You have facial features for a Hollywood actor.
One feature that I think wasn't mentioned is that with the design of the ZV-1F the placement of the head mount where you could attach a selfie stick or tripod is not in the way of the battery compartment like it is in the ZV-1. It's a small detail, but I think it's important to add.
Wow I didn’t know about that I can’t wait to check it out I rented one from Lensrentals so hopefully I’ll be putting out a couple more videos about the F do you have the zv1?

Just got my zv1 a few days ago and was kind of scared that I might regret getting it now😂 glad I got the zv1 tho, thanks for the review!
Nice comparison. Wish they had kept the internal ND and same focus system but so far I’m enjoying the zv1F for vlogging.
Thanks a lot for clearing doubts in my mind! Just got my zv1f from Australia, and now I can use it confidently!
Glad that it helped you. I also appreciate you taking the time to comment and let me know. How are you enjoying your camera so far?
Thank you for the straight to the point comparison between the 2 camera models. It really helped. Just subscribed. Thanks mate!
Thanks Carmela. Do you have either of these?
one important advantage of the new version is easier handling with a gimbal. With the old one, if you zoom it messes with the gimbal balance! On a different topic, I found myself using the built in ND filter a lot. So now I'm having a second thought about the new version
I think there are some new options on how to put a nd filter on the ZV-1F
Question for you, if the camera is on the gimbal and you flip the screen out does it mess up the balancing? I would think that it would but I'm not sure
@@johnrsherwood I had a cheap one and it was very sensitive! But depending on the gimbal they can tolerate to some extent
Really great comparison, thank you! I shoot almost all of my vlogs on the ZV-1 and have been hoping for an update offering the ability for a wider shot. Shame about the lack of ND as I think having one built in is a real must. For me, the flexibility of having the ability to zoom and the ND is better - but here's hoping a ZV-2 is on the cards with something like a 16-70mm lens!
Thank you so much for the insight and encouragement. I really appreciate that, Loz.
Why dont buy a ZV E10? All your need is covered!
@@moritz-zee cause kit lens is bad and other lenses cost so much
Which do you prefer?
Hey! New subscriber here 👋 Thank you for being so detailed about these Sony models. I do have a question regarding audio input, specifically what you described around 8:30 mark; Since there is no available audio interference playback compatibility, I'm thinking of buying a secondary microphone in order to achieve that capability. And perhaps when editing content I can just stack the audio from the external microphone over the visuals. Because as you said, nobody wants to film amazing footage to come home and find out there is no audio whatsoever. I would love a recommendation or perhaps a link to one of your vids that go over that topic if you have any. I am a huge audio head, I do music production at the moment and use the Scarlett 2i2 audio interface with my computer. Would like to have the same, or relatively close, quality as that while filming on the ZV-1F whether it is the attachable Sony boom mic or a stand alone microphone. To summarize, I want to hear the audio as I am filming. Thank you!!
Your talking head shot is so clean! Great job
I don't look at this as a fail at all, it's intended for vloggers or someone just starting a KZhead channel that wants to upgrade from a smartphone and use the features like product showcase, background blur, slow mo etc.. It's a lot cheaper then the zv1 so it's a good option for a beginner and getting used to Sony's menu system
Yes Absolutely Dan, thank you so much for the insight. That is a very good point. It's great if you are just starting out and you need to learn about how to use cameras. Do you have the Sony ZV-1F?
Thanks buddy! this is amazing news! it is very convenient to have an action camera in the format and accessories of the main camera! Wonderful !
Very conflicted.. but i think I'll keep the zv1. The focal length is very tempting, and the lens not extending as far is too. Don't need the zoom. But usb-c... It's the future. On the other hand the nd, raw, and smaller dimensions make me still likely to choose the og.
Hey Phil, yes I agree. It is a tough one. They nailed the price which is exactly what they were trying to do
I got the Sony zv 1 and ever since I been binge watching all your content for this cam and even considering actually doing some photography 😅
Wow, that's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I actually have a video doing photography with the Zv1. Maybe it will help you with your photography. Also, thank you for all of the encouragement. kzhead.info/sun/eZieZbmLoHmQiHk/bejne.html
Hmm was thinking about upgrading from zv1 to zv1f but then after watching your review it doesn't really seem like an upgrade especially if I do some photography.
Excellent comparison video. The price point for the ZV-1F is perfect for its target demographic. I just sold my A7iv to get the FX30 because I want my camera(s) to be primarily for film and video. But, if I do choose to get a camera for simple vlogging or KZhead, I think the ZV-1F is more appropriate. I don't do much photography, so the money you save on the ZV-1F is great. Just as I think the FX-30 is a game changer for filmmakers, the ZV-1F is a huge step towards bringing more people to content creation. Sony is making very smart moves with the FX-30 and ZV-1F. Whereas Canon is shooting themselves in the foot by blocking 3rd party lenses from being a choice for their cameras. Great content, as usual.
don't you find the A7iv better in low light than fx30? I have FX30 now in addition to the R6 and I just don't get what the hoopla is. All the advanced features like top handle/xlr audio/tally lights/no overheating, etc? Quality wise I would assume full frame is better...but I just don't get why people are doing what you did.
Is the zv1f a good camera for workout videos?
I can't believe you liked the old menu system. It was universally panned, and it was the main reason I didn't keep my ZV1
I’ve been conflicted between these 2 cameras and I’m still unsure but this video definitely helped me understand a lot better what similarities and differences they have ❤ thank you for the video!
Cheers for the review mate! Thinking of getting a couple as fixed cameras for KZhead tutorials!
Thats awesome Josh. That would be a great idea.
I love my small ZV1 especially for holidays 😍 it is a perfect bts cam for FX6 filming
Thanks for this. Was skeptical about zv1f because I do travel vlogging, but you have given me much to think about.
