We head out on an extreme winter camping adventure with our Jeeps. Despite an extreme winter weather alert, @TheStoryTillNow and I are set on having an awesome adventure in the cold and snow! Shaun is camping in his GFC Camper on his Jeep Gladiator and I am camping in my Shiftpod Mini 3 that I managed to fit into my Ecodiesel Jeep Wrangler. We head deep into the mountains towards a lake before the storm, but wake up to some very extreme snow in the morning that leaves us with an interesting adventure to get back home!

    • Why not doing the spring or summer yeah I'll put up reflector lights you know the ones being at the end of people driveways. Yeah I will put them in a tree what color to direct you when you coming and another color for when y'all leaving what's a little cheap roof over it so snow won't stick to it. 11-02-23

  • Would suggest hacking your ground tarp just shy of the dimensions of the Pod. The way you have it now (during rain) would allow water to go directly between the tarp and the tent bottom. A normal ground tarp/foot print is usually shaped just to fit or under fit the tent shape to keep 90% of dirt away from the tent bottom, and either rain or ground moisture from it as well. Winter probably isn't going to be as big of an issue.

  • Living in North Sweden near the arctic circle where we have quite much snow each winter I do stress the need to keep all windows and all sights free from blocking snow before you start driving, if you have that much snow obstruktion your sights you have that much less situation awernes and might not see the danger you drive into, particularly in the offroad. I've once made that mistake myself, it was a rough wakeup to always take the extra few minutes to do it right and clear all the snow off.

Snow ploy crews tried to get me to leave but since I already had a lift ticket I refused. Took a little digging out in the morning but hey that’s the way it goes in CA. Looks like you had a trip to remember for a lifetime

  • Good to see you back on the trails guy! 🤩👍 That's a cool ass tent though! I need to purchase one of those in the future! An idea for future deep snow adventures, it might not be a bad idea to place tall poles in the ground with neon rope on the top so that you know how to get back out if the snow covers your route. Could buy those reflectors you put at the end of your driveway that the snow plows always tear up! 😂😉 Such a great video! Thanks for posting! That's one of the things I love about when you and Sean get together for outings, you get your perspective but then you also get Sean's perspective when you go and watch his videos. Super cool! Looking forward to the next one!

Looks like cedar tho' it will burn fast. 12:18 I think I heard you say on another video you are 6' 3" can you stand up in that tent or are you hunched over? 29:18 VHF Frequency146.460 are you running naked on that frequency or are you licensed? 36:10 I was hoping to attend Easter Jeep Safari but I have to much stuff up in the air (selling a house and planning a move to Alberta) to attend this year. 37:03 POV off road experience, not a fan while driving, image stabilization is not bad but there is to much side to side movement for me.

We could mostly only see a little through the windshield directly in front of you. Cutting in some shots from your dash mount GoPro would've been cool, but on the snow day, that might've only showed the ice/snow built up on your hood. All in all, it was still a fun video to watch. I have the shiftpod mini never thought about setting it up in the snow the next time I'm going to give it a try. Fresh snow is usually dry so I think I'm going to go without the rainfly for ease of setup and to prevent what happened to you. And assure the ventilation through my windows does not become obstructed. They use those shiftpods on Mount Everest in some of the worst blizzard conditions so they're built for it.

  • Very interesting and informative video. Beautiful area. Suggestion, when capturing video with your cell phone, hold it horizontal. Otherwise to use viewers it appears we are looking through a keyhole or wearing horse blinders. A cell phone video with the phone held vertically cuts off the left one-third and right one-third cut off of the scene, thus a stick video; not good to watch. Reason, from the time we are born we see our world considerably more horizontal than vertical. Also, every computer screen, TV screen, movie theater screen are horizontal not vertical tall and narrow.
