Winter SNOW STORM Breakdown! We Barely Got Out...
With heavy snow in the forecast, @BruceCookfmx, @DennyOfTheAlpine and myself head into the mountains with my tracked Jeep Gladiator, and a Wrangler on 40s. I have major problems with my tracks, and get stuck in a frozen mudhole. Now we're in a survival and recovery situation in the worst possible conditions.

Hey friends! I hope you enjoy this adventure. I've set a personal goal for this channel to reach 1,000,000 subscribers by the end of 2025. Why 1 million? All the goals I've set so far for this channel we've blown right past with ease. Just like when I'm out on my adventures, I want to challenge myself. I want to make THE BEST off-road content on KZhead. If I can hit this goal, I'll know I'm really doing it. If you feel like I am, hit the like on this video and smash the subscribe button to help me on my road to a million! I love you guys.
You're gonna get 2 million by 2025.
1,000,000 man TSTN Army. Sounds intimidating! lol Good work, love watching your show!
Hey Sean been subscribed for a couple years. You are why i bought a Wrangler. Ordered one brand new 2 years ago. Now it's on 38s, PSC hydro, metalcloak 3.5 lift. Rubicon axle swap, on board air, on board gmrs, running out of things besides coilovers and big axles. I tell everyone i know that wheels to subscribe keep up your hard work. Love all of your videos.
Semoga terkabulkan apa yg Anda kehendaki. Semangat terus & semoga sehat selalu.🙏
What an EPIC Episode, and what an Ordeal you Guys had !!! !!!!! And 1,000,000 WILL Happen !!!!! You DO make THE BEST content Shaun, Keep on doing what you're doing...FUCKING LOVE IT..🤘🤘
This is the single greatest episode of TSTN of all time. No contest. Well done Shaun - love it! Keep on killing it. You’ll hit 1M subs for sure!
Thanks buddy! I appreciate it.
Sadly this seems to happen often with tracks! They work really well until you're in a situation where they fail and it goes sideways really quickly. Glad you made it out!
Shaun, wonderful episode........it makes me happy I retired almost two years ago! For many years (27) I worked as a mechanic at a major Colorado ski resort and I really can't count the times I was re-tracking vehicles in the middle of a cold snowy night often on ski slopes in excess of 35 degrees. Most of the time it was on either a Pisten Bully or Bombardier (Prinoth) snow cat with tracks weighing 100's of kilos. We also ran side by sides with track systems very similar to what you're running on the Trail Destroyer. When you posted the episode about tracking up the Trail Destroyer, I held a strong premonition of what possibly might happen as it did in this episode. Tracked vehicles over the snow are amazing.......UNTIL THEY'RE NOT, as you now well know. Hope you will get to run them in some springtime snow conditions where they can be even more amazing. I'm happy I live 2 hours from Moab for winter wheeling with little snow. You've brought back many good and not so good memories, LMAO and enjoying my TSTN hoodie.....it's nice, Thanks!
I'm kind of thinking its the high RPM's. That track compound material heats up even when its tight and stretches.
I definitely bein there!!! As well as changing a transmission in the middle of the bush in -30s cuz when your doing seismic you are the repair crew 😂 definitely remember some late nights wrenching
Dude you got some solid friends
Your story, your editing, your videos are spot on. Nobody does it like you! Keep up the good work Shaun. It’s paying off.
Thank you!
The tough part is the snow blindness .... Everything blends together and you can tell bumps and ditches to flat ground. It all looks smooth.
Tracks are so overhyped. More problems than not.
Casey de lavelle made modifications to his tracks to stop this situation eg. replaced plastic cogs with metal ones with longer teeth. Hopefully that helps✌️
I’ve been talking with him 👍🏻
Great video. The drive wheel shouldnt be Skipping on the chain of the track's. They were from the time you left the trailer. Driving home safely is the Prize. Always be Safe Brother's
Those night shots flying between the trees was dope! Keep killing it and creating great content!
Ask anyone from the Armed forces and they can tell you what a high maintenance pain in the butt tracks are. You had enough hands, a wheeled vehicle and the patience, never losing your cool to pull it off and make the trip a success. Hopefully the manufacturer will also learn from your experience and make some improvements to the design.
