All of them but I really like BVS, it’s just too good.
MOS makes me view things differently to Superman as a fictional character, BVS is the perfect continuation to that, and ZSJL released at my worst times, making it my most personal Zack Snyder film. I can't really choose. They are my top 3 films, their trilogy is also my personal best trilogy of all time.
Man of Steel BvS Ultimate Edition Zack Snyder's Justice League.
ZSJL
Watchmen. How perfectly did he cast that film?
Great interview, but I just gotta take a minute to put some respect on Josh Horowitz. From the beginning, this dude was always in support of the snyder cut, always asking the right questions. Appreciate him never selling out in regard to snyder and his DCEU like so many of his colleagues did in the last 8 years. That's integrity.
Fax 💯.
No he was not, he straight up told Jason Momoa to his face on video that no Snyder Cut existed. You can cry semantics and claim he didn't mean a finished cut (which Snyder never claimed existed, only assembly cuts) but he was cocky as shit about it not coming to fruition.
And just in general he’s been killing it with this interviews. These are going to be useful to film students for a long long time.
27:00
It’s not selling out if people just genuinely are over it lmao
“There's no superhero science-fiction film coming out these days where I don't see some influence of Zack.” -Christopher Nolan End. Of. Discussion.
Christopher Nolan himself 🔥
Well that's cap
@@a.r.t93Nolan did say that. Go read up on it.
@@sr7olsniper That's fine if he said it, It's still cap lol
That's very gracious of him to say.
After Rebel Moon 1 & 2 maybe he should consider focus groups , or at least a talented writer .
Or taking up baseball. At the very least he should def hand the camera to someone who knows how to use it. And lose the f-ing slow mo. Hacky stuff. Maybe burn all the old issues of Metal Hurlant he's used for his very dated art direction references while he's at it.
Lifelong Superman fan! Zack Snyder made the cbms i waited my entire life to be made! Favorite Director ever!
Same here. Your words exactly.
Absolutely! He made the CBMs I have always wanted especially with Man of Steel, LOVED it
Love zack Snyder. Important to have people pushing the CB genre like he did. Visionary and pioneer. My goat
Love him or hate him, he's got charisma, can't stop watching interviews with him, such a cool and laid-back dude
man of steel just hits. i really appreciated the new justice league
Hahahahahahaha
He has some films I love, but Rebel Moon is not one of them, but mad respect for someone who can survive and thrive in this industry. Man of Steel, The Watchmen, and Dawn of the Dead are my favorites.
Bro dropped a lot of bombshells in this interview.
I'm Happy for ZACK and Deborah Snyder 😊😊
I loved ZACK SNYDER'S movies
The stupidity of having a directors cut for this film, before its even released is wild
300, MoS, BvS and Watchmen are truly phenomenal classics. There's simply no director who can make a comic book movie better than Zack. What will forever be the saddest thing is that we never had a real DCEU with him as the main producer like Feige, we basically got 2 movies that had dark history behind the scenes and then wb killed dceu by listening to crybabies. Just the idea that people didn't want something deeper and more serious than the dick/ass jokes aka mcu. And now they have given complete freedom to a pedophile who specializes in dick/ass jokes. Just to think, if everything went right, we would already had Justice League trilogy and even a Flashpoint reboot, not to mention Affleck's solo film, Green Corps, New Gods etc. Great director , one of the best, underrated as fuck.
I enjoy Snyders movies. But to say he’s the greatest ever is tough. Nolan was def better and I’d argue the Russos are better. Snyder captured the action though better then any comic book movie I’ve seen.
