  • You know the most infuriating thing about that Vision vs Eye Sight thing? Steve Harvey would have absolutely given you that one, because they're the same answers. The limited programming of the game is the issue, demanding the exact answers.

    @MidnaNightengale@MidnaNightengale Жыл бұрын
    • Exactly!

      @AquaQuokka@AquaQuokka Жыл бұрын
    • Contextually Steve Harvey could infer the intent of the answer, but "vision" isn't actually correct there. Eyesight and vision aren't synonyms or interchangeable, they actually mean very different things and vision isn't an applicable answer for that question. Also the Family Feud games do give a lot of leeway for answers, they'll take iterations and synonyms just fine, they just don't do inference because that's subjective.

      @KaleidosXXI@KaleidosXXI Жыл бұрын
    • @@KaleidosXXI Context is key, but I'm pretty sure this exact type of scenario happened in the show before, and they gave them the point. The live show in general seems to feed off of context, and inference, which is a difficult thing to program. You can do it to some degree, but it won't be the same as an actual person's logic and reason. I stand by my point, but I agree that there's more to it as well.

    • Eye Sight and Vision are the same word in my Language, so i cant even understand this to be honest On the most you can make a little difference because one is "Visão" and other is "Vista", but unless you apply in a Medical context, there no real difference between them

      @Pherim_@Pherim_ Жыл бұрын
  • The worst thing about the vision vs eye sight and distilling vs distillation is that the original game show hosts would have given you that one as correct the problem is the coding and limited programming.

The question asked for the name of the process (distillation) but Jaiden answered with the act (distilling). Then show the exact answer you just gave! You know why it did that? I learned years later. You probably put a space somewhere in the answer… automatically makes it wrong and there was no warning that would happen.

It would make more sense to equate a chef to a cook or a cooker (which isnt commonly used but still makes sense). The "ing" ending can be used as both a verb and a noun describe the process of something. Not the people doing that thing (where the -er ending would be more appropriate). The equivalent for a chef in the case of distilling would be a distiller.

It is similar to when a woman/man is put on the spot and told, "I'll give you "$X if you can name a woman/man in the next five seconds." There's other street interview-game examples of this happening, like with trivia. The person put on the spot may be mistakenly viewed as a fool by people watching the content.

  • 6:29 fun fact! I went on the Price is Right, two days before my birthday, and two days before Drew Carey's birthday. I didn't get selected as a contestant, something that I have been training for since I was a child, but Drew Carey talked with me during the commercial break (because they film the show with the commercials playing for the audience to determine timing) and then I won a door prize after the show, which was the Price is Right video game and some money that was lower than the taxable prize threshold. I guessed everything that came up while there and only one of the prizes did I not guess closer than the person who was up there. My brother and I used to watch the Price is Right every day in the summer as kids and he's even better than me. He can guess most showcases within $300 of the actual retail price. I don't know if he'd ever be able to compete though as he runs corporate events and has done events for CBS.
