Can you ask your AG1 contacts why the product is made in New Zealand but not available to purchase here...?
Strange I didn't know that...

Good energy Jordan! Welcome back and all the best for 2024
Thank you! You too!
Glad you got back ! I love your content ! Keep up the great work !
Thanks so much!!
All the best for 2024. Can i put a request in for the footage i think a lot of people want to see. They want to see you and the other lads actually doing the work and explain what you are doing. Like a back to basic video, like the fault finding videos you have done before.
We're filming a proper deep dive testing and inspection video today, stay tuned! Chest mount go pro's and everything!
One thing kills all types of inverters faster than anything is heat. From my industry days inverters running hot never lasted as long as the ones running cool. That’s the problem I have with the loft installs the heat build up in summer can be crazy
Heat kills everything electrical
Idea for a video.... "meet the team 2024" be fascinating to see a proper artisan business update
Cool idea! Noted
Might as well meet them for one more time before they get put on the scrap heap
Good to See you back Jordon, I'm Not Keen on the Inverter in the Loft, By the Time the Detector gets it, it is already Ablaze, the same applies if it was in the Garage, BUT a Garage Fire is Easier To Put out and a LOT cheaper to replace than a Roof
Fire issues aside, I don't understand why would anyone want to run those massive DC cables so far away.

So glad it’s looking up!
Thanks!
Love the electrical work but tiring of the over self promotion and unconnected product placement.
Welcome to KZhead, if you're new here, that's this app in a nutshell.
No offense but this guy doesnt look super healthy or athletic so im not sure why he accepted a greens drink sponsor, it would make more sense to stick to electrical equipment sponsors.
You've got too many links in the description! Where's the one for the boots? Also, glad to see you back in the UK Jordan, looking forward to this year's content!
Good to have you back and I think the goal/direction you are working to is spot on. I love the humour and honesty in the content long may that continue. Be interested in seeing how the surge protectors are specified and wired in? Take it steady this year - be kind to yourself.
Thanks a lot!
Good to see you back Jordan and hello from Wolverhampton! Looking forward to the content! Content wise, anything about how to pick an installer and avoid picking bad ones would be a good one :). Sadly we're not all in your area ;)
Awesome! Thank you!
Good to see you back Jordan, looking forward to the content 🫡
Appreciate it!
At the start of the install was whomever intending to run the cable through his hand as well?.Good to see you back, hope you all thrive,we need more like you all.
Maybe install a fan blowing the hot air comming from the inverter away. it will certainly help with the internal degrees in the inverter during summer time
Welcome back Jordan, I’m curious to know how far south you take on work. I’m afraid I don’t have any work for you and I live in Bristol so that’s way too far away. I do know that you can recommend firms outside of your area. All the best for 2024.
This WAS my favorite channel for a very long time getting a first hand view of day to day jobs. Its gradually changed over time but now its near enough none existant which is very sad 😢
Yes, no matter how complicated our wiring projects have become in the past, the easiest thing in the world to do is to get Positive and Negitive mixed up on solar! That's why I went back to using only black cables up on the roofs.
Welcome back and keep up the good Company
Thanks 🙏
Thank goodness - more focus on content sounds great 👍. From an electricians perspective they've definitely been lacking vs the older videos IMHO. For example in this video some ecplanation of the 1% voltage drop to inverter (rather thsn a casual 4mm cable reference) plus how the island mode wiring works ie. why does the inverter disconnect from the source? What is a netral earth bond relay. I feel old jordan would have explained more of this.
Great point!
Stay warm!!!
Putting inverters near the PV panels is good as it reduces I2R losses,
"It's nice to be back on the tools"..... seems to spend the entire video getting in peoples way, and trimming the sleeving from some wires BUT ONLY to get a name drop in for the totally stunning, best in the world ever rebranded swedish folding ruler.. But it's the best in the world because its HILTI BRANDED!!!!!. Also, you mention the fancy lifting bags for getting the panels onto the roof, for health and safety. But seem to have totally forgotten the video from several months ago, where you go into great depths of the importance of hard hats due to the potential for falling tools and equipment. Never change Jordan 😂 (Ya know i love you really)
Great summary 😂
I work in the motor trade and it’s the same thing with using so many tools for one small job
Ive loved following your vids, but i just cant do it anymore. I know you need to move on from your mistakes, but ! Any way good luck in the future
Hi happy new year, can you tell with your experience what's happening when the big breaker trips outside the house, and not the 10 a MCB thanks sir
How does it work with regs in the UK, you really need all this constructions? We are qualified / certified in alpinism and do such install in a single day; rope work.
