  • Keep in mind that HP is not the only thing that's important here. A 1000hp truck and 1000hp car produce VERY different numbers in torque.

    • Besides HP, another big factor is the gear ratio. Not all vehicles convert the power the same way.

  • Re the Bluebird K7: It did NOT have an engine from an Avro 683 Lancaster heavy bomber - that was fitted with 4 27 litre V12 Rolls Royce 'Merlin' engines, as used in the Spitfire etc. Several cars HAVE been built with these engines, including John Dods, who built several replica Rolls Royces, despite complaints & legal issues from R-R themselves, mainly over use of the grill shell. A modern example also has a similar engine in a Rover SD1 bodyshell. Original Merlin engines are quite rare, but similar engines & derivatives were used in British Army tanks, so are generally used. Bluebird K7, and there was only one, had a Metropolitan-Vickers Beryl axial-flow turbojet engine, producing 3500 lb of thrust.
