I can't really choose. They are my top 3 films, their trilogy is also my personal best trilogy of all time.

  • Great interview, but I just gotta take a minute to put some respect on Josh Horowitz. From the beginning, this dude was always in support of the snyder cut, always asking the right questions. Appreciate him never selling out in regard to snyder and his DCEU like so many of his colleagues did in the last 8 years. That's integrity.

  • 300, MoS, BvS and Watchmen are truly phenomenal classics. There's simply no director who can make a comic book movie better than Zack. What will forever be the saddest thing is that we never had a real DCEU with him as the main producer like Feige, we basically got 2 movies that had dark history behind the scenes and then wb killed dceu by listening to crybabies. Just the idea that people didn't want something deeper and more serious than the dick/ass jokes aka mcu. And now they have given complete freedom to a pedophile who specializes in dick/ass jokes. Just to think, if everything went right, we would already had Justice League trilogy and even a Flashpoint reboot, not to mention Affleck's solo film, Green Corps, New Gods etc. Great director , one of the best, underrated as fuck.

    • I enjoy Snyders movies. But to say he’s the greatest ever is tough. Nolan was def better and I’d argue the Russos are better. Snyder captured the action though better then any comic book movie I’ve seen.

      @patrickbret1056@patrickbret105612 күн бұрын
    • @@patrickbret1056 NOLAN Imfao, aka the dude who turned Batman into a skinny useless dude in a plastic suit with throat cancer who fights dogs and had his back broken by a random 5'2 dude in a mask, his trilogy also had one of the worst action scenes i've ever seen, oh and he also turned the Joker into an anarchist with a plan, that is opposite of what the Joker is. Nolan got no idea how to make CBM movies, he made a pseudo-realistic detective story about a guy who calls himself Batman but has nothing to do with Batman. The whole trilogy is extremely overrated, not as overrated as TDK alone ofc, but at least this one was ok, the 1st and 3rd movies are laughably bad, only someone who has never read any comics can say it was ok, let alone better than Snyder. Russos? bruh that shit gotta be some kind of trolling or bait i dunno. Goofy ahh civil war aka BvS for 12 year olds, mediocre 2nd cap, avengers iw was actually good and endgame-fan service trash , how can someone compare any of this to 300, watchmen or snyderverse trilogy is beyond me, it's not even close.

Yes it was absolutely epic by Heath but it's not Joker from CB. Is Joaquin Phoenix's Joker awesome? No it's nowhere near Heath's and also Phoenix's version is not even 1% close to CBM where Heath's was let's say 15 maybe 20% close to CB

    • People like to pretend they knew that both of their mothers names were Martha and mock that moment in the movie. But I guarantee you general audience members did not know. I am someone that has followed DC animated stuff since I was a child and that fact always went over my head. And it made a lot of sense to me that he would stop himself because Batman thought about his mother in that moment and about what she would say if she saw him the way he was in that moment.

      @Ghosthound_X@Ghosthound_X16 күн бұрын
    • @@Ghosthound_X Yes, exactly. I agree with you. It's such a good moment that people sadly mock about the film. I was a general audience member, and I didn't know that both of their mothers's names were Martha. I love the idea of how Batman fights crime. That, metaphorically, these were the people who took his parents lives, but that night, when he saved Superman's mother, he really was on a mission for redemption for the night that he couldn't save his parents, even though he was just a kid.

But if he had said “Save my MOM” it would have been so much more impactful in terms of showing Bruce that Clark is just a scared little kid… just like Bruce is. Plus, who the fuck would say “Save Martha” when talking about their mom. That’s right, no one.

  • Zack Snyder has made quite a few films that I have watched and enjoyed immensely. I can certainly respect him as a director and visionary. But I don't think that his style and the deconstructionist viewpoint on existing IPs and genre films always fits the big screen. I think if he took that deconstructionist attitude into the independent and small film scale, then his work wouldn't be so heavily criticized or polarizing. If you took that style and made more of an independent fan film deconstructing Batman, Superman, or science fiction, than it would be much better received by the fandom. There's nothing wrong with wanting to challenge the status quo, but when it comes to certain classic characters and stories there are some things that you just need to leave intact when it comes to a big screen adaptation. Sometimes you need a deconstructionist viewpoint to shake things up for sure but you have to do it on a small to medium scale to influence the overall picture with greater effect.