All my body needs is Pringles & 4 hours of sleep. You might call it unhealthy, I call it pique efficiency
Hard hats around scaffolding lasted long 🫣🫣
Nice to see you are back. 37:00 Is that the main earth cable going to the board? (wasn't clear from the video, or maybe I missed it) I am asking because here in Belgium we are required to have that cable run in one piece to the main board.
It seems to be the main earth for the garage. I know that main bonding conductors here need to be in one piece, but my understanding is that a crimped connection is permissible where necessary
How do the solar skirts cope with snow weight and high winds like we've had the last few weeks?
Welcome back,Good luck with moving forward guys! It would be nice to know the working area you will be covering!?I for one would use you guys in a heartbeat but am not in your area! Regards Del
Bloody hell, you must be rich, the amount these guys charge, not saying they're not top notch, but they definitely ain't cheap.
Hi Del, depends what work you need doing, we do travel further for larger projects sometimes.
Good to see you back Jordan! That Hilti cable cutter says “do not cut steel” and was it chopping through SWA? 😬
Thanks! I think they mean solid steel not steel wire...
@@artisanelectrics ahh ok
I bet you loved the traveling, super jealous. Looking forward to the UK content and offering you some DC chargers 😉⚡️🔋
Can't wait!
i remember you saying about hard hats in a previous install ???
I understand the rules have changed on removing DC isolation but the Givenergy inverter can't be safely isolated in the day if it needs replacing as the DC inputs are via wago type connectors in the bottom?
Yeah thats exactly why we fitted a DC isolator in the end
Rules haven’t changed on dc isolation. You need dc isolation it’s just that older inverters didn’t have a built in dc isolation. So now you can do without the separate dc isolator. If the inverter needs replacing or moving later just remove one leg of the string and make safe followed by the other leg. I.e. keep them separate.
Just the 6 adverts in this video! 1. Silly green drink 2. Hilti 3. Tradify 4. Work boots 5. Channel membership 6. Other channel ‘Improved content’ surely doesn’t feature constant not so subtle adverts. Although I’m sure the roofer is very happy with his new boot and software combo!
Agree.
You forgot the van!
Don't watch it then. Simples.
very clean work ❤❤
Thank you! 😊
An educational what you need to go solar, battery, Ev ? Where it works, where it doesn’t ?
Grate to see you back ! Quick question, how did you go about providing your customers with an MCS cert for their feed in tariff before you registered with MCS ?
We only did a few jobs pre-MCS and we certified them afterwards
@@artisanelectrics ahh I see thank you, that’s the situation we’re in at the moment, we’re experienced electricians Moving in to solar, we have our first job next week, but haven’t gone down the MCS route yet I think we’re planning on it as it seems a must now, but wasn’t sure if we could go back after once we’re registered and issue the certs or not.
Good to see you back. I am interested to find out why you used GivEnergy hybrid inverter instead of a pv inverter for the all in one. We always use a pv inverter with aio system. Did you manage to link the hybrid gateway and ac coupled inverter in the aio together on the app? Thanks in advance
Customer wanted a Hybrid so he could add batteries later if needed. We had to comission them on separate users its a bit complex.
@@artisanelectrics could still add batteries if you used a ac coupled inverter. Up to 28kwh I think.
Hi Sir. I was wondering what's your opinion on Huawei FusionSolar systems such as sun2000 inverters and whether thy are a good choice or popular in the UK.
Some say the roofer floats to his workplace and that he absorbs his nutrients from the sky, All that we know is that he's The Stig (as he hasn't much work on at the moment...)
Unsubbed from this channel months ago. Best decision I made.
Welcome back! 🎉
Thanks!
You sound happier and with more passion I’m glad you are back hope you smash 2024
Thanks Ben
Jordon ,Kirbo are going on Dragons Den 15 Feb 8 PM BBC 1.
Will the inverter be within spec. with the loft temperatures in the summer.
how much better is the condudisc instead of an earth rod? Does the all in one allow you to DC couple the batteries if in the same location?
Condudisc is 100% better, we always get lower readings and they only get better with time as it beds in. DC coupled not an option with all in one. Multiple battery option coming soon tho I think...
Welcome back Jordan 💪
Thanks Mark!
With proper reinforcement it is safe to fit batteries in the loft. Think about the weight of a cold water header tank. Depending on battery size, (about 30kg per unit) this is a fraction of that design weight.