@@patrickbret1056 NOLAN Imfao, aka the dude who turned Batman into a skinny useless dude in a plastic suit with throat cancer who fights dogs and had his back broken by a random 5'2 dude in a mask, his trilogy also had one of the worst action scenes i've ever seen, oh and he also turned the Joker into an anarchist with a plan, that is opposite of what the Joker is. Nolan got no idea how to make CBM movies, he made a pseudo-realistic detective story about a guy who calls himself Batman but has nothing to do with Batman. The whole trilogy is extremely overrated, not as overrated as TDK alone ofc, but at least this one was ok, the 1st and 3rd movies are laughably bad, only someone who has never read any comics can say it was ok, let alone better than Snyder. Russos? bruh that shit gotta be some kind of trolling or bait i dunno. Goofy ahh civil war aka BvS for 12 year olds, mediocre 2nd cap, avengers iw was actually good and endgame-fan service trash , how can someone compare any of this to 300, watchmen or snyderverse trilogy is beyond me, it's not even close.
I was actually flabberghasted by this comment (and his reply) at first but then I realised this was bait lmao
I completely agree with disgustingnerd. Nolan's trilogy was awesome but it was not CBM trilogy. It was an action/detective/thriller awesome yes but CBM not. Was the Joker's portrayal awesome? Yes it was absolutely epic by Heath but it's not Joker from CB. Is Joaquin Phoenix's Joker awesome? No it's nowhere near Heath's and also Phoenix's version is not even 1% close to CBM where Heath's was let's say 15 maybe 20% close to CB
@alextheGreek7 no Joaquin joker is heavily influenced by the killing joke
Great interview! Thanks for putting these on Spotify too 👍🏾
Zack Snyder is one of the greats !! Great interview Josh, well done !!
I wouldn’t call him one of the greats by any means.. but he seems cool sometimes
@@firstlast9846nah you just hating
@@alexisdominguez9317Youre just being ignorant. He said nothing hateful you just cant accept opinions exist that go against your own
Def one of the great directors and persons in the industry
Lets see if you agree with that after watching rebel moon 2
Honestly after watching Part 1 I'm just gonna wait for both directors cuts to come out
This was an amazing interview, Josh 👍💯. Great seeing Snyder on the pod.
Its sad that everything today either sucks or its great lol no middle ground. Zack has made some epics and he really goes for it. Man of steel is my favorite film of his bc it had been nothing I'd ever seen before when it came out. The Russel Crowe/Henry Cavill scenes are just so beautiful. The mix with Hanz Zimmer Music to first flight was just chefs kiss perfect.
Maybe the best interview of Zack ive seen, he clearly had a great time. Well done.
Great Interview Josh...as always!
Love this long interviews from Snyder from this to Rogan ❤❤ I can't wait for the directors cut
This is incredible, really awesome!!
I have full Respect for ZACK and Deborah Snyder 1,000 percent with heart ❤️ and Soul
As far as films go, Snyder is hit or miss with me. However, I love hearing him talk about the business and filmmaking. This interview did not disappoint. So entertaining. Bravo!
Zack is awesome! Fav Zack Snyder movie is Watchmen
Did Zack just say that the PG 13 of Rebel Moon is a "joke", damn he better deliver with the extended cuts.
I like Zack as a filmmaker, definitely among my favorite group of filmmakers working today. If you’re not a fan of his, it’s okay, I won’t think less of you, nor will I judge you. You do you. :)
No one judges anyone for not being a fan , but being a fan is wild out there
@@shaun7867Sadly, yes, being a fan of anything is wild. Speaking from experience, I’ve been a fan of Zack’s work for years and I’m always bombarded with insults for it. At this point, the insults don’t hurt me. And I try not to criticize others for liking stuff I don’t necessarily like because it’s better to let people be. That’s a bit of me I like to share, so people know where I stand.
@@KeiNakagawa7 i am an admin of a large snyder fan page , its still baffling what people say to fans who enjoy zacks films , everyday non stop hate , appreciate the way you handle it and nice to speak with another fan 💪🦸🏻♂️
Another great one Josh! always enjoy your interviews 🙌🏻 (not just because it’s Zack 🤣, but that’s a plus!) you always ask insightful questions & you’re very respectful as always 💃🏻 30:36 BvS UE is the ONLY version of that movie that exists for me!
Great Interview, Zack is the best !
Great interview, Josh!
