The Last Authentic Travel Experience on Earth? (Bhutan: Meditating with Monks & Indigenous Villages)

Sitting on the western side of the Himalayas, Bhutan is a Buddhist Kingdom that famously prioritises the happiness of its citizens over national wealth. It is also famous for prioritising its citizens' happiness over national wealth (GDP). We were lucky enough to be invited to explore this unique country steeped in history and culture, where a traditional way of life reigns supreme and we were given access to film places cameras have never been before. Join us as we explore a remote indigenous mountain village, meditate with monks, and are welcomed into the homes of locals.
We really hope you enjoy watching - if you do, please give it a thumbs up & subscribe, it means KZhead is more likely to suggest our films to others and help our channel grow.
A big thanks to our guide Pelden, who has 30 years of experience guiding tours in Bhutan. This means that Pelden knows practically everyone in Bhutan and can tailor your dream, authentic Bhutan experience! Contact Pelden here: Peldendorji97@gmail.com

The country is absolutely lovely, but the amount of appreciation, and respect both of you displayed is such an example to be followed by most content creators out there. I love how you both carry yourselves with such gratitude and positivity throughout your storytelling . Thank you for this video. Sending love from Brazil.

  • I decided to go for this place for my honeymoon instead of the ever so crowded locations like Thailand, Bali, etc...The best 5 days of my life were spent in Bhutan. Even when I look at the photos, I am automatically at peace. The trek to the tiger's nest is quite difficult but oh so worth it! Me and my wife along with the group that we were travelling with had tears streaming down. Everything was absolutely perfect.

    • How is it authentic if it was curated by the tourist board of Bhutan? You've seen a touristy experience of Bhutan. Covering that it is known as a happy country that values the well-being of its citizens. Not sure if you are just unaware or whether you are promoting Bhutan as Bhutan tourism office have provided you a free visit and access to special areas. In any case it would be remiss of you to say Bhutan takes care of its citizens without talking about Bhutan's ethnic cleansing and violence against the Lhotshampa people (ethnic Nepalis living in Bhutan) which was carried out only 30 years ago. From my own research the Bhutan govt has never even tried to make amends to the 100,000+ refugees they created.

  • My sister , I and a Friend road tripped Bhutan from India alone as youngsters.. trekking and hiking places in single digit temperatures , tiger nest specially .. It’s an experience that will never leave my soul . If it’s in destiny we shall be back there again , via road . That’s how Bhutan needs to be experienced .. to this day I feel flying into Bhutan is something that Indians do wrong ! Your video just triggered massive memories ! Bhutan is love that will never leave you

  • This was so far and above a regular travel vlog - your filmmaking skills are sublime, this felt like a documentary you could be watching on BBC, not just KZhead. Always been intrigued by Bhutan so thank you for showing us this beautiful place and showcasing it with such warmth and engaging footage. The "profile" shots (if that's what you call them!) of the local people were so captivating ❤

  • I have to admit that the most important reason for me to watch your videos is Tania - she has such a pure beautiful energy that you see through her eyes and smile. I had goosebumps when she said happy/sad... And of course, Adam's beautiful energy and wonderful shots accompanied by great music make this channel that beautiful and natural. As someone who has been to many countries before, I was particularly interested in Bhutan as I had not thought of going there until now. They seem to have a really interesting and isolated culture - but I had a tachycardia while you were climbing those roads by car :) And with the risk of altitude sickness, I'll have to think about it... Thank you for the effort, love you guys!

  • My wife and I went to Bhutan about a decade ago for our honeymoon. Still one of my favorite memories. Funny to see the roads are still super rough, No 4x4 for us back then, it was all in a minibus, haha. It's a beautiful country with amazing people, I sincerely love Bhutan. Your tour looks like it was a very special experience and really felt your gratitude through the video. And that temple you were able to film in, simply stunning! I think your summary of the Tigers nest is correct. The interior is beautiful but you can see the same if not better, in other temples. I think what makes the place unique is that they were able to build the temple in such a remote location location, the view, the hike up there and the interior. All those things together make it worth the visit.

I can't say fromvexperience but I doubt that thebPotala in Lhasa Tibet has such ambience. Well done! I hope that Bhutan wasn't tainted with the COVID Jab and its after-effects. I hope this country will never be brutalized with Western Industry and Culture. Lets keep it pure and untouched. I'm surprised tha China didn't invade Bhutan and Sikim at the same time they invaded Tibet and destroyed 80% of its Monasteries and Monks!

    • Hey Kelly! Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the film 😌 it was a really fascinating place! Definitely worth a visit, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the visa prices, I think they’re offering an incentive or something at the moment. We could only afford it because we collaborated with the tourist board! 🇧🇹 ☀️ Adam

Loved it, and further enforces why we have to make it there ourselves (Nigel and Sue) "Happy/sad". I get it Tania. You had me with dust in my eyes. On more than one occasion I might add! The people make it don't they? All the best you two and looking forward to tuning into the Nepal leg of your travels. Just love that country. Best regards, Nigel