Yeah but you don't have to lift the tank full of water for a start also the givenergy 9.5kWh battery is 116kg have fun lifting that up a loft ladder. Plus there is now a debate in the IET about banning the practice due to fire risk
@@14fyfire risk thats a joke. Lifepo4 doesn't thermally degrade until 1177C and domestic fires don't get that hot. Lifepo4 tech is chosen to avoid thermal runaway. I agree about the weight and modular batteries are about 30kg per unit per 2.5kWh, so liftable with a mild hernia risk.
@atkt62 LiFePo4 does ignite and I have seen such battery's go up in flames on occasions in laptops and phones aswell as on domestic solar batteries it does happen
@@14fy older lithium metal chloride te h, yes there's a thermal runaway risk.laptop battery tech cannot be compared as energy density type of cell etc is totally different. Mostly fire risk down to arcing due to poor installation. So caveat emptor
Fair illustration, but I would still prefer to avoid it if possible.
Perversely it’s now better to export than store (well, actually it’s better to do both - but no reason to do anything other than filling the battery overnight…
you forgot to mention that the givenergy AIO, can be easily retrofitted to current FITs solar systems while still retaining the payments and also the ability to pwer the solar system in the event of a power outage, myself i am currently waiting to see whether the zero vat kicks in in feb for the AIO for a consumer buying themselves and getting a givenergy qualifed sparky to install, also worth considering givenergy are bringing have a ev charger that pairs seamlessly with the AIO
The VAT reduction will be given by installers, the 20% VAT will still be added by wholesalers. Just get your spark to buy it and install at zero VAT, he can then reclaim the VAT.
Just curious as to why in the video @ 37:47 that you are using cable sheers to score and cut the insulation of that earth cable when i would be using side cutters ?, reason for asking is for the fact that those are cable sheers and are designed for sheering/cutting cables rather than for precise working on the removal of insulation and such. loved the video btw, good to see you back in the uk with the guys on a job instead of playing around with non uk electrical content (as i did not enjoy that tat if i'm honest).
I find cable shears easier to strip round cables like that, side cutters nick the copper too easily
It's been 4 months?? Did you take my time with you when you went, I still remember the video of your empty house like it was only just released! It's nice to see you back at work, I hope you and your wife had a lovely time away!
😂
Those Marley Garages are a nightmare to drill into. If you get even close to the exterior, it explodes and huge chunks fall off. Had to do some interesting parch ups.
Haha yeah me too...
@@artisanelectricsdo you get the same blow out if you use a diamond core drill?
If the Inverter has its own DC Isolator (as a few seem to now), and you don't install one of your own, how do you isolate the DC if you ever have to remove/replace the inverter?
Exactly why we decided to fit one in the end
Turn off the inbuilt isolator to stop flow of string current and disconnect the MC4 connectors.
Watched the full length of the video. Had to rewind to watch that Hilti nailer destroy the cable clip. Time for a colab: link up with The Slo Mo Guys to see what that Hilti gun does in slo-motion!
GREAT IDEA!
You should see where my inverter is. Proper stupid the joists that are literally next to the hatch have everything on so they get in the way when put anything up the loft and also if you open the hatch by pushing up the inverter side it hits the inverter. I don't know who In their right mind thought that was a good idea.
I'd love to know what a KWh costs to produce on one of your installations. I worked out that I would be producing electricity at 53p per KWh. That was a 4.8kw system in Scotland predicted to produce 3600 KWh per annum. Costing £12k Could never pay back.
3600kWh/ year £12k. If a kWh is 30p then that’s £1k annually. I know Scotland’s not great in winter, but that’s pretty poor value. I have a smaller array with a predicted (and realised) 2MWh/year generation which I reckon has a 5 year payback time.
Thats a very low output for a 4.8kW system... was it north facing or something? Less than 1 hour per day average generation sounds super low.
Where is the regulation for the DC surge protection? I've just recently renewed my solar qualification and nothing was mentioned about it.
First I've heard to
I'm still trying to understand where the surge, in the DC lines, will come from - unless it's a concern about lightning - which seems a bit dumb as if lightning strikes it will all get fried - surge protection or not.
Great Video, Perhaps an idea for a video would be an end of year financial update like you have done the previous 2 or 3 years,(turnover, wages, KZhead subscriptions etc) Show the members how times have changed and how you think it happened and how your now putting your goals together to make it better than before.
jeeezz are you really that interested??
