Phil is angry that he lost and that's it. It has nothing to do with fairness or reason. Matusow played that hand PERFECTLY. There was no grounds for Helmuth to criticize him in any way. And he was saying, "I've got a bad feeling about this one." 9:41 *Doubtful Hellmuth* - With 4 people in and Hellmuth betting on the flop, good chance he at least paired, because anyone remaining likely paired or had a high pair or is on a flush or straight draw. Ivy just calling rather than raising back hints he doesn't have trips or a higher pair or straight yet. Hellmuth checked on the turn because Hellmuth lives and dies by the slow play, when he should have raised to sniff out Ivy's hand - if Ivy calls he's probably on a draw, if he raises back he probably hit. If 7 8 or Q hadn't come on the turn after Hellmuth checked, Ivy would have taken the free river card with 10 outs to trips or a straight.

The problem with Phil Helmuth is he frequently gives away too much information as to the strength of his hand on the turn. Why would you labour over a call on the turn? Then make a clearly crying call, because you have another street of betting. He has done this sort of thing many times, he gives away his hand. You should only ever do this when it's on the river and the call is final and closing the hand. That said, Helmuth is often touted because his tantrums are funny to watch, however, he is a great player, and always loses with grace in the end.

Phil Hellmuth, a legend in his own mind.
That copium he was trying to peddle when they interviewed him was quite strong "oh yeah Ivey beat me once a while back when I had ... "
Although I get the point you're making, he is a legend of the wsop tournaments. I personally don't think he's as good as he'd like to think at cash games. He's mad if he genuinely thinks he'd be favourite against Phil ivey at a cash game...
Pokerroom stuff, the dumpster is a designated breakfast restaurant.
Dude does have like the most bracelets in poker tho. He’s done something right
Not everyone can be a legend like you. Oh, and how many WPT bracelets do you have?
Only Phil can be mad that the floor hasn’t told him to stop swearing, and when they do, he gets upset. Absolutely mind blowing
A 3 year old's Universe is always about them they don't understand any different
Lol. It's like "he didn't tell me the last 5000 times I swore, why is it different now?" Well, maybe because he didnt want to make a big deal out of it and wanted to give you a chance to figure it out on your own, and then figured it wasn't going to stop. Doesn't mean he was ok with it the first 5000 times. FFS
Well he's a crybaby
Phil is angry that he lost and that's it. It has nothing to do with fairness or reason. It has everything to do with the sting it causes his ego, and the ego can twist everything in the world into evil when it is injured. No matter what happens Phil will react to it in anger, simply because he's losing and can't cope.

Phil is always so dead set on _"trapping"_ someone, or outplaying them that he just completely neglects the smart approach in these situations. He says they _"have it every time",_ but the truth is, shoving AJ top pair, w/4 to a straight on the board is just silliness.
Excellent comment.
Yea that was some 1/2 NL shit. Even betting into 4 opponents with AJ on JT9 is a bit questionable. Ivey's call on flop is pretty loose and I think that's why Hellmuth didn't think he would have an 8 that often.
Agree! Almost like he's getting worse the older ge gets.

@@trash08 Yeah but he kept wailing about him having Ks, making the likelihood of him having Ax pretty high. The call was correct.
@@DrOmegaBattleSphere it also makes the likelihood of him having pocked jacks or queens high too. Whatever he was assuming, it was clear he had some type of over pair based on that information alone.

An old saying comes to mind when I think of Phil Hellmuth . . . “A turd in a punch bowl!!!”
Phil must be the only guy at these tables that still don't realize that the game is only HALF luck lol.
Matusow played that hand PERFECTLY. There was no grounds for Helmuth to criticize him in any way. And he was saying, "I've got a bad feeling about this one." Sure maybe that was table talk, but I think he knew he was beat and called anyway. Phil's main problem is that he consistently overvalues his own hand. If you go back and watch all the "bad beats" videos, he's calling or shoving with a pair of queens, or a draw.
He had proper odds after the shove here and at least 40% of the time matusow is facing JJ or better so bad move on his part

Meh... It's relative to the stakes. A 300 big blind swing is nothing (assuming it's 500/1k). An appropriate bankroll should be able to absorb it comfortably; if it can't then he/she shouldn't be in the game at all.

9:41 *Doubtful Hellmuth* - With 4 people in and Hellmuth betting on the flop, good chance he at least paired, because anyone remaining likely paired or had a high pair or is on a flush or straight draw.
Here are all of Hellmuth’s, “Gimme a 100k” time stamped: 2:09 8:28

The problem with Phil Helmuth is he frequently gives away too much information as to the strength of his hand on the turn. Why would you labour over a call on the turn? Then make a clearly crying call, because you have another street of betting. He has done this sort of thing many times, he gives away his hand. You should only ever do this when it's on the river and the call is final and closing the hand. That said, Helmuth is often touted because his tantrums are funny to watch, however, he is a great player, and always loses with grace in the end.
he gets frustrated, and then he levels himself into thinking that he's doing something clever with his talk, when really the whole table knows what his cards are. Especially that table. He can beat the joes but not the pros.
Hellmuth is a great player no doubt but sometimes he has to realize he’s out classed and other pro’s are better. He’s better than 99% of players but the 1% of situations he has got himself into have cost him millions of dollars over the years.
He's a great short stacked player, awful deep stack cash player most $5/$10 would felt him. But Tourny with increasing blinds there's not many better than him, especially considering the longevity of his success
He played that AJo pretty much as bad as humanly possible. The fact that he's done well in tournaments is just a testament to how much of a joke the format and fields are. And he must have run exceedingly good overall.
@@johnforster6030 so thats what he gets for playing a high stakes CASH game with better players. lmao
