Colours does matter when I'm in college I wore a T-shirt which is a shade of red (lighter) and fit is fine. And I saw a sudden attraction of others.
It's not about the color it's about you. Black looks great on me and I get choosing signals from wearing it. It's a matter of wearing what makes you look good and that is dependent on how you look without clothes. I have light brown skin and black hair combed to the back (back and sideways sort of) and a beard with a Latino kinda look (being North African). This dude is white with messy hair and no beard. He has to wear a t-shirt with that skater/Bieber type of vibe.

Shade is important, I'm sure if they picked a more brown or darker shade of red, not a stop sign, he would have looked better. Same with green, darker green looks great and works with all hair colors but bright green looks like u in a st Patrick's parade

Best way is to find your color palette boys. Look at your eye and hair color and find the color list that match your colors. There’s only really 4 color seasons so it’s isn’t too difficult to figure out Look at the veins in your skin to find the undertone colors and there you go. Just found this out and it’s already made an improvement

Something I figure out throughout life is your appearance in a way that clothes fit you. Goes a long way. To a certain degree if a person gets cares about what you wear and it’s only willing to date you for that reason it’s not the person for you.

The core of any social interaction, let it be a simple job interview to dating set up, is to be is to show how approachable you are. Especially when you first meet someone. Wearing dark colours must be sexy at first or something but as a man who have tried out most colours on, I will say darker colour distance have the detrimental effect of showing a mysteriousness, which eventually reducess the likeness, trustability and approachability due to that. And wearing dark colours is the real definition of "I'm trying really hard to be sexy and please someone pick me".