Thank you, I am glad you are getting value from my videos. What are your thoughts?
Just pulled the trigger on a ZV1F yesterday. The biggest factors for me turned out to be the 20mm focal length, and the tri pod mount swung me over. I use the shooting grip and being able to access battery and SD card without removing was huge. I had been trying to vlog with my A6400, but even using the kit lens was way too heavy. Hoping the stabilization on this new o e decent, because I kept reaching for the iPhone to shoot video.
Very cool, but I think the f/1.8 and the built-in ND will keep me faithful to ZV-1.
I have the zv1 and there aren’t huge comparisons so I Will keep it until they release something better. I also haven’t gotten much use out of into besides testing it out. This was a great video.
Hey there, thank you for sharing with us. Also thank you for the positive feedback. I really appreciate it.
I really appreciate this video Can you please specify which camera you used for this video recording 🙏
Your quality is so good looks like a movie. Great video!
Thank you I really appreciate that
I don't know if I represent a large segment of the vlogging community, but neither of these cameras comes close to meeting my needs. I was so disappointed in both of them (as I have been with all cameras that are marketed as vlogging cameras). Simply put, the field of view of the lenses isn't nearly wide enough. I was initially excited to learn that the ZV-1F was going to have a 20mm lens. THAT is just barely wide enough to be usable. However, as you pointed out, turning on the Active Stabilization crops in dramatically to make it a 25mm lens. And that is far too tight for filming yourself while walking around. In any event, the stabilization is not nearly good enough anyway. The video you get from these cameras is jittery and shaky when you hold the camera in front of you and walk around. The only way to get usable video is to mount the camera on a gimbal. And that completely negates the whole point of the camera, which was to be small and light enough to carry around on a selfie-stick. On top of the narrow field of view and the poor stabilization, they made the ridiculous decision to remove phase detection autofocus from the 1F. It has been over a decade since vlogging became a thing, and camera companies still don't realize that a vlogging camera requires a simple and basic set of features: 1) a lens with a wide field of view 2) excellent stabilization 3) excellent autofocus 4) microphone jack 5) relatively small and lightweight And that's pretty much it. Just those five things. And not a single camera company has managed to produce a camera like that yet. They all lack one or two of those key features. Sony seems obsessed with audio. They think vloggers only need better built-in microphones and they ignore all the other features. Yet, if they talked to just one of us, they'd realize that we don't care about the built-in mics. We all use external mics anyway. It doesn't matter how good or bad the built-on mics are. We don't use them. And every time one of these big camera companies releases their newest and greatest "vlogging" camera, all they've done is taken an older camera and REMOVED one of the important vlogging features, such as Sony actually removing phase detection autofocus from the 1F. I don't know why they think that removing an important vlogging feature is the way to make a vlogging camera. But they do it every time. Give me ten minutes over a cup of coffee, and I could give you a list of the essential features a vlogging camera requires. Such a camera would take the industry by storm. But all the major companies have had years and years and years to do it, and none of them have come close. Canon had a chance to get it right with the G7X III. With the G7X III, they finally added a microphone jack. But what did they do? They still insisted on using contrast-detect autofocus, AND they made the autofocus in the Mark 3 significantly worse than in the Mark 2. They completely blew it. And Sony was onto something with the RX100 VII. They were so close to making a good vlogging camera with the RX100 VII. But instead of making that camera better, they reversed course and completely blew it with the EV-1 and now the EV-1F. I don't think Sony or any of the big camera manufacturers understand the vlogging market at all.
Go pro 11 is the best option. Companies do this on purpose. If they make 1 camera that works, they'd stop making money.
So what is your current favorite?
anything that comes close enough?
Great to see Sony sent you a new camera model for review!! That means you are under Sony’s radar! Congrats!!!
Im not there yet, hopefully soon though. I just went off of everything I've researched about this new camera. Will you be picking one up?
I use the zv1 with an attachment lens at it slaps. plus the built in ND filter.. I think the zv1 still takes the cake.
Oh cool Aaron, thanks for letting me know. Yes, I think the Zv1 def takes the cake.
amazing review thank you so much for sharing have been contemplating both of them and need to choose one hopefully will chose one soon ❤❤❤
Thanks for all of the support. Thats actually a great question. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for what you are using it for. Have you taken it yet?
Thx you...I think I will stick to the zv1 and if I will buy another camera for my wife..it will be ZV1 white stormtrooper colour...but the zv1 F might help encourage more people to get into KZhead...so that would be nice due to its lesser price tag...
Awesome comparo! The threaded barrel is great, mic in is a must. But I think this camera would be a bigger hit if it was $75 less, or included the shooting grip commander for the price.
@Luke Venus Sony UK site says that the £550.00 price does not include the grip, “…the GP-VPT2BT Shooting Grip…sold separately“ ☹️
Thank you so much for this review!! I am going to get the ZV-1F because my focus is on interesting verbal or action content rather than looking good and capturing cinematic things. Thanks heaps!! :)
No problem, glad that you know what you are looking for. Please tell what you think about it when you get it.
How is it going?
Very nice and positive commentary on both cameras. I’m glad you placed the ZV E10 in the hierarchy of Sony vlogging cameras.
Thank you. I am glad that you liked it. Is the Zve10 your favorite Sony vlogging camera? And also, do you have one?
I was interested in this “successor” until I heard 20mm prime. With an ILCE I am good using prime lenses, as I can change lenses. The new fully functional touchscreen is nice, but no reason to jump ship from my ZV-1.
"In post" means in post-production, which means editing the photo or video in an editor after it is captured.

