  • Would anyone happen to know why there are two versions of this train? I’ve seen some rains with remote have the two track system. Then other trains with the remote have a 3 track system ? I just purchased a second hand PE train set. My system uses a 3 track system with no remote. For some reason, when ever I engage the throttle the train goes reverse first. Then when I set the throttle to zero. And lift again, it’ll go into its neutral setting, then I have to set it down once more and it’ll move forward. The switch inside of the locomotive is set to on for reverse. If I see the reverse setting to off. It’ll only go into reverse. Is there something wrong with the unit I have?

    • Your engine does sound like it has a problem. Lionel has the rights to produce The Polar Express set. They made this is all the different scale/gauges they produce. Lionel made one version for Lionel three rail track, I believe O-27. Lionel made another version for their American Flyer S gauge line of trains, which is 2 rail track. Maybe that's what your thinking of? They also made it for their HO scale trains (which is also 2 rail) and I believe battery operated G scale (also 2 rail) No Legacy version as of yet in any gauge. BTW the American Flyer version is probably your best bet. They created all new tooling for it, a proper Berkshire engine just like the movie.

    • The 3 track is the bigger train and the 2 track is a smaller size. Different sizes for people with different needs. Really no difference just really depends on your likes.

  • Anyone know how to get back the sounds on this 2021 Lionchief Polar Express? The sounds worked for the last week and now as of this morning, 12/18/2022, no more sounds and can't find anything on forums, Google or KZhead on how to attempt a fix for this. I've tried the Bluetooth app, replacing remote controls batteries, disconnecting the engine from the coal tenders connections with both power on and off. Still nothing. Called Lionel Tech Support and they said try pressing all 3 buttons down. Then turn the throttle all the way forward. Still nothing.
