@@rudywilliams6538 I’m just relieved that on Scary Hours 3 Drake isn’t trying to keep up with the latest trends is simply rapping his truth over chill beats. “The Shoe Fits” has very good storytelling in my opinion. “Evil Ways” They kept the same rhyme scheme throughout and went back and forth over a beautiful sample like classic rap duos. “You Broke My Heart” has lots of energy and great beat. “Red Button” he’s talking arrogantly and reaffirming he’s still at the top and the numbers back him on that. “Stories About My Brother” has strong bars. “Wick Man” is my least favorite of the bunch. 5:29 I disagree about social commentary. Drake has a lot of themes of fragile masculinity, going through pain associated with betrayal and breakup and growing from it. I don't read it as dissing women, more like expressing raw emotion and weakness and lashing out from a place of loneliness and pain. It's not a fine-sculpted Kendrick therapy session, but it's still social commentary. He did a lot of it on Take Care
Is it themes of fragile masculinity, or is it just a fragile male making music true to himself?
@@MMCLLC7 how is that not the same thing?
@faygo9603 i wouldnt call rapping about how fragile you are a commentary on society at large. I would call it introspection. Which is fine nothing wrong with artists exploring themselves in their music, most if not all do anyway. But theres a difference between personal journal entries and a statement about the world at large. And when has drake ever had anything to say about whats going on in the world that actually matters beyond celebrity gossip, trending topics, and rappers he thinks he's better than?
@@MMCLLC7be careful cause you’re gonna have to give the same judgement to kendrick and y’all hate doing that
@ADollarMight first off whos yall? I fw kendrick but im not one of his stans calling him the goat every chance i get. Lets not even try to compare kendrick and drake in terms of social commentary. Doesnt matter how introspective kendrick gets, he still raps with a wealth of knowledge about the world around him and with a high level of empathy for people especially those who look like him and have his shared experiences. Mr morale was for men with daddy issues, men who cheat or dont trust women, people who wanna be famous and rich, and people who think he can do no wrong. He spent the majority of the album explaining why he shouldnt be the goat, why he shouldnt need to appeal to people who keep putting him in that box and expect him to deliver something that saves the world. Drake, meanwhile, cant stop calling himself the goat and appears to still be trying to prove it. Thats why he had to drop a ep right after his album so people would stop making fun of him. Yall got all bars from drake and forgot hes not actually saying anything about anything. The subject matter is the same as its been since views: hes rich, hes the best rapper, he gets the baddest chicks, but also he wants love and thats hard to find when youre famous and rich. Tell me i didnt just sum up drakes entire ethos in a sentence. Drake wants to be the greatest so bad, thats why his music isnt progessing. He keeps talking about how hes gonna take over the game and oh man when i press this button its over for everybody! Like dude if you had a button for that you wouldve pressed it in 2017 for pusha. Drake thinks numbers make the man, and kendrick was actively no longer caring whether people enjoyed, understood, or agreed with his work. He did it for himself. Thats how art works. Lastly, this isnt to say drakes ep wasnt good. For the most part it was. The beats were great and yes drake has bars when he wants to. But theres no commentary if you only take about what youve solely experienced. Litterally just open up drake and kendricks lyrics on genius, read them, and see who actually thinks about the world and how their music affects it, beyond it being popular or better than others.
