O-Rings? O-Yeah! How to Select, Design, and Install O-Ring Seals

2024 ж. 1 Мам.
1 352 190 Рет қаралды

O-rings are the epitome of elegant engineering: The ring itself costs only a few cents, and the groove it goes in is simple and easy to manufacture. But despite this simplicity, the resulting seal is able to reliably hold many thousands of psi of pressure. O-rings are definitely a machine design component you’ll want to be familiar with, and in this video, we’re going to tell you all about how to design seals with them.

    • Not really, think about it, watching a video explain everything is fun and easy. But to remember every detail so that you can use it to score in exams is tough. Once you have to memorise stuff, it gets difficult.

  • I remember having to actually read a good bit of the Parker O-ring Handbook while designing a component for my school's FSAE car about 13 years ago. This summarizes the key points beautifully. Now where the heck was this video 13 years ago!? Seriously, good job! Also, for viewers: when in doubt, incorporate a plug seal in your design. You don't run into the face seal component deflection problems and if you do it right, you only need one external groove that's easy to make & change seals on.
