O-Rings? O-Yeah! How to Select, Design, and Install O-Ring Seals
O-rings are the epitome of elegant engineering: The ring itself costs only a few cents, and the groove it goes in is simple and easy to manufacture. But despite this simplicity, the resulting seal is able to reliably hold many thousands of psi of pressure. O-rings are definitely a machine design component you’ll want to be familiar with, and in this video, we’re going to tell you all about how to design seals with them.

I used youtube to get through engineering Schooling. Now I'm using KZhead to keep me employed
Saaaaaame 🤣🤣
If you stop learning then you stop progressing.
@@anikidwolfy ???
A fellow KZhead U!
@@anikidwolfy yeah, you can drop out of an industry for a year and be entirely obsolete
It’s amazing how much more interested in learning I am when I’m not forced to learn
Absolutly! Goes to show that school could and should become obsolete as self learning becomes a thing.
Not really, think about it, watching a video explain everything is fun and easy. But to remember every detail so that you can use it to score in exams is tough. Once you have to memorise stuff, it gets difficult.
@@glaucomflecken says the guy who easily memorized every diagnosis conceivable
Haha, I know, right? It also shows how our education system could be vastly improved for so many people.
You ARE being FORCED ! . . . In thru your eyes and ears into your brain.
I'm officially enrolled at KZhead University
Ditto
Yep, these guys do a great job!
With more freedom (choosing what you like) and higher efficiency
Same
Yeah, me too.
You earned my subscription with 2 minutes of video! I've never seen a video so full of useful and straight to the point information. It's not a video for everyone, but for those who need it, oh boy... No bulshit, no flares just pure knowledge and information. As a fellow engineer I can say nothing but Respect! 👏👏👏
LOL they’ve had one video this year. 2 last year.
Wow it’s like I’m in engineering school but the instructors speak English and have experience in industry
but they speak just as fast as Cubans
@@dodgeplow I put the playback speed @ 75% (settings). Yeah she was talking at light speed!
@@St-py3qw Thanks, I had forgotten that I could slow it down myself.
I have no reason to be here BUT , this video was clean-cut and very informative
I'm glad they made these videos quiet enough so my engineer leads won't hear what I'm doing. Great content, thank you!
It is 5 AM and I have not slept yet, yet I find myself in places like these.
These videos are super helpful to anyone working in the engineering field. If you not sure how to do something, this channel can show you how to do it properly. Awesome work!!!
This channel is one of my best findings in youtube lately. Great work guys and thanks for sharing that, I wish you the best!
This is one of the best videos on O-rings on youtube. I've watched it probably four times over the last three years, come back to it any time I need to design another O ring just for a refresher.
As a mechanic I have needed this info for decades! Thank you!
I dont care what you work on, but if youre a mechanic with any experience you would know that, aside from excessive crank case pressure, the leading cause of an oil leak is the hardening of the seal/o-ring.
@@MMSieBreeze Crankshafts don't use O'rings. They use single lip seals. I was referring to the engineering aspects....I work on a lot of shit that isn't an engine.
This is literal gold. Great video, I wish I watched this years ago! -MS Mechanical Engineer
This channel is amazing! Please keep up the great work
That O' ring sealing in soo satisfying in many ways.
I never saw a course that precise and that short ! Much thanks
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world!
This is such a good channel. High information density and no fluff.
Proud to be a o-ring manufacturer.
Outstanding video...I wish more technical content on KZhead was like this! Thank you!
FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for this series.
Love what you do, keep them coming.
I am a trainee engineer these videos are very helpful.
Thanks guys, really useful. I'd love to see some content on designing with linear motion components like linear rails, ballscrews/nuts, etc.
Very informative , increasing our knowledge hydraulics seals & packings selecting suitable new materials
As a BSME this is amazing to see
Fantastic. Thanks for taking the mystery out.
This was literally more informative than an entire course credit on manufacturing processes
Thanks for sucha useful, no frills, no bs vid
Thank you so much for this excellent summary!
I just discovered you yesterday, and have pretty much watched all of your stuff. Amazing content, keep it up
This is brilliant....straight to the point, clear and understandable.
Gracias por compartir esta excelente información para todos aquellos que utilizamos estos aparentemente simples elementos de sellado estático y dinámico.
Really loved the video. Would love to see more about the material o-rings are made, like silicon. Thanks!
Great wideo, just what I needed :) thank you!
Great video! That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot! :)
This is such a good video!! Very practically useful, you talk about application, standards, etc all very useful info for design! Instant sub
This channel is the most underrated channel in existence
Nice refresher. thank you guys
Very clear and informative. Good job!
Thank you, such valuable information!
This was an excellent and informative video! Thank you. Subscribed!
you have successfully summed up an entire 3-week course at my school and provided much clearer information, INCREDIBLE VIDEO!!!! my professor needs to take notes XD
What an amazing video!! Bravo. I see you don't have much content, please don't stop. youtube need more of this!
The best chanel I have found this year 😊 just keep going! 😁
Love the video! Very informative and straight to the point. The designs of the instructional diagrams were to the point. I have an idea for a future video - Ring and Full Face Gasketing. Would be awesome to see your take on it. Subscribed!
Thank you so much Sir for the Insight!
Thus video was quite helpful. I've got a design I've been trying to figure out for a while now and I finally got some questions answered here. I appreciate it!
Great work, thank you so much!
This is simply fascinating
Who are you and why is your content so good? Where have you been all my life?!
Thanks this is EXACTLY what I was looking for.
Thanks for doing these videos.
I honestly had no idea there was so much involved with designing a good o-ring seal.
Lowly o rings get no respect. Thanks for showing us the incredible engineering that goes into them.
Well done video, thank you!
Thank you so much for this video !!
high quality and informative video, thanks a lot
Thanks!
where was this video 4 years ago when I needed it for my Final project ?
Wow! Incredible
Super informative great video Thank you for Sharing
Fantastic video! I make stuff. This organized information is priceless.
Awesome, very comprehensive
That was amazing holy cow
This is great. I needed advice from real engineers.
Thanks for the information. 👌
The tolerances mentioned are for usage at 1000 psi, can we have wider tolerances if the pressure is lower like 100 psi?
At first I said video about o rings!!!, but they can withstand thousands of PSI now I am in love, and there are one for dynamic applications also OMG.
How did I only find this channel now! This is great
Great video!
Very helpful! Thanks!
Wow... 👏😮 amazingly informative
Thanks Tarkka !

amazing for the video
Learned a lot. Thanks! Really enjoying the videos
Great! Thanks!
Amazing channel!!
Excellent video. Was wondering how to find the recommended squeeze for a face seal and now I know. 20-30%
Excellent video. From a practising engineer. Fundamentals.
I'm in a better and I am trying to complete my prototype of my product and I would really like to speak with you people about what I need to do and how it can be done I believe that you are the people that I've been looking for.
I remember having to actually read a good bit of the Parker O-ring Handbook while designing a component for my school's FSAE car about 13 years ago. This summarizes the key points beautifully. Now where the heck was this video 13 years ago!? Seriously, good job! Also, for viewers: when in doubt, incorporate a plug seal in your design. You don't run into the face seal component deflection problems and if you do it right, you only need one external groove that's easy to make & change seals on.
excellent content why didn't i find this channel before..
