods. The building may be blacked out any moment. I'm just surprised that apparently the bandits did not want to kill the police and fired suppressive shots, but for some reason officers decided to fight to the death and even killed someone in total darkness. I mean, it all seems ridiculous in the aggregate.
With zero PEQ-15 or MAWL attached to their weapons. SMDH why are so many civilians so stupid ?
@@Tony-. Most officers swear an oath to fight criminals until theyre dead.
Bullshit.
I figured it was the Airsoft guys trying to look Tough
Why do people always assume an interest in tactics to be "trying to look tough." Tactics is an art. Readiness, commitment.
@@moonch0w Yes indeed, and usually, nothing like what its shown in these clown movies. This was just tacticool, not in any way tactical. 3 (plus driver, 4) geared to the teeth PMCs vs 4-8 pistol tottin cops and they couldnt defeat them...... AT NIGHT, WEARING QUAD NODS VS NAKED EYES. You cant make this up.... Tactics are an art, but it requires artists...and there are very few artists.
@@UEemperor I absolutely disagree here. Everything was done correctly however I did see some minor errors when clearing rooms. But then again keep in mind, this is a movie and these aren't actual operatives. So it's passable.
Please touch grass my nigga @@moonch0w
@@moonch0w See the most important thing i look for in these vids isnt how well they perform the "choreography of tactixxx", how they cleared this one corner or had their finger off the trigger etc. Those are details no ordinary civvie will know of. What im looking for is a believable enough scenario to get behind. The dudes went all tacticool against unarmed dudes, until they faced resistance, at which point they failed..... miserably. Ye its a movie, and these actors/scene is about tacticool pew pew, nothing else. Aka, no art here, just trying to look tough.
I thought this was created by KZheadrs or a web series, no it’s an actual movie. 😂
That explains why the operators are so skinny compared to how a lot of them normally are.
@@PolymurExcelhow do actual special operators look? You expect them to look like Ronnie Coleman just because they're in special operations?😂😂 Your average special operator looks like an average human being, they're not gonna look the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest

No..... really!?
What kind of security should our high level research lab have? meh, one half asleep security guard with a key that opens every door should do the trick.
Welcome to the actual reality lol
I have been in security for 14 years..... That's basically how it works. Lol
It was in Germany not America
You’d be surprised how accurate that part is. I worked in security, it’s very under paid and poorly staffed and trained. A lot of people prefer night shifts because they can fall asleep
@@h1inc816 Yeah, very true.....I used to a night shift supervisor..... Keeping my guys awake was a big part of that job.
6:05 The elite commando calmly continuing to advance into the line of fire with zero cover while their teammates are dropping like flies. They try to make everything look realistic and then they pull off shit like this
I know someone would say this. Atleast give them riot shield to make it a bit more realistic
Yeah that part ruined for me, prior to that it was minor mistakes and then this
even the normal cops have 0 react to their men falling lmao
Just like founding fathers intended!
arent they just cops
I've literally never heard of this film until being tagged by the KZhead algorithm lol. For real though, it's semi-hilarious how much this scene is every LARPer's dream--including my own lol 😂
Your dream is to get bodied by cops in a firefight? 😂
This started off really good. They used tactics well and professionally when it came to the lab. I don’t understand how they can show that level of expertise when in CQB clearing but when it comes to them actually getting shot at, they all die. All that gear and all that training for what? To be killed by some random cops with pistols only? Come on dude. It's the middle of the night, you guys are rockin suppressed Mk18s and Hk416s, you guys are in the dark with NODs, all you gotta do is go prone behind a tree and they literally can't see or hit you dude, come on.
They won't be able to hide, they'll be given away by a huge spotlight that someone left on in the middle of the forest.
@@skrill1135 Hiding doesn't matter. It's extremely hard to fight someone in a forest at distance when they go prone. That is very basic, even some airsoft kid could get that. You add the fact that it's night and they're firing back, those policemen might as well have been shooting at shadowy figures on the ground that are sending bullets whizzing past them. That's if these contractors were actually smart. What a joke.
@@SweetGem3581 For forgot even in the dark you can see them clear as day from the muzzle flashes. NOT moving while engaged was kinda stupid though. Camera crew probably couldn't be ars*d to build multiple dollies or something ;)

