  • Thanking God this morning for this man and his wife sharing their story. It gives me so much hope for my Uncle John who suffered a hemorrhagic stroke on 9/7/23 at 3am. Please pray for him, my Aunt Stacie and their families as we journey through this together. God is so graceful, merciful and He is faithful… the only One in control of all. God takes a tiny acorn and grows a mighty oak tree so this is small for Him. Please help us continue to pray for our Conley family. Heavenly Father, as I bow before You as humbly as I know how, I beg You for Your guidance, Your understanding and Your healing power over John. I thank You for ALL that You’ve already restored in his life, especially Heather & Jay. Please continue healing John according to Your Will and plan, speak Your words and truth to his heart, keep his mind open to YOU Father. I know that we are created to worship You and our lives are meant for You… nothing of this world matters. Jobs, material possessions and money do not matter -ONLY YOU Father. I will forever shout Your name for all the healing You have graciously given to me. Use me whenever You need me. I’ll forever praise You. In Jesus’ precious and holy name I beg, Amen.

  • I had a severe stroke four years ago. I was in the hospital for six weeks and was left with cognitive and motor deficits. I’m in the medical field and I starting doing a lot of research on Growth Hormone. I started taking it in May 2022 and five months later I’m completely healed! No more balance problems, cognitive impairments, and my stamina is through the roof. I never sit down all day now!

  • I had a stroke 2 years ago and was sent to St. Luke's Baptist Hospital. I had to learn how to talk, walk, use my right arm, write, type, and drive again. It was the scariest experience of my life. The amazing staff at St. Luke's saved my life. They saved my life and my kids didn't lose their mama. I am forever grateful to everyone who cared for me and I am truly blessed. Thank you St. Luke's! ❤❤❤

    • When you have a stroke and lose the ability to talk, do you still have the same mental state as before the stroke? Like is your mind completely coherent, you have the same thoughts and sense of humor and everything, but you just don’t understand why you can’t speak? That literally sounds so frustrating to have the same sound mind as always and not be able to communicate verbally

  • The brain is an amazing piece of organ that not much credit is given. The way it rewired and repair itself after an injury is amazing to me.

    • What is it like to have the same coherent brain as before the stroke, same thoughts same sense of humor, but not be able to communicate verbally? That just sounds so frustrating to me. My best friend had a stroke 2 years ago and while she was relearning how to talk and walk, she had a second stroke that seems like she won’t be able to recover from. She can now only say 3 words and needs round the clock care. Only 37 years old. I’m trying to understand what she’s going through, because I can’t talk to her 😢. Does she just feel trapped in her own body, but with the same thoughts and witty sense of humor as before? She is the best person I know and I just can’t believe she has to live like this, most likely forever at such a young age 😢

  • My sister just had a stroke this week she lost mobility in her right arm and leg. I'm terrified that she won't be able to recover but so thankful she's still here and was given the chance to recover. The worst part of the whole thing (for me) is I'm in Virginia and she lives in New York I can't even see her or talk to her. But it's nice to see stories like this and know she may some day overcome these obstacles. I love my big sister with all my heart and I'm so proud of her.

  • I feel so happy to know that stroke patients will finally be able to recover again because I too had stroke on the 2 of April 2021 but like all the stories I have heard mine seemed different because I didn’t get any symptoms at all I was actually training for cna and I had a plate of food for residents and suddenly I saw myself fall face down and the ambulance was called in and I woke up after like 2 months in hospital and it was then I was told I had stroke and that when the ambulance brought me in that they tried getting a scan to see what was going on with me but that I was kicking and punching so they couldn’t do much until I went into a coma and I kept asking why I wasn’t sedated to get the scans they needed but alas it was a question that actually came too late because if it was done perhaps a lot of damage could have been saved but eventually the neurologist and his team had to perform a cranium surgery to save me but I ended up with a left side paralysis and right now I’m battling with my vision and also have to deal with seizures though I’m thankful to God and the medical doctors for doing their best to save me but right now I feel my life is now a mess but then I’m still thankful

  • #BaptistHealthSA My Husband had a Massive Stroke as well in “2016” I knew he was ok at 4:06 am because he took his right foot with his toenail and scratched my right left leg. I told him to quit playing it’s not funny. Although I didn’t see him. I knew he was good at that time because he could move his right leg, laughed and spoke to me. At 6:02 am I heard a thump. I told him if he was playing I was going to hit him this time. ( joking of course) I thought he would respond I heard our beagle barking so I jumped up and found my husband exactly as you said. Flailing around. He couldn’t get the TPA because I did not have a visual on him at 4:06 am they couldn’t conclude he was visually ok at that time. But they gave me the option and stated if I’m off he could bleed to death. So our six kids and his mother and I talked and we all agreed just in case, we all decided against it! They had the Best Rehabilitation Center where he was at. They said he will probably go straight from the hospital to rehab and probably wouldn’t live past a year! We are in 2021 he has difficulty with his speech, but his memory is still sharper than mine. He went in the hospital on “09/30/2016” was home on “11/02/2016” a little over 30 days! I told him he had to fight or he will not be able to come home w/o Home Health care! He fought and WON! I make my husband carry a card that he can show the police if he ever got pulled over stating he has Aphasia/difficulty speaking but understands everything you say just give him time to respond. It has his name DOB ADDRESS and me as his Emergency contact along with his 2 oldest son’s. Oh mind you not our dog was stuck to him like glue for 7 days prior. She knew she is not allowed to cross the threshold of our bedroom door. She had her bed in the living room. After we fell asleep she dragged her bed in our room and slept at the foot of his side of the bed. It was as if she knew!!That’s how come I heard her barking so loudly! The sound of him falling with her barking woke me up! Our dog was 15. She died 1 year later of Cancer. The same month my husband came home 11/2016. Thank you for sharing your personal information on such a devastating day! Just out of curiosity how is his short term memory? Oh does he still have bad days still?

  • My husband suffered a right brain stroke. His left side is affected and he’s a lefty. He’s recovering but his short temper and inability to reason, understand, and compromise has gone out the window most days. He’s extremely negative and mean. My patience is wearing thin and I’m so hurt emotionally. I remind myself that he’s the one who’s sick and needs my help, but his words and actions proves he knows hat he’s saying and doing. I’m afraid I’m going to suffer a stroke with all the stress and emotional abuse. How do I deal with his behavior?

  • Back in 2008, my grandmother went through this and she was perfectly healthy and never drank and never smoked... Unfortunately she did not make it and arteries kept bursting in her brain and she succumbed to amyloidosis. It was attacking her brain. This disease can affect any organ in the body but in her case it was the brain and somebody asked if there is some kind of surgery they could do but they said no because in this case it was a genetic factor. I am so happy for Carlos and I will keep I will keep him in my thousands of prayers every week❤️‍🩹
