Actress Lori Loughlin taken into custody in 'Varsity Blues' college admission scam
Actress Lori Loughlin was taken into custody by the FBI Wednesday in Los Angeles after she, fellow movie star Felicity Huffman and 48 others were charged in a $25 million college admissions scam that has prompted repercussions from Hollywood to the boardrooms of major companies.
A former cast member on the ABC sitcom "Full House," Loughlin and Oscar-nominated actress Huffman, 56, are among 33 parents charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in the nationwide scam to get their children into elite colleges, including Yale, Stanford, Georgetown and the University of Southern California.
The feds dubbed the investigation "Operation Varsity Blues" and said it was triggered by an unrelated investigation by FBI agents in Boston.

    • They might not directly for this, but some of these people also committed tax evasion and tax fraud. Its being reported that some of the dummies tried to claim the bribe money as a deduction, listed it as a donation to charity or something.. (how stupid can someone be?) Uncle Sam does not like that.

    • The admissions people weren't in on the scheme - the athletic coaches and athletic officials were. They would take a bribe and tell the admissions office a particular kid was a star soccer player or crew member and the admissions office didn't have any reason to think they were lying. A bunch of coaches and athletic directors are being charged along with the parents.

A woman in Ohio was jailed for falsifying her address in order to get her daughter into an elementary school in a better school district. All of these people were people of color, of moderate incomes, and deserved to go to jail. In that same right, celebrities and the rich know darn well that they can and will use their money, identity, and influence to buy their way out of this legal disaster. The lesson learned: life isn't fair and it never will be. However, when you're caught....you have to pay the price no matter what race, class, socio economic status, etc... you are.
