Now, this is where we'd normally run you through the impressive stats of each car in the line-up. But let's be honest, the stats aren't exactly that impressive! Yes, the Honda Civic may have a turbo-petrol engine... But it's only a 1-litre, 3 cylinders which will produce 126hp & 180Nm!
Combined, all three cars in the line-up can produce 396hp and 572Nm, but how do you think this one will play out? Will the king of everyday hatchbacks, the VW Golf, show these Japanese competitors how it's done? Or will the lightest car in the line-up, the Honda Civic, spring a surprise and snatch the win?

    • @@Thawhid It's a nice change of pace xD At least these basic cars can do something~~ The Golf is definitely the better car because of that 7-speed dual clutch, and the CVTs in the Corolla and Civic will probably not allow them to pass effectively on the highway :D But hey, Mat gave these cars a chance ~~

    • it makes sense if you think about it, after 10 metres off the line his corolla was 10 metres ahead of the honda its just the units and the fact that they're both 10 which makes you confused (dw i was confused at first too) a better unit would be seconds

    • @@chrissmith3378 but they were all about the same price as each other. But I agree the small engine in the Honda definitely made it a non contender. Meanwhile the electric motor in the Toyota helped it push off and the torque and gearbox in the Golf let it pick up speed for longer.

  • As a proud Honda Civic owner, I feel this particular trim was substantially underpowered compared to the other two especially since they're both mild hybrid trims, the 1.5l 4cylinder turbocharged trim would've stood a better chance in both the drag & rolling races, to be fair 😌

    • It looked underpowered a bit. The 1.5LT surprisingly does the 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. Then again I’m afraid of revving up my 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback sport touring, I don’t want to burn my engine lmao

  • I know in the corolla when you accelerate, the cvt gearbox makes a noise but me personally, i like that noise. It just gives the car a sporty feeling yet not producing as many emissions and maintaining good fuel economy which is equivalent to what you would get in a diesel.
