Godzilla destroying that battleship will always as one of my favorite scenes in this movie as it shows how insignificant humans really are and we are just lucky in this universe that not all of these titans want to wipe us out.
Well thankfully titans don’t exist.
This is completely fiction. No animal has ever existed anywhere close to this size. Humans definitely are insignificant, though. I'd worry more about a space rock on a collision course or a supervolcano than a giant monster. We've killed off most the big animals that were direct threats to us.

I always find it funny how 99% of the people in a scene can all be brutally killed, yet the three or so main characters always walk away without a scratch

I gotta admit, going into this movie i was rooting for Godzilla all the way but this scene really made me feel "naw Kong better get free, I'm not accepting a win unless it's a fair fight" and by the finale, all this movie did was keep me as a huge Godzilla fan but also appreciate Kong much more than I have before !

I appreciate the director and sound engineers' attention to situational detail. Kongs roars and grunts were so distinct and really portrayed his desperation to get loose to take on Godzilla. Not sure how they did it, but fantastic job.

I always loved Godzilla. To be able to see some dude in a suit 45 years ago vs. the amazing CGI we have today is quite awesome. I love the special effects!👍

thats how irl animals work, if you roar they roar back, fire crackers make them scared
true, but it may come from that the canons were pretty loud at a very unexpected time. He didnt know that they would come at such an unexpected time. This scared Kong a little or something, and then he covered his ears because he wasnt prepared for it. But when he roared back at Godzilla, he knew that Godzilla would create a high sound, making him prepare fot it and being more ready to take the high volume. You can also see that he's trying to back up from the sound when Godzilla roars, and that he is kind of making a grimace that shows that he finds the sound very high and uncomfortable. But otherwise i do agree with your comment haha

King Kong is more like a hero
This first fight just hits different because of how much intensity there was and the impact of just both of them meeting is amazing.
Probably my favorite monster movie fight, Godzilla’s badass entrance and the tension that builds as kong isn’t able to get free make it all the more engrossing.

I love how they try to make Godzilla the bad guy. But he only attacked the other monsters. Even when swimming in the ocean you'll dive below before hitting the ships.
Godzilla looks like a bad guy because this is from the perspective of Kong and the humans transporting him. When it switches to Millie Bobby Brown and her team, it is fron Godzilla's perspective. This movie is in dual pov. In the end, it all becomes clear when they team up.
Godzilla was never the bad guy. He just doesn't get emotionally involved, true to his character of being a reptile. Kong is different, he socially bonds emotionally with people and protects them. Godzilla is about keeping the balance of the world while Kong is about protecting the things he loves.

I like the detail when Kong roared and Godzilla roared back under the water, pretty epic.
This movie goes so hard visually. Likke the tracking shot on Godzilla's fins as he breaches the surface and breaks the boat at 0:48, or how his tail at 1:10 looking like a tentacle sticking out of the water.

Hands down here... ALL the fight scenes here between the monsters including MGZ were superbly thought & executed with much unpredictability. This IS the BEST monsters with heart & reasoning (not just mindless giants) movie of ALL TIME.
Love how they incorporate the score of the Halo jump and trailer Scene of Godzilla 2014 in here, make the scenes of Godzilla even more treating and scary

This scene was cool but would have been better had it lasted longer. The idea of Godzilla circling the ships like a massive shark, with Kong leaping from ship to ship, would have been really something.
Godzilla doesn’t need to circle the ships though. He can just cut right through them with his back dorsal plates and his tail.

Godzilla was like: "Hey pets, give me the monke and nobody get's hurt" - humans shoot him - "That was really rude. It didn't hurt, but it was rude" - proceeds to sink half a dozen ships with little to no effort -
He literally just swam into them and that was enough to destroy the ships. The humans stood no chance.

I LOVE how Godzilla's entrance (literally the first time he enters the screen) is via his dorsal plates entering the frame right before the projectiles hit the water.

Godzilla should have a huge advantage in the water
Before this film came out, Godzilla was portrayed as a protector of mankind, while here, he is portrayed differently. I think that after the defeat of Ghidorah, Earth went into a time of peace, and thus, Godzilla was at peace. But when humans mettled with Ghidorah's brain while developing Mecha-Godzilla, Godzilla became angry because the peaceful earth he had built was being threatened. Thus we see him killing humans with no remorse here, as he no longer cares for them like he used to and they were getting in the way of him fighting Kong. Makes sense really. Kong on the other hand always wanted to be left alone in his Skull Island home, but recently developed a connection with humanity, to the extent that he willingly allowed himself to be transported by boat. As an adolescent, Kong cared little for humans, but as he grew, he warmed up to them. Poor Kong was so depressed in this movie.

It's not stop motion. The men in suits were amazing! If they don't win an Oscar I must revolt. And the models, the set...all perfectly done by the special effects team who had to meticulously build each carrier and destroyer by hand. Epic.

My expectations werent too high for this movie going in. Thought it just was a quick cash out on the Kong and Godzilla concept. But I was pleasantly surprised. I like this movie
