Ya. The year 2012 and 2013 was so good
It really goes to show you that when Serena, Sharapova, and Azarenka were the big three it was for a reason. They were making all the finals and mostly would only lose to each other for 3 years. They were really better than the rest of the competition.
2012 & 2013 were crazy good !! Vika, Maria & Serena at their best was really something else.

I'm here for prime Serena 2012-2016. Why the jump to 2019? 2012 was crowded: Azarenka AO, Sharapova FO, Serena WC, Serena OG, Serena USO. 2013: Azarenka AO, Serena FO, Serena USO. 2015: Serena AO. So, Serena won five GS and an OGM while battling the #1 or fending off the #2.
I think the "jump" was simply because 1 & 2 never played each other for about 3 years at a time, as tough as it is to believe.
This was such a cool throwback, thanks for creating it! Serena, the big 1, and Serena-Vichka-Masha trivalry of the big 3, with all of their epic battles 2011-2016 were something else. Then Masha had doping scandal. Then Vichka had a baby with an idiot who nearly ruined her. Then Serena started a fam, and eventually tried a comeback for that elusive 24th slam. They had more battles in them, but that's life for you.. The years after 2016 were a bit of a shitshow on WTA until Barty and 1ga showed up! The most recent final 1ga-Sabalenka showed level of the WTA's most recent big 3, and is a good hope for future! To many more epic battles 💪✌️🌛

Felt the excitement in the trivalry betw Serena, Maria, and Vika, Once they played the Pliskova v Barty clips, lost the mojo, I dont feel the same excitement.
yeah, but at least with Swiatek-Sabalenka (and Rybakina) that level is returning, even if it will never be able to equal it, the final in Madrid, and the AOs for example.

You have to check all the rivalries between Graf-Seles-Vicario-Sabatini, Graf-Hingis-Davenport-Seles-Capriaty, Graf-Serena, Hingis-Serena-Venus-Davenport-Capriaty-Seles-Pierce, Henin-Clijster, Serena-Henin-Venus-Clijster, Sharapova-Serena-Venus, Sharapova-Henin-Mauresmo-Clijster, Ivanovic-Jankovic-Sharapova-Zvonareva, Sharapova-Radwasnska-Wozniacki-Azarenka-Kvitova-Serena. All are supreme battles.

this is why it annoys me when ppl say “maria and serena is no rivalry”. in terms of h2h, obviously not. but maria and serena were fighting for the same trophies. when serena beat maria, it was more than likely in a final or semi final. if maria was winning tournaments it was becaude serena was knocked out early. ppl dont give maria enough credit in her career, obviously the drug scandal is mostly part of that, but in an era with serena and azarenka, henin, venus williams she won 5 majors, did a career slam, and a silver medalist, fed cup champion. and in all of that she struggled with injury basically her entire career. if serena was ina different era its safe to say maria would have 10+ grand slams and theres not a doubt about it.
True, and few acknowledge that Maria is the only Grand Slam champion to come back (and win more Grand Slams) after shoulder surgery. Her serve was not the reliable weapon it had been before it, yet she improved other aspects of her game to compensate for the multiple double faults. Maybe if she had skipped smaller tournaments the way Serena did, she wouldn't have aggravated her injuries - but we'll never know. In any case, her matches are a treat to watch.

Is it really rarely after 2015 AO, it's been so many without top 2 players vs each other, that's terrible for tennis. Maria-Vika-Serena when at their peak make the holy trinity of tennis when playing each other thousands of time in quater, semi and finals of a lots of tournament. 2012 when both maria and vika has reached 9 finals of each , serena won 7 titles of 7 finals she played, is the incredible years of tennis of 2010s , the year of decade.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT CAN BE REPEATED LIKE HOW VIKA SERENA AND VENUS DID BIG 3 FOR A REASON

Omg… this video is so disappointingly incomplete without the mention of Australian open final ,2018 ,between Wozniacki (then no 2)(Winner) vs Halep (then no 1). The match was so iconic and special in many ways. The very first (and ‘only’ so far) time two top most players,without a major title at that point in their respective careers,were locking horn with each other for the first elusive major. I’m sorry but I humbly request to take this video down and re upload after an edit…. If possible!😞

Sharapova lost all finals in this video except Stuttgart. I always felt that vika was far better than Maria as she always made things difficult for Serena, she deserved some more slams
Sharapova by far the best against vika. Since beating serena is not the achievement u can call in stats book. Sharapova a career slam holder what about vika? 🤣😂
Look up their H2H - Sharapova leads 8-7 against Azarenka, winning the last four of their matches. Yes, Azarenka had the overall edge on hard courts due to better movement, but Sharapova owned her on clay. I guess Vika's game is mostly suited for hard courts, whereas Maria adapted to different surfaces better (evidently, having a career Grand Slam).

This is great stuff. There was excitement back then with Azarenkia, Sharapova, Williams. Ivanovic was also an enjoyable player to watch. Nowdays women's tennis tends to be soooo boring. I mean Swiatek is good and all but no. No comparison. Barty's tennis was also boring in my opinion.
Swiatek is overrated, she turned into ashes when she tends to meet consistent power hitters like bara, elena and penko.

I believe if Barty didn't retire and Osaka was still in her glory days, Swiatek-Barty-Osaka would be the next big 3 of women tennis. At the moment, i'm expecting Swiatek-Sabalenka-Rybakina could be the one to watch.

And if you say Swiatek is not-at-all great like those big three, let me ask you at Iga's age, what did Vika achieve? Don't forget that Vika won her first grandslam and was a no.1 player at the age of 23. Iga is still young, time will tell.
