Making a conscious, deliberate decision to change my angle slightly in shadowboxing, then bag work, then sparring has improved my game significantly. This is just a small way to change your angle.

  • Love that step to setup a power kick or knee to the liver. A good way to really generate body weight and snap into your kick, while keeping the guys hands up.....and 100% agree with not having anyone into training enough to get it in whenever I want, especially as you get older...Its definitley easier with firearms to get training goals accomplished by yourself which is why my focused shifted to them after getting out...In the service you could always find a knucklehead to roll or spar with..Now I gotta drive an hour and a half just to roll with people that are into it and can teach me as they kick my ass...That's on me though like you said, I didnt want it bad enough....Awesome video as usual, keep it up

But I trained a partner who is big and slow and it made hi seem much more tricky.

There are, as in every martial art, several variants and added moves. This is the simplest one. Pao chuan is one of 5 concepts, energies or fists in xingyiquan. Ximgyiquan is one of the three more famous of what is usually called internal martial arts, alongside with taichichuan and baguazhang. It's the most ancient and is regarded as the most direct and violent. I practice xingyiquan, and seeing you move like that made me think about the universality of martial arts. Of course xingyi is influenced by boxing. There is a very nice video wich I will look for right now that touches upon angle footwork wich I hope it will be interesting for you.