Awesome. Thank you for changing my life Zack!
You know, after having survived cancer I really want to try and meet this man one day or even work for him. Im a spiring DP and Filmmaker and his films have been inspiring me for years!
Congrats. I'm happy people saying zack movies changed their lives. That's awesome. Hope more people realize how deep his movies are.
I love the Martha revelation moment in Batman v Superman. I personally found it really moving. That's just me, though.
People like to pretend they knew that both of their mothers names were Martha and mock that moment in the movie. But I guarantee you general audience members did not know. I am someone that has followed DC animated stuff since I was a child and that fact always went over my head. And it made a lot of sense to me that he would stop himself because Batman thought about his mother in that moment and about what she would say if she saw him the way he was in that moment.
@@Ghosthound_X Yes, exactly. I agree with you. It's such a good moment that people sadly mock about the film. I was a general audience member, and I didn't know that both of their mothers's names were Martha. I love the idea of how Batman fights crime. That, metaphorically, these were the people who took his parents lives, but that night, when he saved Superman's mother, he really was on a mission for redemption for the night that he couldn't save his parents, even though he was just a kid.
I recognize you!
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Aw, thank you! I recognize you too! Love your KZhead channels!
Except the fact that Superman should have said “Please save my MOM” … because the whole “Martha” thing is suppose remind Batman that Superman is still a human deep down. But if he had said “Save my MOM” it would have been so much more impactful in terms of showing Bruce that Clark is just a scared little kid… just like Bruce is. Plus, who the fuck would say “Save Martha” when talking about their mom. That’s right, no one.
Zack Snyder has made quite a few films that I have watched and enjoyed immensely. I can certainly respect him as a director and visionary. But I don't think that his style and the deconstructionist viewpoint on existing IPs and genre films always fits the big screen. I think if he took that deconstructionist attitude into the independent and small film scale, then his work wouldn't be so heavily criticized or polarizing. If you took that style and made more of an independent fan film deconstructing Batman, Superman, or science fiction, than it would be much better received by the fandom. There's nothing wrong with wanting to challenge the status quo, but when it comes to certain classic characters and stories there are some things that you just need to leave intact when it comes to a big screen adaptation. Sometimes you need a deconstructionist viewpoint to shake things up for sure but you have to do it on a small to medium scale to influence the overall picture with greater effect.
Awesome interview, Love the flow and dynamic of the interview. #ZackSnyder is THE GOAT .👍🏽🫶🏽
Great interview with a fantastic film maker I call Zack that as he gets so involved in the process
Simply just love listening to Zack as he always oozes passion for films and cinema. Love the whole “no compromise” section of the interview. How it should be…
Great interview, stellar questions. And this really confirms why we love Zack, it's not just the eternal kid at heart, but rebel is the right word. He's like fighting the studio system from within the studio system almost, it's pretty rare. Love or hate him, at least he has a fingerprint and he maintains that fingerprint no matter what.
No we need part 3 and maybe 4 5 6 to get the full experience 😜
I loved the movie, and Zack was super friendly he waved to me at the premiere for the 1st one. And I got a free Jimmy Speaker.
Zack is my sifu, i wish he is my film teacher back during im studying film but his films always an influence of mine..i salute this man work
Amagazing interview
The Master cant wait to see the unrated versions sir 👏
Another banger interview, by the great Josh Horowitz. I feel like that Elektra movie could POSSIBLY happen one day. Where Marvel just says here Zack, do what you do.
Zack is amazing
this was a great interview and a zack snyder podcast would be amazing
If he were to do “Dark Knight Returns” as a movie and it be comic accurate…my vote for Carrie Kelley to be portrayed on screen would be by Julia Butters or McKenna Grace
It is sad that we'll never get the other two JL movies we were meant to by Snyder! Controversial or not, his DC movies were always interesting and always had some badass scenes! Nothing will ever top that Batman warehouse fight man, that was awesome!