Nothing about burning their man made sense. He knew nothing.about the drives content thar could screwhis employers. He had no clue the Merc company was free lancing off contract from the .gov. All they had to do was pick him up and pay him and if he asked questions sya, "we turned everything over to our contacts in NSA they are takng it from here. We will call you back when the next job is ready."
Spoiler alert It was competitor company which sent mercs to destroy science dept in other company.
I thought the burning man was the security guard ?
This didn't make much sense. - SF have 4 man fireteams this one only had 3, the missing 4th man is obvious as to why they come unstuck. Why would their contracting agent only send 3 shooters when all of their traning is based on 4 man fireteams? - They struggle to put down the normal police force and take casualities from police handguns but have no issue putting down actual SWAT teams. - They set fire to the building so why bother killing with chemical agents? And they didn't un-ziptie the security guard. - The civilian police had no nvg's but were able to headshot with a pistol from a hundred meters away? (X) to doubt.
This wasn’t an SF team, it was a group of former SOF/SF guys doing don’t speak about shit operations above or with the presidents knowledge. Hence them burning a science lab. It’s not a bad watch, the guy who survives was a GB if I’m not wrong and was honorably discharged and hit up a friend who wasn’t in the game anymore, but rolling with some hitters. Not a bad watch. But it was very illegal fucked up shit lol.
I was shocked when they just opened fired on the local police.
Yea I was surprised they didn’t just stay hidden and have them talk to the lady in the van. Like I’m 99% sure non of those cops would’ve seen them
do they know fire is only enough to destroy a server but not the information it contains 😅
Strange little tangent. The police officer shouting in 5:00 is shouting with a bavarian accent (frankonian maybe) but definitely not a Berlin based accent. Not that it is impossible that a police officer couldn't be living in Berlin but coming from Bavaria, but that just threw me off.
I am unemployed political scientist. 4:35 - in such situation, Police shall be pushing forward in purpose of take a road as first goal. It is about military tactic. If your convoy or convoys will take a road, then you can be shelling positions of enemy in forest from many angles, not just from one or two directions. This is how you are using your superiority in numbers.
Lol, the operator with Night vision on, but no lazer on his rifle 😂😂😂😂
3 guys flowing like water. Awesome.
Very good cqb work.
No ballistic shield on the SEK/MEK guys? No flashbangs flying before even any engagement took place? Yeahsure. Someone didn't do their homework.
just by this clip alone I can tell this movie is for people who want action but no reason or logic lol no way basic cops took out guys in full gear while the reinforcements were cannon fodder
Now there's a fun job to wake up for!!😂
okay but like, suppressors dont give off flashes. Theyre design to mitigate the muzzle flash, unless you're using so too much grain
yes they do
The first batch of police in squad cars would have broken in seconds. The moment they're facing automatic weapons, patrol police are entirely out of their depth and need to wait for backup. But conversely, the second wave of law enforcement with real fighting weapons would have just mowed everyone down in a few seconds at that range. A better scene would have had the characters blow straight through the first cars, get in the van, start driving, then get stopped by commandos manning a cordon. The two characters who are supposed to die are killed at ~100 yards, which makes it believable that the other two can escape detection. Filmmakers are apparently allergic to combat at more than water balloon ranges.
I love how Hollywood has insane budgets but never use the local sirens. I guess it always needs to sound familiar for their US viewers. What a joke
Everything is just stupid wrong… everything!
if the guard just lock his door, everything will be ended smoothly, alarm when off
Best combat scene? I saw this and immediately thought of anyone on the other side of those windows.
I'm guessing the director gave his job to his Call of duty pro son to do it...but if yer drunk and have some time to kill while your tacos are hitting you, it's worth the shit...
Good thing their EoTech have mirror glass in the front so no one can secretly scan their retina through the optic
They must be blind by how much light is exposing their nvgs
It is very stupid to take a shockproof helmet to storm an object and put on an NVD in a lighted place, especially in a building with light. Why split up when cleaning the premises and why all 3 people were sent to clean up, and not the whole opera group. Moreover, why don't they keep an eye on the sectaries and walk at a brisk pace (shouldn't they have cleaned the building more thoroughly), why do they follow each other on the street, shouldn't they spread out? (but although this is a controversial issue). 3:29 And that the person is near the exits, why does he stick in the phone (or what he has), and not make sure that no one comes.
That's Astrid by the van!

Airsoft gear 😂 I love it !
I loved this movie.. most people hating on this coz its apaerently "bad action" which i agree some parts could have been improved.. however.. i loved this movie as a whole based on the overall idea that contractors isnt all just action and fun.. it actually can be a very long and boring life.. weeks of recon.. sleepless nights and crappy hotels.. loved that aspect as it is accurate to real life contractors
This is " The Contractor" starring Chris Pine. NOT the Movie of the same title, starring Wesley Snipes.
Best Combat Scenes - literally no combat in the whole first half of the video
This was a somewhat hard watch
So why the quad nods when there are streetlights!?
A very controversial scene, I would not say that it was staged under the watchful supervision of a military consultant or expert. The group should not glow in open space, this is a critical mistake. Buildings are usually illuminated and equipped with cameras, so you can move around one at a time and only in the shadows. Putting a guard on the ground in order to pick him up and use him as cover is not a good idea. The fighters must occupy the entire flight of stairs, moving along the wall; if there is silence, then with signs they will let you know where to move and where the contact is. Not the best example of tactical action within a group.

😂😂😂😂well said braa I saw it the time they leave the guard room door open and said here we go again 😂😂😂another one😅😅😂😂
One more question. How come their rifles were having muzzle flash despite being fitted with suppressors?
Anyone else think he sounds like Philip Graves?
They had a choice between PEQ15s or quad nods before departure, budget cannot afford both. Lol those NVGs are too expensive 😂
wouldn't be shocked if those NODS are those dummy prop ones that sell for like $60 on IDOGEAR store here in Lazada(Asian equivalent of Amazon)
so uhm, where did I miss the commands to the security guard to come out turn around follow them and not scream out without a gag in?....pop to the triangle, cut the finger, and be in 3 sets of legs move faster than 4
They should know better than to not establish fire superiority

People who say they're using NODs on lit areas have never used Gen2+/Gen3 Autogating WP, AP, or actual NVGs ever. It'd be more realistic if they used clip-on thermals along with the NODs since they want to look out for enemies.
I smell Escape from Tarkov vibes