All you need for this kind of fun, is super swampers 44, on portal axels, lockers and that's all. Of course an hemi engine, but you already got one. If you would have went there alone and get you tracks broken and have 2 meters of snow in one night, you would have been in serious trouble!! Stay safe!
Great video as always, Shaun!! Not that I was ever going to drop north of $10k on tracks, but this pretty much sealed for me that they would be a disadvantage for the type of wheeling I like. Appreciate it!!
If you aren't getting stuck the snow isn't deep enough yet! Great video Shaun!
😂 better yet, if you’re getting stuck with tracks, you’re going to be screwed lol
Looks like as the new you use the tracks you'll know what to have with you. Appears to me a high lift jack and maybe a spare tire or preferably 2 would get you out of a pickle to flat ground ( no hidden mud/icehole) and you could keep trucking. Good video on overcoming unusual circumstances!
Love that you put it all out there without worrying too much about the consequences. Its fun to see what your Gladiator is capable of. You've got some good friends hangin' with you too. Good luck hitting 1 mil!
Wow Shaun! For every episode this channels just gets better and better! That "battle" part felt like it was out of a movie! Happy that you have help with a camera man! Keep up the good work!
Brings a new meaning to "Maxtrax just for looks!" lol
So glad you got out of that mess! I broke through ice on the trail like that once in - 23 and ended up having to walk out for help after breaking all my recovery gear.
What trax are you using? Helltraxx??
Can’t wait to see if you guys survive!
Says the devil on his left shoulder!!!! lol!!!
That is so cool. Both of those rigs cutting fresh snow looks like an amazing day!
Love that you continue to show the beautiful, the broken, and the downright shitty of going out on the trails. Also, be sure to give the drone assistant a good Christmas bonus this year for another strong performance!
well, you found the limitations of the tracks that's for sure! Now to make a field repair manual
This is gonna be snow good!
The tracks seem to be more of a hindrance than an improvement.
It's going to be a Great winter for TSTN! I'm along for the adventures!
Great video Shawn, love the tracks. The trail wrecker looks so awesome out there in the deep snow. Merry Christmas to you and the whole family.
Glad everyone is safe so cool watch her plow thru the snow great stuff guys as always be safe 👍👍👍❤️
We flip rear tracks way more than the front and ended up putting limiting chains on the rear with ver little slack. Also with lockers they are less likely to independently flip. We are always down to meet up and take the tracked rigs out in idaho
It's really tough to know how tight to get those tracks without starting to burn out bearings, but if the track is slipping on the main drive "sprocket", they aren't tight enough. Good job getting it out and what a great group of guys!
Nope, if they are tight enough that they don’t slip with a rig that powerful, they are WAY too tight and will constantly be going through bogie bearings
@@CaseyLaDelle with him barely touching the gas climbing that hill, they certainly looked too loose.
@@BlownF1501I’d agree on that too. Mine are much tighter.
@@CaseyLaDelleWas there an add on sprocket that you ended up using??
@@Justjeepingadventures I totally get that they were worse after Shawn's trail side repair, Looks like they had to back them right off to pop them back on. Maybe they were good before that. I'm not familiar with that particular brand, but I think you, Casey and Shawn are all running them. My friend designed and makes a very similar style system and offers external drivers if ratcheting is still an issue when tensioned properly (usually deep snow or high HP applications). Hopefully the Manufacturer of yours offers a deflection spec or something of the like to set the tension. Extra internal or external drivers are always good IMO too. All tracks stretch initially and it's good to have some targeted tools on hand to make life easier and check them regularly. After rotating a track on a truck in a beaver rut, I always recommend carrying tools and having a good anti-rotation set up.
It appears that the tracks are not as trusty as regular old wheels. They seem fun for sure, but the other jeep is exactly where your Jeep made it. Thanks for showing us that they are more of "for fun".
The tracks are sooo cool! It’s honestly mesmerizing, also that wrap just looks so cool in the winter weather
when the word Epic isn't enough...#BAD ASS
Good Promenade in the snow!!!!
