  • Great comparison. The double layer however may outperform the single layer one with heavier ammos

  • I make frameless elastic band slingshots they shoot just as good as any wrist braced slingshot. Perfect for anything up to 9mm

  • I would have liked to see double vs single thin bands.

  • Really great video brother! This is the kind of data that everybody needs to know. Thanks for taking the time to do this brother!

  • Great video like with most everything that shoots people always make the mistake of assuming bigger is faster and better, thanks for posting ........

  • That was a little extreme comparison I would like to see a closer one with 1m bands. I believe everyone that lighter is better but I still would like to see the comparison more realistic with ammo matched too

    • Lighter bands .50 are great for learning steady aim and target shooting. Far more enjoyable than strong bands which you struggle to hold steady and miss every time. 👍🇬🇧

  • Hey dude! Cool video - I'm pleased to see someone comparing the rubber ammounts. But could you do me a little solid favour? Could you get some LARGE lead shots - like 12 or 18mm maybe - And see which is faster then? I've got a working theory at the minute, but no chronograph myself. It might even be worth your time to shorten the black bands. My going theory is this - the heavier projectiles are gonna be closer to terminal band velocity on heavier bands. That said - it seems your black bands themselves have a fairly slow rubber. Do you know your draw length by any chance?

    @ESAPOWER@ESAPOWER4 жыл бұрын
    • My typical draw length is almost exactly 30 inches. And yes, the huge bands with throw heavy ammo very fast, almost as fast as they throw the lighter stuff. I'm just showing that for most people shooting lighter ammo, the huge heavy bands are useless.

    • @@TheSmoShow1 Totally agreed! But I'd genuinely like to see how fast you can get a Lead ball to go versus a steel!

    • @@TheSmoShow1 , you are drawing to your max, not the double band's monster slingshot max. that's why you got the results you got. to make the test accurate, you'd have to put it in a vise and then pull with both hands as far as they can stretch...good videos any way. Time and effort appreciated.

      @WV591@WV5912 жыл бұрын
    • When I was doing the "over draw" I was pulling as far as the bands could stretch. I promise. If there was any more stretch to them I would have been plenty capable of pulling it farther, but they bottomed out when I did the over draw test. The reason I got the results I did, was because there is not enough potential energy in the bands over come the mass of the bands, tie-ons and pouch. Thinner latex retracts faster because there isn't much mass in the bands. As long as the mass of the projectile doesn't over come the potential energy in the bands, they will send the projectile faster than the thick bands will. Bigger and stronger bands do not equate to faster ammo unless the ammo is too heavy for the thinner bands.

  • Nice video!! Been wondering about this exact thing. What if you double the latex band. I just bought a roll of theraband gold....wondering if you’ve doubled those up? Thanks in advance!

    @troychabot3414@troychabot34143 жыл бұрын
    • I've tried it. But you don't need it unless you're shooting REALLY heavy ammo. A single strip of TheraBand Gold with a good taper will send most ammo pretty quick!

      @TheSmoShow1@TheSmoShow13 жыл бұрын
    • Agree with smo... Done a ton of double layer tbg testing.... Not worth it. Big tapers and different latex all together gives better results. I got some black sniper sling rubber coming in the mail that should do 300+ fps in 3/8's steel. My natural latex single layer shoots 1/2" lead at 200 fps and draw minimally.

      @johnnygunz2300@johnnygunz23002 жыл бұрын
  • The double layers are too long you didn't even stretch them enough, you should make them shorter

    @5raxy178@5raxy1789 күн бұрын
  • It's because the black one is too long.

    @MrRemota@MrRemota3 жыл бұрын
  • The thick bands are too long. The thick bands use a lot of it's energy to unwind own body (It's basically using it's stored energy to stretch back it's excess body weight). If you had the strength to hold them at same distance when they were 40% shorter they would most likely exceed the smaller bands without overdrawing. I actually tried this myself (I don't have something to measure FPS) but the steel balls shot WAY further when I shortened the length of thicker bands. This is of course A "Day to day" use because you need a lot of lat and shoulder strength to keep holding it.

  • Check out 1611torsten channel for thin bands generating high speeds. I mostly shoot double bands with 5/16" steel. Very flat trajectories.

  • So woulda skinny double be better

    @andrewquigley1123@andrewquigley11233 жыл бұрын
    • Yes. But not twice as good. May not be worth it considering it doubles the draw weight. Probably better to use a wider taper
