    • The pressure builds up heat, which covered the ice into moisture, then steam. Since the steam (expands around 55,000 times in volume) couldn't go up or down, it went sideways! Basically same thing with the cards and paper, but I would guess it would have been instantaneous combustion, which once again, means violent expansion due to limited directions it could expand in!

  • Just a quick note for those who have not caught on ....this is a very poorly designed press. Extremely "light duty". It is nowhere near any "Strongest Hydraulic Press Moment" ....but it is a sensational video capturing failures with high speed cameras. The entire frame of this press is flexing under the lightest of loads. This is only generating a lot of "stored energy" ....which is what the "explosions" are all about at the end of every test. A proper "compression testing" machine does not "flex" like this. The best machines do not flex. These machines measure everything up to the point of failure with no "stored energy" in the frame. Literally every one of these tests in this video would be less than "sensational" when put on a proper compressions testing machine. For those that have never seen a compression tester function, there are very few "explosions". The explosion at 5:06 clearly shows the flexible plates bouncing into the air. That's stored energy ....and a very light-duty structure. If you want to see a compression tester, look up Tinius Olsen, or Baldwin, or Forney. They have machines of varying tonnage capacities .....well beyond this small machine. . .

A rod of wrought iron was placed in this holder that heated it up rapidly through burners lined underneath the rod. Once it was hot, it was secured and to demonstrate how 'brittle' it was, the bar would break under the tension when it cooled and became that much smaller. Only, the part that broke came flying out of the aperatus, left a gouge a centimeter deep by 10 cm long across the wooden side of the desk where I'd sat behind out of paranoia. Heard a clang and a thud behind me, the thing got lodged in the wall and they had a hard time getting it out. I freaked out because that could have been my leg lol.

    • @@deadsi Yes, but it's a very hard set up to do to have a glass tank or cylinder that can stand that much pressure. A solid glass ball would likely be able to take more pressure than this press can produce. it''s likely the glass tank will fail first.

      @mingming9604@mingming96042 жыл бұрын

Of course it would be nice if foreign speakers of English paid more attention to this difference in English, but it is hard to hear if it's not a feature in your own language, much like speakers of, say, Japanese and Chinese have a hard time hearing the difference between the r- and l-sounds of for instance many Indo-European and Uralic (Finno-ugric) languages. -- Greetings from Tampere, Finland, the home town of HPC!