I was just wondering yesterday about Zack Snyder episode.....I woke up the next day and here it is
Thank you zaddy
This guy told Jason Momoa to his face that the Snyder Cut never existed. But now he's all smiles and agreement because he got this gig. Lol.
what? There was like only one story with momoa and snyder cut and he confirmed that he saw raw version of SnyderCut basically confirming it's was real
Great interview. Zack is so chill and cool, can listen to him talking about movies for days
We should make a live action movie based on under the red hood that gives a definitive answer to batman killing. Where instead of completely justifying himself, he admits that it would have been better if he kill his enemies in combat, but he was saving them out of fear that if any of them ended up dead, the public would turn against him. He's a vigilante, that hides his identity. It's easy to paint his as a villain, to give a real world example, kyle rittenhouse, almost went to jail for life when several people ended up dead. When he went to a riot with a gun and shot people to defend himself. In situations where cops have to kill people, a lot of the time the public lashes out at them. I guess you can kill if it's you or them, but it causes problems for you. You have to justify it. It'd better if you can avoid killing people you're aiming to stop. I think it was the plot of the spiderman movies that mysterio ended up dead and that's what happened the public turned on him.
While i enjoyed both rebel moon films. I can see why people have mixed feelings about it. Some choices werent the best but overall enjoyable
Thanks Zack ❤
The transition from The Michael Bay Transformer movies to the recent "Transformers One" trailer that was just release highlights the pattern that I see when Studios move away from Directors like Snyder to the Studio mandated movies. This happens again and again and again in different franchises. To be honest, a lot of online discourse was very negative about Michael Bay and Snyder and only in hindsight do we see there merits. Another thing about Bay and Snyder is that they really aren't "woke" either which is a criticism you hear about a lot of modern movies along with them just being completely devoid of creative inspiration. I am not saying there isn't a third option, but I will take a Bayformers or a Snyder film over a studio mandated movie any day of the week. Hollywood is always ok losing money as long as it isn't the director's fault. There is always risk involved with filmmaking. I would love it the studios started putting trust back in the director because at the end of the day at least we will have a movie that is sincere and has a real artistic vision even if it isn't popular.
300 made the most impact for me. I thought his Justice League was his magnum opus. Even if his other films aren’t as strong in story, his visuals are just amazing to look at and admire
I like Zack but we all need to try and tell him when he's making mistakes in movies or going to far ignoring the people who he makes the movies for just because he wants to do a idea that's different. Both Rebel Moons have flunked and the last one will to no matter what because there is no story and no characters we care about other than the single robot whos not even supposed to be one of the main 3 characters. I usually take up for what he does although this trilogy was missing to much and it made it boring and forgettable yet in his mind he thought that was part of the charm. That's not good.
thanks Josh. please do an Invincible talk with Robert Kirkman.
ONE OF MY TOP 3 FAV DIRECTORS OF ALL TIMES !!!! Christopher Nolan, Dune Director, Zack Snyder !!!!
Zack is the best director ever!!!
Great stuff Josh
I can't wait to watch Rebel Moon Part Two, my movie review will be tomorrow!
Biggest is reason Zack is a great view point director is because he gives each and every character a route ; how they grow up and give equality to every character than making some characters main and others like side characters 😊🍷
Been waiting 2.3 years for Rebel Moon, but i refuse t see anything else than the Directors Cuts
Civil War shyed away from actually addressing what the conflict was all about lol
To my knowledge, Snyder never tried to kill his screenwriter. Soooooo, not to shabby.
Much love ❤and Respect towards ZACK SNYDER Deborah Snyder
The PG-13 versions of RM are 2 hour films that feel like 4 hours.
I always thought the BvS “Martha” complaint was complete nonsense. i completely agree with Zack’s reasoning here.