I've been seeing that you can add additional ND filters to the Zv-1, as well as a wide angle adapter. The zv-1 also has some picture styles that the zv-1f doesn't have.
Hey there. you are absolutely right. Thank you so much for sharing that insight with all of us.
I bought the zv1 and got it at a deal & I’m glad I did. This looks nice but nothing making me regret the ZV1. For me, having a built in ND filter + raw is more important than a wider lens. And no zoom? That seems like a deal breaker.

I am seriously considering using one of these cameras to replace a camcorders i use for filming long podcast....but i am afraid of the video record limits typically associated with cameras like this. Thank you for the comment, I used the A7S3. Which camera of the two do you prefer?
Why Sony removed from this new model the effective stabilization of the Zv-1 and why it removed phase detection, opting only for contrast detection, and finally, why Sony betting on a 20mm fixed lens, got worse your aperture, from f/1.8 that the Zv-1 had to f/2 this Zv-1 F ? Why didn't they set it to an aperture of f/1.4 since it's now a fixed focal length?

@@vixtorialee376 yes! Now I shoot ny videos in 4K
The zv-1f has a max exposure of 1/4s where as the zv-1 goes to 30. That made the difference for me. Already have the zv-2 but that one is also 1/4 max which is a downgrade from previous model.. I didn't see that before I bought the -2 and was pretty disappointed. It's great for KZhead filming but wanted to take occasional tripod night shots with the same camera.
Great video! I use my ZV-1 for top down shots, but not for vlogging because 24mm isn't wide enough. I'd love to switch to this for the 20mm lens, but digital zoom doesn't look good from what i've seen so far, so I don't think itll be good for top down (I have to zoom a little bit and since the ZV-1f is wider, ill have to zoom more than usual for framing). Do you think the digital zoom looks bad? Can't decide what to do haha
Digital zoom doesn't really look bad unless the OG footage isn't stabilized, or you set the key frames too close or far apart. This results in a zoom that happens to quick or too slow, and looks unnatural. As far as 24 mm goes for a wide angle. I agree with you. I shoot top down whenever I record myself painting, and 24 mm has never given me enough. If I was to mount a camera to my ceiling, it would be wide enough, but that's not practical. I highly suggest looking into the Gopro 11. I know it doesn't have zoom or a flip screen, but you can't beat it for vlogging in a tight space. The only thing that has even come close for me, is using a Samyang 14mm on my full frame Canon 5D. Looks amazing, but hard to set up for a top down view due to weight.
Did you ever switch over from your ZV-1? I’m looking to pick one up specifically for top down shots and can’t find any good reviews for that specific purpose
@@hannahdanana I did end up switching but i'm not sure which of my top down videos were filmed with it so I can't point you to one of my specific videos. unless your top down camera mount is really low and you need the wider lens to fit everything in, i think the ZV-1 is the way to go. I switched because I wanted to also vlog with the ZV1F. I would rather use the ZV1 for top down though. Hope that helps!
Sony could have worked on a ulanzi type wide angle adapter lens for ZV1....

