  • Nice video! You can also talk to Google Translate in Greek. You will see how well it transcribes your Greek, and check the translation into your native language to see that you made sense. Then reverse the languages to see if Google will make any changes in your grammar or vocabulary. Google is like the cat, but it gives back advice and you can see if it understands you, like a person.

  • Wow. If Ellis is only B1 I think I'll give up now. Surely she is B2 at least? I've been trying to learn Greek for four years (once a week for an hour and a half) but to me it sounds like she speaks almost fluently and understands everything you say. After just one year and a few months. That is very impressive. Anyway, I enjoyed this video very much even if it shows me how far I still have to go.

    • Hi, I'm a second generation greek living in the us and my best advice for someone who is trying to learn a language, or to re connect with one as I did, is to listen to greek songs and write down the lyrics in Greek, and below in english or any language you are fluent in. Also, watching kids movies with greek audio and english subtitles or vice-versa is a really good way to laern to speak the language. Greek is a tough language but if you understand the basics, you will come along way. One last thing i want to add is that many english words come from greek origin like catastrophe, technology and geometric terminology! Never give up, everyone learns at different paces. Try to incorporate some greek little by little into your daily life and you will pick it up in an instant. there is no rush! :)

  • Γεια σου Γιούλι, μου άρεσε αυτή η συνέντευξη! Πω πω, Έλλης, μιλάς τόσο καλά, χωρίς να το σκέφτεσαι! ¡Qué envidia!

  • Great video. Thanks a lot. One thing: You said: "Είναι κάτι που χρειάζεται χρόνο και χρειάζεται καιρό". Can you tell me the different between χρόνο and καιρό here?

    @jimmorrison2657@jimmorrison26576 ай бұрын
    • The correct phrasing should have been "Είναι κάτι που χρειάζεται χρόνο" or "Είναι κάτι που παίρνει καιρό" or "Είναι κάτι που παίρνει χρόνο" . Literally all three translate as "It's something that takes time". In other words there's a redundancy if you use both words in the same phrase. Χρόνος and Καιρός in this case are synonyms.

  • Thanks for your great lessons, they are very helpful. Ο αόριστος και ο παρακείμενος are sometimes interchangeable ? Σε αυτό το βίντεο είπε που η Έλλις έχει ήρθει να σε επισκεφτεί. Γιατί οι Έλληνες δεν χρησιμοποιούν τον αόριτο ; (simple past ). Για παράδειγμα : Τώρα η Έλλις ήρθε να με επισκεφτεί Its quite confusing to me
