  • Thank You so much for these valuable videos. The company I work for have about three digital machines and none of them work on the same temp. or time to really sublimate the mug. There is no manual pressure on these machines as well. Too much blurring on sides and bottom. However, the question I have is......If the Artwork was done in CMYK, would that make a difference as to why the blacks are turning brown and colours appear faded? Does using RGB colour make big difference. Thanks!!

I just started and went through a lot of mugs already because they were not clear by colour. your videos made clear to me that the time was to long. so I am going to try again. I was giving up hope already cause couldn't find the problem. so gonna give it a try again. thanks you so much. ~Mel~

  • I used a Cricut mug press straight out the box and my black colour turned out brown. I didn't realise the Cricut MP had three heat settings, so I turned it down to the 1st setting and only cook for 4mins and not the full 6mins and it is a much better black. But I will try the pre-heating trick next time and see how it works

  • Hey Martin, thank you for posting this video for issues related to Poly coated white ceramic mugs. It is indeed super helpful! Would you have any idea of what would cause the issue of the image NOT being transferred at all? I am using the cricut MP and sublimation on a poly coated clear glass mug and I have tried several techniques but it image just is not transferring during the heating process. Could it be too hot or maybe not hot enough? During my last attempt I put on 3 layers of butcher paper and the image transferred just a little tiny bit in some areas but was still very faint. I really want this work and would super appreciate your advice if you've got any. Thanks ahead :)

  • Great page is this defo thinking about getting your DVD! just a quick question, I have a press that sits idle at 100c, then when I click the timer I have to wait for it to reach 180c then the timer starts counting down, some people do 4 mins e.g. conde, so if I increased the timer from 180 seconds to 240 that extra minute should allow the temp to go up, so is it ok for a mug to sit in a press while the temp goes back up or is it bad for the print? thanks.

  • Hey martin, I'm currently experiencing some problemn dunno if it's my printer or my heat press or a combination.. but the pictures come out very dark after sublimating them on the mugs. My heat press brand is quaffn initial temp is 240 then it heats up to 340 then the timer starts from 160. It was printing just fine a few weeka ago, dunno why it started doing this now.

    • Hard to say bud as it was printing fine. Can't help with that i'm afraid without seeing everything.

      @reviewthat@reviewthat5 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, I think it could be a paper issue, probably... I changed the paper, still both pretty "unknown" but it's the only one available in my area (Quaff, Merry(chinese)). With the Quaff paper, the pictures are dark(fixed by adjusting the density and contrast in the color management panel) and there are some faded spikes? On the bottom, it's like the image didn't transfer or something, I dunno why it's a spike instead of just a whole gradient fade from the bottom(not unlike my previous comment 3 years ago), but it's a spike, like a waveform or something. There could occasionally be some strips of vertical blot lines in the middle of some images like a scratch of color of whatever was near it. With the Merry brand, no faded spikes on the bottom and no strips of vertical lines. But the color is pink/magenta cast, can be fixed by color management, to some degree. I couldn't fully adjust it on the printer color management panel, because -9,9 (horizontal, vertical on the color wheel) is the max it would go before it bugs out and changes numbers on its own after closing the panel. So I opted to use the Merry one, since it's cleaner and the magenta cast is very nearly gone, it's only noticeable now if you really look hard for it. Also, the merry paper doesn't seem to transfer the whole image very well, the image on the paper is still pretty vibrant after heat pressing it on the mug.

  • Hi Martin, I'm wondering if a few drops of dye based inks that came with the printer, mix with the sublimation ink, would that cause a problem with the ink transfer colours? I removed the ink from the printer tank with a syringe, so some droplets of it were left in the tank, then I added the sublimation ink. I'm having a problem with the blues, and the grey is turning pink. Is this common? Thanks a lot.

    • Faris Baidoun The print heads would have still have been full with dye ink so this is probably your problem. You should have also removed the cartridges and cleaned the print heads out with a syringe and all the print lines. What sublimation inks are you using.

But all of a sudden this morning when we got to work.. it started doing streaky lines and even sometimes printed what looked like the heating element bars into the image? We've tried releasing the pressure.. turning up temp.. changing time etc.. But why would it go from being fine to not being fine over night? Do you think there's something wrong with the machine or the actual heating element? Read up on something about the teflon (whereever that is) can get dirty? Is it something to do with that? Thanks! Such a stressfull day. Wasted about 15 mugs :/

  • Help please, I have an MP-160 mug press, and it makes me want to pull my hair out. One day it will do a good print, then the next day, no settings changed, it will do a crap print. Like today, a small text print design that im doing fills the mug top to bottom, i did settings of 180 degress 80 seconds (this has worked good before), top and bottom was good, but a few lines of text in the middle were pale. So i put it back in for another 60 seconds and then top few lines have gone from black to brown, and still too pale in the middle. The tension of the press is pretty tight on the mug. Its just never consistent, same ink, same mugs...