Keep going guys! Love your vids, hope to visit Canada one day to see all this nature beauty myself
Thanks For The Ride !!❤👍
At one point when you were stuck, you were kicking up snow in front of your amber fogs and it looked like SPARKS flying! Love those ambers for driving in the snow at night!
Crazy adventure, team work got you out safely, looking forward to seeing your next adventure
Awesome video! It sucks when things like that happen. The knowledge and experience are priceless. Thank you for sharing!
Awesome cinematography! Seems like the tracks definitely have a limit. Glad to see you made it out! 👍👍👍
Wow...Glad your crew fixed your track issues..The drive out looks magical at night...Beautiful.Another great video👍
Some of the best offroad content ever. Amazing video. Amazing audio. Thank you!
What a winter wheeling beast! love how your Gladiator has evolved since you got it!
Man, can't wait to get out with you with these!! What a blast!!!!!
Me too!
Shaun you definitely earned it this time out! Nothing beats doing mechanic work in the alpine during a snowstorm at night
Great video! And I love the intro with the Jeep rolling by on tracks and up pops one of your sponsors..... Toyo Tires😂. Maybe you can get Chevrolet to sign on!
We run Toyo Tires most of the year.
@@TheStoryTillNow Oh I realize that, I just thought it was ironic. Like filming a Wendy's commercial while eating a Big Mac!
I'll tell ya what, I'm gonna subscribe right now because of that!
The snow storm adventure is worth watching ..!!
Another great Video Shaun! Keep up the good work and let’s get that 1 million ❤️❤️❤️✨
Always a Good Job when you can get home safe.
Great video Shaun .
Totally agree with all the lights on
The idea of tracks is great, but lots more to deal with when something goes wrong. Great video as always.
Dang, epic journey into the snowy country. Glad the tracks were able to be fixed and y'all got out of there before the Abominable Snowman caught you guys and turned you all into a delicious BBQ! Those snowy nighttime driving scenes in the woods are beautiful! Cheers!
glad you got out. I didn't think of using matrix as a jack base- thanks for giving me ideas. I already have a 8x7" steel base attached to a bottle jack. the boards will provide extra float on snow.
Great stuff always !!!
Absolutely love your story till now!!❤
Getting a Ton of motivation from this Video! Super cool story, Excellent video.
It’s cloudy and raining here in the Phoenix area today and this video is the cherry on top. Thanks Shaun!
I’m excited to get to see more snow content, I’m jealous there is no snow here is Wisconsin for snowmobiling.
Outstanding video editing and a great adventure. Sometimes sh*t happens and it’s good to have friends.
Awesome vid dude!!
kudos to the group for having the right tools and enough bodies to deal with this situation. It'll be quite a story to tell over a few beers later for sure.
Great video..love all the snow..tracks are great till something goes wrong..then the work begins..keep up the great videos.
Thanks, will do!
Damn y'all had me sweatin bullets! Lol glad you all made it out ok. Also very impressed how well Bruce's jeep did in such deep snow!
3PSI and light throttle does wonders! 😅🍻
3? 🤯 LOL! At what point do you just say f'it to air all together? 😂 jk... great drivin' skills bud 😎
@@mikeharris7229 thanks buddy. On that note though, I’ve tried and below that your rim starts to contact the tire so you are actually making more ground pressure so for my vehicle/tire set up, 2-3 is my sweet spot for when it gets real 🤣
I agree with the comments below that this channel is getting better every time. I love your channel. I hope you hit a million in 2024!!!! If I could give you any advice as a viewer, I enjoy the why did I put tracks on my Jeep. How do they work. At one point it seemed that the rear passenger was skipping.. Was that because of incorrect tension on the tracks? Is the tension automatic like a fan belt, or manually adjustable? I guess what I am to say is: We want to see the preparation, the journey, and then the adjustments to what went wrong. Good luck on hitting 1 Million!!!!!
They're still breaking in so they require re-tentioning and I waited too long to do so. It's a learning process. Once they are dialed in I don't expect to have many issues. But we will see. It's all fun to me.
