二日酔いの治療法 - The Hangover Cure

Drunk salary men stumbling through Tokyo's subway system are an all too common picture. Even on weekdays, it's not uncommon for the average worker to be pressured to follow their bosses after work - sometimes on a daily basis - to binge drink late into the night only to clock in at work the next day at 8 AM. As a way to prevent hangovers, 'hangover cure' drinks are sold at most convenient stores at about $2 a piece. We decided to go out and find out which drink was the most effective by getting shit faced with our friends.

  • the real hangover cure: drink water before you go out drinking! hangovers are caused by dehydration- well the headache you get from one anyways, either way drinking water before consuming a lot of alcohol does the trick, not clam juice or anything else, water!

  • Japanese is such a notoriously difficult language to learn, anytime I see a non-Japanese person speak it so perfectly (to a non speaker's ear, of course), I have so much respect for him... Then again, seeing as he lives there and has to make videos in Japanese, maybe it's eh. But still, cool nonetheless.

    @ryanpersaud9942@ryanpersaud994210 жыл бұрын

    • sounds contrived because perhaps he's not as adept at reading from script... Otherwise by and large he sounded ok. I've heard far worse. He'll get better I'm sure.

      @serendipitous6@serendipitous610 жыл бұрын
    • serendipitous6 I don't think it was just the script tho'. You can clearly hear that he stresses the words on the wrong places and pronounces them in a very ''english'' kind of a way. He also mixes polite japanese and slang/everyday japanese, which confuses the listener. If he started with a very polite speech, he should have ended it that way as well. I am not saying his japanese is bad, but come on-if you are a reporter for a documentary you should at least practice and have someone check your speech before publishing it, otherwise it just looks like a cheap home made documentary.

      @AikoKurea9@AikoKurea910 жыл бұрын
    • Yes. I totally agree with your take. He should have been consistent. I suppose that perspective didn't register as much with me because this is Vice Japan covering hangover cures and not NHK (heh heh)... My point being that it is my impression that most people would only halfheartedly take the presenter seriously given the content covered.

      @serendipitous6@serendipitous610 жыл бұрын
    • serendipitous6 Yeah well, regarding the topic- if it was not meant to be a serious documentary, I don't know why did he even bother with the whole polite speech, because by misusing it he just made himself sound like a fool. As I presume they have at least some Japanese people working there, don't tell me not even one person couldn't point out this to him. And some other minor mistakes could also easily be fixed, so the speech would be at least somehow decent. I am not a native speaker, but I still found at least 3 things he could fix in the beginning(besides the obvious horrible pronunciation).