  • We should make a live action movie based on under the red hood that gives a definitive answer to batman killing. Where instead of completely justifying himself, he admits that it would have been better if he kill his enemies in combat, but he was saving them out of fear that if any of them ended up dead, the public would turn against him. He's a vigilante, that hides his identity. It's easy to paint his as a villain, to give a real world example, kyle rittenhouse, almost went to jail for life when several people ended up dead. When he went to a riot with a gun and shot people to defend himself. In situations where cops have to kill people, a lot of the time the public lashes out at them. I guess you can kill if it's you or them, but it causes problems for you. You have to justify it. It'd better if you can avoid killing people you're aiming to stop. I think it was the plot of the spiderman movies that mysterio ended up dead and that's what happened the public turned on him.

  • The transition from The Michael Bay Transformer movies to the recent "Transformers One" trailer that was just release highlights the pattern that I see when Studios move away from Directors like Snyder to the Studio mandated movies. This happens again and again and again in different franchises. To be honest, a lot of online discourse was very negative about Michael Bay and Snyder and only in hindsight do we see there merits. Another thing about Bay and Snyder is that they really aren't "woke" either which is a criticism you hear about a lot of modern movies along with them just being completely devoid of creative inspiration. I am not saying there isn't a third option, but I will take a Bayformers or a Snyder film over a studio mandated movie any day of the week. Hollywood is always ok losing money as long as it isn't the director's fault. There is always risk involved with filmmaking. I would love it the studios started putting trust back in the director because at the end of the day at least we will have a movie that is sincere and has a real artistic vision even if it isn't popular.

Both Rebel Moons have flunked and the last one will to no matter what because there is no story and no characters we care about other than the single robot whos not even supposed to be one of the main 3 characters. I usually take up for what he does although this trilogy was missing to much and it made it boring and forgettable yet in his mind he thought that was part of the charm. That's not good.

However, these two are the very definition of Freudian issues with their parents. Opposite ends of the same coin..humanity used for good at its best and worst extremes in so many differing and complimentary abilities… maybe it could have worked if Supes had said more than, “Bruce”. Weapon explosion, and “Bruce we need to talk” rinse and repeat several times… if he’d said something in any of their meetings that bats had seen earlier but made this scene where we, the audience, see some references, and then it hits! “Martha”… even the ultimate edition doesn’t fix this…

  • Amazon (now owning MGM and Bond franchise) should hire him for a Bond mini-series, but retro one. Or real life (human) Pink Panther.

  • Rebel Room both was pedantic, but his 3 DC films are dope, esp Man of Steel and JL. I personally love his style, but he needs a writer. I hope he does more DC films

  • Watch 7:30. That’s how Zack sees filmmaking. He turns it up to 11 in order to satirize the genre without making it a spoof or a parody. His movies are very self-aware. And (gasp!) his sense of humor comes out in those R-rated elements. This is why 300, Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead are arguably some of his best films, because his sensibilities are allowed to spill over the edges and it makes it more FUN. Read the article: “Zack Snyder’s Big, Dumb Action Career is Smarter Than It Seems.” The latest article pretty much nails it

  • It's a shame that we have to suffer through the theatrical cuts to get the "real" movie. Just serve up the directors vision straight up. I wish Zach would have rejected Netflix's idea for a PG-13 movie. A big waste of time an energy that taints the product.

  • There are directors who spend years looking for financing for their films. Francis Ford Coppola had to put money out of his own pocket for the ENTIRE production of Megalópolis. And even when they have the budgets, they have to face the studios and their creative cuts (As must have happened to Snyder himself). This guy was given carte blanche to do whatever he wants and instead he wasted it all on two movies. Shit, they are incomplete and on top of that he has the nerve to think that he is a revolutionary who goes against studies. You know, for selling his fans empty movies with the promise of an extended edition (Wow, as if the whole #ReleaseTheSnyderCut had no purpose) And there you have Villeneuve saying that what we saw in Dune P2 is material chosen in a way careful and that she is not going to release the deleted scenes because they simply do not work. They do not work. And Snyder does the opposite. He sells you the worst and promises you the best in a cut that God knows when he will arrive. Rebel Moon is the work of a guy who for almost 10 years was told that he was a misunderstood genius but not even they know why. Anyway, don't see P2. Better watch Dune Part 2.
