Don't know why the announcers were so surprised at Guida. Herb Dean has refereed many of his fights. It was obvious they wanted Thomson to win. I've been watching Guida forever and he has always been wide open every round. Congrats Clay! You deserve this title!
I have no idea how the judges thought that was close. Takedowns, strikes, and octagon control belonged to Guida the entire fight.
49-46 and 49-45 is 4 rounds to 1 or 4 rounds to 1 with a 10-8 round. Not close scoring.

Commentators obviously pulling for Josh throughout the entire fight. Calling the rubber guard a submission attempt AND saying submission attempts should be scored. Hate this. The beginning of the end of MMA

Maybe the worst commentators ever. One example among many. At the end of the 2nd round, they re-watch the illegal kick from Josh's: they need two takes on slow-motion to say it was illegal! Another example. At the end of the 4th round, the most pathetic of the 3 amigos says "This fight could be 2-2". Sure, he adds "I don't see it that way" but it's wayyyy too late man: you needed 4 rounds to come to that? But these commentators "wannabees" have a purpose, as they give us a life lesson: it's possible to inflict pain to someone just with words without even one insult!!!
I don't think I've ever seen a more biased set of announcers. Guida absolutely destroyed Thomson. Won every round easily. And the whole fight, the announcers kept talking about Thomson and how great he was. Were they blind? Guida was amazing. Thomson spent 5 rounds on his back getting beat on. And the announcers had nothing to say about Guida--other than they kept expecting him to get tired.
They were saying "clay is breaking, hes getting desperate" what a joke! Clay is a badass! those announcers are the joke wishing for a draw....... they went home and cried themselves to sleep after josh was demolished! What an great example of how not to be as an announcer.

Clays fighting technique has never changed. He rushes in and takes a barrage of hits to his face and then does relentless ground and pound to his opponent. His face has become a punching nag over the years but proves time and time again he has the stamina and chin to keep going lol. Herb dean once again proved how incompetent he is as his stoppages we're garbage.

The Strikeforce announcers were always gobbling on J. Thompson's sack whenever he was in the octagon. They talk about him like he's the 2nd coming of Jesus and act like he was the baddest man at any weight. I listen to his podcast sometimes and i followed his fighting career only because i was a fan of mma, he's alright but he's historically never been great at anything despite having endless resources.
No answer Thomson. Clay has fought for a decade by now or longer. Those announcers know nothing about Clay. Clay owned Thomson. Congrats Clay.😃
That 'dirty' 'eye gouge' was the edge of the glove. Look closely at the replay. Clay's hand was closed. The edge of the glove might've went across his eye. But it wasn't a finger. And it wasn't intentional. That's bullsh!t the ref and announcers saying otherwise

I've seen them both fight before but not this one. All through the beginning, all the announcers are only praising Thompson. Meanwhile, Clay is doing good on top, yeah he got into some stuff, but got out quick. 3:50 all they're doing is still downplaying Clay, and Boom!, cut on Thompson. I should just finish watching this fight with the sound off. Be better than listening to these meathead announcers.