Nice info coach. But I’ll stick to the ZV-1 because it does everything I needed to. Plus I read one of The comments saying there is rolling shutter
Hey Tone, yes the ZV1 is perfect for you, I agree
Great comparison. In between both of them which you recommend for cooking videos
I would recommend the Zv1, just because it is a better overall camera.
Did you ever buy a camera? If not, then I can sell you my ZV-1 like new at a good price!
The first price indication for the ZV-1F is EURO 649 at Amazon Germany, which is Euro 20 cheaper than the ZV-1. In the USA, the difference seems to be USD 200. What I can't stand on compact cameras are lens caps. The horizontal angle of view for the ZV-1 is 24mm in photo mode, about 27mm for 4k, and about 35mm when using Active Steady Mode. If these values are applied to the 20 mm lens of the ZV-1F, an angle of view of 28 mm in Active Steady Mode can be expected.
thanks for the usefu review!
Thank you, I am glad you are getting value from my videos.
Thanks for this! Are these cameras good for both photography and vlogging? Or is it recommended that I purchase two separate cameras?
Yes both cameras would be good for both photography in Vlogging, however I would recommend getting the zV one because then you will have more creative options as you grow in this craft. Have you made a decision on which one you want?
@@thefilmalliance Thank you for your reply. I am considering the Sony - AZV-E10 as well as the Sony - A7 IV. I would like to use the camera for indoor KZhead product reviews, shopping vlogging, and good quality photography for travel, sightseeing, and nature. Which of your videos do you recommend I watch to learn about a camera that suits my needs?
I really think this is great for 1st time camera users, problem is that they will experience a steep learning curve and after a few months will want to upgrade. Problem is that they have paid 500$ and now will face an upgrade to a $700-$1200 camera. Not sure if you all agree but curious to hear your thoughts

@@thefilmalliance Nope have the ZV-1 and see no reason to buy the F. I really believe that companies should stop branding cameras as "vlogging" as most of them disappoint in terms of walking talking heads. In terms of videography features they pack a lot of punch
What Camera do you suggest?
@@TommyOhmalley the Sony zv 1 is not the best for vlogging but has 24-70 fixed lens and is great for all round video. Sony ZE-10 comes with an interchangeable mount it allows primes and zoom lenses to be mounted. But if you really want to vlog on the go. DJI Pocket 2, DJI Action 1 or GoPro 11 or Insta360 X3 are great alternatives in the price range. I feel for vlogging action cams have won the battle

One of the great things about this line is they all match very well in color when using multiple cameras. In addition they all have low noise even at moderate ISOs up to 4000, sharp lenses, low power, small size/light weight; similar Picture Profiles; and the same highly efficient XAVC S file format, except the Z90 which includes 24-bit audio. With a camera family that big I can always find the right combo of lenses and features to meet my needs and know color matching with be a breeze. The only area that Sony hasn't address yet is 10-bit color, and you can only get 4:2:2 recording, in camera, on the Z90. The ZV-1F introduced the widest lens yet at 20mm (full frame equivalent) taking the camera family range from 20-348mm.
Thanks, very helpful.
Do you do filmmaking as a hobby or professional?
About to purchase a Sony camera for KZhead content creation mainly. For outdoor shots I'll just use the iPhone 13 Pro Max which is good and have it paired with the DJI OM5. For indoor I'm looking at the ZV-1 and the ZV-E10. From reading the responses by people here I don't think the ZV-1F will be an option. I will be spending most time shooting videos in a 3x4 room and a wide angle camera would be the best. When it comes to price I'm looking more towards depreciation than purchasing price. So I intend to use the camera for let's say 2-3 years and calculate the monthly price then. If I can cover those monthly costs from the content I create the investment is worth it. I like to be ready from day 1 for a period of a few years. Would the ZV-E10 be the better way to go in this case?
So I think the first question we have to ask is, what are you primarily shooting?
I just wanted these as ZV-1 owner. 1:type-C 2:point-shoot(more wide) 3:change power-button position (always it’s covered by dead-cat) That’s all. It’s too much downgrade points….
Very nice video. Is this new camera records gyro data for catalyst browser? Please suggest me best Nd filter for Sony 11mm 1.8 lens. I am using this lens with my zv-e10 Thanks
Thats a great question, I haven't heard anything on that. I don't see why its not. Its pretty much all of the innards of the ZV-1 without the ND-filter and lens. Please let us know what you find out in your research!
Thank you for a very detailed video.
Hey Martin, glad that it was understandable. Which camera do you like better?
I am hoping they will release a F version of the ZV-E10
How about compared to the rxooi? I mean that's Sony's version of an action camera right?
