The Xu Xiaodong Match From 2017 That Got Stopped (ft. Ma Baoguo)

Xu Xiaodong vs Ma Baoguo. This is the Xu Xiaodong 徐晓冬 match from June of 2017 that got stopped for not exactly clear reasons. It was supposed to take place in a Shanghai location and both sides had appeared on camera to agree to all the rules and were ready to start. From research online, it appears that self-proclaimed Tai Chi Xingyi master Ma Baoguo (Xu's scheduled opponent) was in some ways directly or indirectly responsible for the match getting stopped right before it was supposed to happen. Apparently. Ma's nephew called the authorities right before the match and that's why the match was shut down for being an apparent violation of "fire safety hazards." Also, Ma Baoguo did eventually step up against another MMA hobbyist: • Tai Chi Master Who Ran...

Why is it so exceptionally rare for TMA types to evolve in a positive direction rather than stagnate or deteriorate? of all the kung Fu schools around the world and the countless people who have dedicated their lives to perfecting it. Why is it all so useless?

Once they started taking everything taught to them as gospel they lost. Can't tell what works or works for you if you're not sparing and every drill is done with extreme compliance. Also, the Chinese revolution kinda neutered Chinese martial arts. Chinese government wasn't fond of people learning real shit and be able to do what they did.

I've seen a few videos of him demonstrating his art, and from what I can gather, he seems to be a very competent and combat-oriented master. Although I have little faith in the majority of 21st century Kung fu masters, this guy is one of the few masters I've seen whom I have high hopes for in the ring. If and when the fight does happen, it would be great if you could release a video covering the full fight.

  • I do not think Ma ever ran away from Xu Xiao Dong. A few years ago, Ma and Xu agreed to fight in the public and someone mysteriously called the police to stop the match. It has been widely speculated that Ma called the police to avoid being beaten. However, I think it was Xu Xiao Dong who called the police at that time to avoid a possible backlash from beating down a man who was over 65 years old at that time. One evidence is that Xu recently openly challenged and waitedfor Yi Long at the Zheng Zhou (郑州) train station and again MYSTERIOUSLY someone called the police to intervene and gave him some verbal admonishment with regard to his inappropriate behavior in the public. In both cases, it made Xu Xiao Dong look like a victim in the oppressive Chinese regime and help him to boost his image as fighting against the fake martial artists. Even Yi Long remarked that that incidence was totally made up and publicized by Xu Xiao Dong and his cult followers. As to Ma's Tai Chi Level, I checked out his tutorials and demonstration. His taichi or XIng Yi Fist movement are quite strange and made me doubt he had any solid martial arts background .His sword demonstration is a joke. However, he appears to have some training unlike Tian Ye(田野), but I doubt he completed any rigorous training under any one renowned master.

Because of Xu’s initial fight, that lead to the govt banning a bunch (8) practices for kungfu practitioners: conferring rankss, Calling yourself master or successor, organizing matches, creating styles, accepting apprentices, making money from accepting students, creating certificates for students / coaches / judges, Or making public statements.

  • I think when ya get to a certain age, the agility and ability declines. They have every right to claim their mastery, but for the most part like most athletes do, should retire from competition and stop claiming the fame. This is like going up to Reggie Jackson and challenging him to a home run competition.
