    • No the problem with this planet is that young people today have no respect, can't joke about serious things and are a bunch of sensitive wossies. Charles is intelligent because you know why? He speaks his mind and is a great, great person. People that speak their mind are often charismatic and have dominating personalities which people of less intelligence are often enraged or afraid off. And stop pulling shit like this out of your ass. Idk why people are so damn up in skin colour, it's a sure sign of an idiot. I love charles, in fact most of the men I look up to are black, and I am as far from black as you can get. I'm hitlers image of a perfect human being. Tall blonde, blue eyes. But does it matter? am I any different than charles barkley for example? No. Stop making yourself look like an ass.

Be happy with what you have whether it’s a little or a lot. Be an example to those around you. But here we like Charles Barkley because he brings smiles to our faces after hearing his speech. Thank you.

    @YoshLovesYou@YoshLovesYou9 жыл бұрын
    • ***** And got dissed by Pippen. Then Barkley threatened to shoot him. I don't think he enjoyed playing with Pippen.

      @ericmatterson9905@ericmatterson99059 жыл бұрын
    • I think the point here that Charles was making was that Pippen is what made MJ truly great. He was making the argument that Pippen is the only thing giving MJ an edge over Barkley. Agree or not, it's a clever and accurate argument. Yeah, Barkley DID get to play with Scottie. When they were both WAY past their prime.

      @YoshLovesYou@YoshLovesYou9 жыл бұрын
    • ***** You're trying to tell me Pippen wasn't there or something? Like I just said, Agree with Barkley or disagree. All I said is I like what he's saying. He makes a point. Pippen was a huge weapon in MJ's arsenal. How are Jordan's stats gonna mean Pippen wasn't helping him? I don't remember the par tin the 93 season where Jordan was playing alone. Maybe then the stats would be more persuasive.

      @YoshLovesYou@YoshLovesYou9 жыл бұрын
    • ***** I am from Chicago, born and raised, lifelong and the very FIRST thing Michael Jordan (himself) said during his enshrinement, first thing he said and fully acknowledged was "Scottie Pippen" he fully realizes he would have won (nothing) without Scottie Pippen....That's why both he AND Scottie have statues and banners here in Chicago....

      @howardboyd7764@howardboyd77649 жыл бұрын
    • Howard Boyd Michael's speech was awful though lol I found it hard to even listen to all of it, it would have been much more poignant if he had treated everyone he mentioned with the same respect as he did Scottie. Without Pippen, Mike wouldn't have won 6, and vise versa, they needed each other. He is still (comfortably in my eyes) the best ever, and to be fair he has always given credit to Pippen. Anyways Chuck was obviously joking.

    • +Bob Walker Obviously Charles isn't a rocket scientist, but I wouldn't say he's "not intelligent" in terms of a Rhodes Scholar, but he is smart in that he has good common sense and instincts. Then when you combine those attributes with a guy who TRULY speaks his mind (and says to hell with PC, thankfully) the way few other people can, then that's quite a formidable individual. And I say this as a hardcore Celtics fan, so it's not like I have a bias or ulterior motive in favor of Charles. But he was not only one of the greatest players ever, but is truly just one of a kind as an all-around person.

Especially these days where flexing is very important to a lot of kids. Flexing gets you know where, its deciding to not but that chain, not to buy that designer belt, not to buy all expensive things but to save that money. Thats what makes you successful in the long run. 75% of these rappers these kids look up to will be broke bums by the age of 50 because they "had" to buy that 50,000 dollar chain for that music video and they "had" to buy a new pair of expensive shoes every other day and didnt save most that money. • Absolutely. The talent was so evenly spread among the league during those decades. Almost every team had at least one legendary player leading the troops. This made the competition so wonderful. When it came time for the playoffs, these legends met and created the fiercest battles for the crown. Cannot be topped today, when the league has become so lobsided with every talented player belonging or heading to the Western Conference, and joining forces if they can't beat one another in heated battles. Love the '80s and '90s basketball forever.

I'm glad we get to see him on TV all the time as he always brings a smile to our faces along with excellent basketball analysis. Charles might not want to be a role model but he's sure a great guy.

  • Growing up I “discovered” Charles because my sister loved the 76ers (Dr J). As an athletic but pudgy kid at the time myself, I was drawn to admire Charle’s drive to succeed & determination to do things on his own terms, as the “Round mound of rebound”. As Charles himself I bet would agree at this point, doing things your own way sometimes causes you problems, but for some it is the only way they can be. And yet, as shown in the video, what a gracious and thoughtful man he is at heart.

  • I was lucky enough to be from the Philly area and closely watch the heartbreaks of the early 80s, and the Championship in 83. We thought that team was going to be great forever, but they weren't. We had Barkley though. Even as the team got old real fast and slid down, he was always giving maximum effort. I especially came to love just listening to his incredible honesty. Lots of people didn't like it but I sure did. Nobody ever told it exactly like it was, both on and off the court like Charles. He is still my all time favorite Philly athlete, by far. I could listen to him talk about taking the trash out and I know he would make me laugh and probably make me think. Simply the BEST.

  • He was the MOST DOMINANT power forward of his era, especially when you consider his size! Mind you, he had to play Malone, Mchale, Rodman, Kemp, Grant, etc. Three to four times a year… Could dribble, rebound, post, shoot free throws, amazing jump shooter, could take people off the dribble and also shoot the three. On top of that, he was a really good defender!!! Absolute complete package!

  • I won't forget the first time I realized how good Barkley was. I was maybe 18 and watched him playing for the Sixers and the effort he displayed was just amazing. The guy NEVER quit, this overweight, not especially tall guy was banging with Lambier and Mahorn, scrapping with Rodman and Bird. Barkley stood out in a era where it wasn't easy.

It was an emotional moment. Then he eventually relaxed and was very eloquent in his recognition of people.

    • dagameplayer The fact that Barkley attempted and made 3's while he was arguably the most undersized 4 man in history all while still banging in the post is the reason why I enjoy him more than TD, despite the fact that I loved Barkley since I saw him in Space Jam as a kid. Tim and Karl were very old school (nothing wrong with that), but Barkley, Laimbeer and Arvydas Sabonis have taught us that Big Men don't always have to think BIG. BIG meaning only mid range and post up shots only. Guys like those 3 were the REAL blueprints of positionless basketball despite the Golden State Warriors being the current spokesmen for that style of ball. Without those 3, Dirk, Rasheed, Brad Miller, Matt Bonner and all other complete bigs in terms of ability and not being complete statistically would've probably never happened, or at least happened the way they did.
