  • 19 thumbs down. Why can you not like this. Every returning vet should get a thumbs up no matter what his/her deployment was and where. I’m happy to see these responses for our vets. When returning from Vietnam we were hated and spit on. By the same people that demanded we bring our boys home. Go figure.

First, you need to pull back from the politics, it's fogging your brain. Secondly, all types of Americans serve in the military. Don't be foolish!

  • Beautiful! I don't (can't) get tired of watching these reunions. And kudos to the gentleman (I'm sorry but I don't know his name or rank) doing the presentation --- he made it about the families (specifically, this father and daughter) and not the ceremony...you can tell that he enjoyed doing it ("it doesn't get any better than this, does it?") and that is his reward.

  • Thumbs-Up #270 I am, Sunday 4 Mar 2018. It is disgusting to me that someone could give this video a thumbs-down. Probably some bloke that blames this military dad for something that is no fault of his. The daughter loves her dad, simple. How many daughters have dads that cherish them.

  • Remember coming home unexpectedly after a year away overseas in the Navy. I wanted to surprise the family, so I didn't tell anyone. When I got there, everyone was gone -- they'd gone on vacation. Spent the days of leave I had in the empty house, then caught a flight back to my base. It was kind of sad

    • Same thing happened to my husband (before we knew each other). He came home on leave, fall of 1969, to see his parents just to find out they were at the cottage in Northern Michigan at the time. Some surprises don’t work out.

    • He was sent to Vietnam 6 weeks later. So his take on it was at least he got to go home. He’s sorry he didn’t get to see his grandfather again as he passed away Christmas Eve 1969 while he was in the field training with a Starlight scope as a sniper.

  • It's not only soldiers who are for extended periods are separated from their loved ones. Diplomatic staff, NGO-staff in developing countries, companies which placed staff in far away places. And ask airlines like British Airways about their "lollipop flights" around Christmas taking unaccompanied minors halfway or more around the globe.

  • Thank you for sharing with me this video. I would like to share with you a very positive promise... The Bible foretells a time when peace will be achieved not through mankind. Psalm 46:9 says regarding the Creator, Jehovah God: “He is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth.” Jehovah God will accomplish true peace by means of his Kingdom, for which many sincere people have repeatedly prayed Matthew 6:9, 10: "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth." His Kingdom is not an elusive condition of the heart; it is a real government through which God will establish peace from one end of the earth to the other. The inspired prophet Isaiah foretold that subjects of that government will not “learn war anymore.” (Isaiah 2:4) By means of a worldwide educational program, people will learn to live in peace and thus “beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears.”