Amazing video alot of information you can absorb.!
Another awesome video those night video parts were amazing
subscribed! This channel is epic! Looking to get into this hobby soon! Huge inspiration getting into this next adventure! Cant wait for more content! Keep crushing it
Have a safe & happy holiday season Shawn & family...And Subs! All the best in 24!
To you and yours as well!
Great snow adventure Shaun! Thanks for sharing! 🤙 On my opinion some big tires are the best choice. The 40s on the Wrangler worked very well. 😊
I saw a video where someone's track slipped off but I never would have guessed they'd tip up like it did.. dang. Thanks for the video
Awesome video as always Shaun. Glad y'all made home ok when y'all were working on the tracks with the Jeep jacked up it was a sketchy situation. But y'all made it out safe that's the only thing that matters.
We learned a lot and the next trip was a lot more successful! That video is coming soon.
I just came across this channel today and immediately subscribed. Awesome channel!! Love the videos!
Thank you!
Dude is leaving 2ft track in fresh snow and is worried about not being able to find his way out 😂 I love this dude
You understand what happens when it snows right? It can easily snow 2 feet or more overnight here.
He also crossed a lot of open areas, and where we live in an active storm like that wind can cover tracks in 10 minutes 👀❄️ impossible to predict
I love how much your channel is blowing up man! Feels like just the other day you were aiming for 100k subs! Keep up the insanely good high quality work man! :)
Thank you! 🙏
Hey Shaun, I started watching your videos last winter when you were snow wheeling and thought you should try a set of Mattracks. I have some on a 2000 Dodge Dakota in Oregon. They are amazing and have a torsion bar to keep the tracks from rotating. Also very heavy duty. We run them all winter hunting bob cats. Keep up the great videos.
My son introduced me to your amazing videos, and I couldn't be happier! It's a blast to watch you go on adventures that I can only dream of! Great work! I'll share this video in hopes of boosting subscribers.
Thank you!
Incredible video! That was some serious snow!! Love your videos Shaun. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Man! Never talk about breaking something while on the trail. Its bound to happen if you do. Great video! Thanks for sharing.
let's have more videos on tracks
Wow, you guys are amazing!
I love these snow videos post more pls!
I just started watching you guys yesterday, but about after 3 videos it makes me want to get my jeep fixed and get my lift, roof rack, and bumpers. Love the adventures I've seen from yall so far.
Thanks Tanner! Glad you're enjoying the videos.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Hey, Your content is awesome. I just came across your channel today and binge watched most of your videos. Keep up the great work. I subscribed, you will hit your target no prob.
Thanks!
great photography on the way out looked unreal
Thanks mate for such an amazing content! I'm not a off-road guy but I and my wife just stuck here xD can't stop to watch so good content and as a videographer I can say - quality is really good! keep it on 💪 And yeap on "tracks" you need to be soooo careful....I had experience to drive Rubicon on tracks in russia and daaaaaym, amazing feeling and opportunities! Is your engine heating fast too? because as I remember that was a kind of problem first time
I told ya you needed bigger tires last winter, not tracks! lol Nice Job Shaun, must have sucked having to deal with this sort of repair out in the elements but you folks brought it back to the trailer in relatively one piece!
Starting to think hard plastic/rubber wheels are a bad call for tracks on the heavy rig. Maybe a set of small trailer tires inside of a track would be a better/more robust design.
Love your storytelling, it’s absolutely awesome. That being said I’d go back to tires and get rid of those tracks.
You deserve 1 million subscribe❤
Happy New Year
Hollywood level visuals! A feast for the eyes. Merry Christmas crew!
Merry Christmas! Thank you
As always love the episodes!!! Coming from a heavy equipment background, keep a propane torch head in the rig, will help a ton to melt the ice out of those tracks if you ever need to make a repair and get the adjusters moving. Can hook it right to your 3lb or 5 on propane tank. Keep up the amazing videos. Always look forward to mondays!!!
Yeah I forgot my torch at home and I sure was regretting it.
The best cinematography award goes to…
i watch these on my 120" projector and these videos are phenomenal!!!
