When reading out the indictment the prosecutor mentioned these parents were CEOs, securities traders, partners from law firms; the type of people who are the consummate example of starting on a higher rung up the ladder. And I'm sure when the kids were rejected by some schools the parents and kids talked about how "life isn't fair". To that I'd say, "yes, it isn't fair you have these advantages!"

Isabella I graduated from UCLA and I had poor parents who couldn't pay off anyone. I also got in by working hard. I'm 49 now and I still wear my alumni clothes because I'm proud of what was achieved.

The really ironic thing is that this story comes just days after Manaford’s relatively light sentence. When passing the sentence, the judge actually referenced to his academic credentials as an alleviating factor. Now, I don’t know if Manaford had to pay bribes t get into college, but I do know that someone who’s betrayed his own country and defrauded the government of millions of dollars wouldn’t really have many qualms about greasing his way into higher education.