Maybe if it weren’t the two single most iconic historical heroes who were defined by their their parents… everyone is a product of their environment and genetics. Same goes for superheroes. However, these two are the very definition of Freudian issues with their parents. Opposite ends of the same coin..humanity used for good at its best and worst extremes in so many differing and complimentary abilities… maybe it could have worked if Supes had said more than, “Bruce”. Weapon explosion, and “Bruce we need to talk” rinse and repeat several times… if he’d said something in any of their meetings that bats had seen earlier but made this scene where we, the audience, see some references, and then it hits! “Martha”… even the ultimate edition doesn’t fix this…
NETFLIX should have released extended cuts on streaming and limited cinema release of PG 13 versions...
Zack cant tell stories, but he seems like a great guy
I love Zack's films. Great Interview Josh 🤙🏽
He wanted Happy Meals instead of constructive criticism.
Amazon (now owning MGM and Bond franchise) should hire him for a Bond mini-series, but retro one. Or real life (human) Pink Panther.
He kind of reminds me of inlight Shyamalan... he kind of started out fantastic and now he's a straight to DVD kind of director
I don't care what some people say.. I love Snyder and his films! ❤
Big homie
I’m looking forward to seeing Rebel Moon part 2 and the Director’s cut. It’s a great time to be a Sci-Fi fan!
Rebel Room both was pedantic, but his 3 DC films are dope, esp Man of Steel and JL. I personally love his style, but he needs a writer. I hope he does more DC films
Great movies!
I'm all excited and hyped for REBEL MOON 1,2 3
I see The Blue Print, I watch
Amazing interview as always Josh! Love that you always keep it honest and legit real no bs. Your vibes talking with Zack are engaging and enlightening! Keep up the awesome work and PLEASE have a super long form convo again (Snyder cut of interviews lol) after the directors cuts come out 🙌🏽
the man, the myth, the legend Snyder
Your the KING 🤴 ZACK SNYDER
Watch 7:30. That’s how Zack sees filmmaking. He turns it up to 11 in order to satirize the genre without making it a spoof or a parody. His movies are very self-aware. And (gasp!) his sense of humor comes out in those R-rated elements. This is why 300, Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead are arguably some of his best films, because his sensibilities are allowed to spill over the edges and it makes it more FUN. Read the article: “Zack Snyder’s Big, Dumb Action Career is Smarter Than It Seems.” The latest article pretty much nails it
I 💓 Zack Snyder #RebelMoon
TOM CRUISE would've been Amazing in WATCHMEN 👏
zack did an amazing job , if you not like his job , it doesn't mean that every one not like it
14:03 WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME
I thought the Martha thing was a revelations how had no one done anything with that before.
It's a shame that we have to suffer through the theatrical cuts to get the "real" movie. Just serve up the directors vision straight up. I wish Zach would have rejected Netflix's idea for a PG-13 movie. A big waste of time an energy that taints the product.
Thank you for being so respectful. Loved every minute of this
#Zacktivated
Id love to see Zack do something R rated in the MCU.... Maybe a Moonknight movie or something would be epic!! Hes basically marvels Batman and he kills lol
There are directors who spend years looking for financing for their films. Francis Ford Coppola had to put money out of his own pocket for the ENTIRE production of Megalópolis. And even when they have the budgets, they have to face the studios and their creative cuts (As must have happened to Snyder himself). This guy was given carte blanche to do whatever he wants and instead he wasted it all on two movies. Shit, they are incomplete and on top of that he has the nerve to think that he is a revolutionary who goes against studies. You know, for selling his fans empty movies with the promise of an extended edition (Wow, as if the whole #ReleaseTheSnyderCut had no purpose) And there you have Villeneuve saying that what we saw in Dune P2 is material chosen in a way careful and that she is not going to release the deleted scenes because they simply do not work. They do not work. And Snyder does the opposite. He sells you the worst and promises you the best in a cut that God knows when he will arrive. Rebel Moon is the work of a guy who for almost 10 years was told that he was a misunderstood genius but not even they know why. Anyway, don't see P2. Better watch Dune Part 2.
We the Snyder Fans believe in you ZACK SNYDER Deborah Snyder 1,000 percent with heart ❤️ and Soul
