As someone obsessed with the stalkerbolter- sorry i mean eruptor. Yes it is a nerf, things i used to kill in one to two shots now require three to four, crowd clear is indeed completely null, i can shoot a tight bundle of scavengers or troopers and only the one hit is damaged and the rest are alerted to where im at immediately. Just tested it, tried to play normally with it, i cannot its utility has been butchered? Edit: further testing this seems to be an issue on PC, as with a full party two on Ps5 and 2 on PC. My PSN friends and us copied shots as we could with notable differences. The eruptor did more damage when used by someone on console. Headshots and crowd fire doing different results.
Oh boy, they gave the eruptor the railgun treatment of breaking it's legs with the nerf hammer, we can't have nice things can we🖤💛

I was an avid eruptor user and the only change I ever wanted was the forward pull on explosive damage.

Along with the jetpack it has become my standard bug nest erasing weapon. It decimates groups of small and medium bugs like nothing and with the jetpack you can escape when you are surrounded. Great combo overall. Add whatever stratagems you feel like will round the pack and you're good to go.
I roll the supply pack, but gunna give the jump pack a try when I get home
@jerryhigmenson9974 If you use jump + grenade launcher, then you gotta be the one to loot the points of interest.
@@MoonNooodles In Managed Democracy every soldier takes samples for Super Earth. Otherwise they are totally not sent to freedom camps at all. And by the way, take samples even if you don't need them. Your Helldiver comrades will thank you.

I have noticed a pretty sizable drop in damage output! Spitters are tanking way more shots. Chargers seem to take double the shots to take down the week points.
yes its ridiculous, had shot a charger 4x with a quesar cannon, used to be a 1 hit, Ive done 2 hits for biles but been a few times I didnt get a clean shot on face and took about 6 shots which is ridiculous.

@@daytrace4635 on the patch this morning? that just sounds more like bad aim than the devs nerving one of their 3 AV weapons (spear doesn't count until it WORKS) by a factor of 4. Every independent part of the big enemies have their own HP pool, any one of them dropping to zero will kill the foe.
Sounds like the shrapnel may have been spawning within the hitbox of the bug directly hit, and doing a combined chunk of damage before heading into its' spread pattern.
@@IRMentat could be lag as I have spectrum and it is always stuttering when it rains for me. Either way they deff got a buff or the qcannon got nerfed (havent played in about 2 weeks till last night) bc my friends all had same problems with it last night.

Arrowhead already confirmed that the Eruptor isn't working as intended on at least 2 to 3 points, and somehow slipped through the test they did.

absolutely yes, it was only beaten for me by the "meds don't make the sound when you get interrupted" change/fix. the number of times i thought ni was save but nothing happened was insane. Those bots do love to chain-ragdoll helldivers.
I used the eruptor pre and post parch. Prepatch on a hive commander it would take 1 to 2 shots to kill it, post nerf 4 to 5 shots.

There is no "out of the way", they changed shrapnel so it sometimes auto-targets you. Also nobody asked for this nerf.

I'm confused, they buffed the erupter? 40 to the explosion sounds like a buff? They removed the shrapnel which wasn't very good anyway, and to stop killing friendlies. I'm not with against it yet, I'm still going to feel it out first. But isn't it just a general buff?
To the way I play the eruptor it feels like a nerf hitting the middle target of a group a couple times then depending on your targets maybe one or two more shots into the group and they’re dead(minus big bois) I also hope that it doesn’t affect its ability to clear nests and fabricators being able to clear those from substantial range with a well placed eruptor shot can’t be underestimated
They so called buffed it after nerfing it. After playing with it today my findings are it's gotten even weaker by a slight amount. The shrapnel ricochet spam deaths has been fixed at least. But the increased 40 to damage is not noticeable whatsoever.
@@everfreesnarrations35 Nah its nerfed big time. I know they said they buffed the explosive but its taking way more shots to kill certain mobs. Nerfed against hive guards, Nursing spewers, brood commander, charger, meat saws, strider, devastators, tanks and general crowd control. Its easy to say 40 more explosive dmg, but it means nothing if the majority of mobs are taking 2 to 3 more bullets and more to kill than it used to.
It can’t kill striders from the front anymore. Bring the shrapnel back!
For me the Eruptor was the first primary weapon that actually felt like a primary weapon; you know... a weapon you PRIMARILY use? It also made the support weapons feel as exactly that, a weapon supporting your loadout and not primarily defining it. With the Eruptor now "nerfed to hell" as well, what was the point of buying the democratic detonation warbond when the weapons are the main focus in it for me? Even more reason to withhold buying the next warbond, with AHs way of "fixing" things.
Good points! This philosophy they have that 'Primary' weapons are 'just some thing you spawn with' has to get tossed out. In the move to 3rd person / 1st person we are FAR more invested in the guns we hold and fire then in the Top down 'god view' of HD1. If a gun feels and acts mediocre, it's a lot more noticeable and depressing. They have to stop being afraid of guns 'kicking ass' and feeling good and powerful in different ways.

I was worried about the Eruptor as soon as I heard last week that they were going to get rid of the shrapnel. Sad days. I finally had found my favorite Bot breaker comp. 💛🖤
Shame about the eruptor. The aoe of shrapnel was great for groups around heavier enemies. 🖤💛
As someone who was in the apparently minority of players getting shrapnel ritochet one shot, I'm amazed a 40%buff to damage doesn't cover the "neglible" effective of shrapnel. All they really had to do was revert the ritochet changes from the last patch.
it wasn't a 40 PERCENT buff, it was just 40 damage. Helldivers wiki gg is saying 230 direct damage, 150 AoE/explosive so that +40 AoE is a 10% total damage boost or 25% extra Aoe-only but at what cost? how much damage did the shrapnel do? no one's said. Likewise when the AoE was nerfed we don't know the before and after in terms of effective-damage%-at-max-AoE-range before and after the fall-off nerf so if it's only doing 50% damage at the outer edge (real number is likely less) that +40 could be as little as 20 extra damage (1/3 of a liberator hit).
Hopefully we get some colors other than 💛🖤 for our next warbond, love the videos man!
I used it and It used to shred with the aoe, now it's just a explosive sniper and you better have your uni ready as the enemy is in your face before you know it
I used the erupter this morning and I didn't really notice a difference. Still kills groups close together.

I died 3 times to the shrapnel in one match using the eruptor. I will have to try it later to see if its still good. 💛🖤
I have not used the eruptor since the update however, I can confirm that me and my squad of Helldivers that I normally dive with we’re in the minority of players who very frequently randomly died from the eruptor effectively misfiring and there was a time 3 divers were taken out by the shrapnel of one eruptor misfiring
I’ve not used it yet, but I will tonight when I get on that being said like you, I died multiple times to the shrapnel one shotting me. It does seem to be pretty at random like 95% of the time shooting a hive guard would be fine however randomly insta-death. I don’t really want them to have gutted the weapon, I’m hopeful that the increase to explosion damage will help. Though I mostly use the Eruptor as an elite (brood commander etc) killer rather than an AoE clear. It would be nice if it could still be viable as an AoE tool though.

Been running Eruptor since it dropped but had to change my loadout today, i don't feel Spitz tested it out before saying it would be a buff its definitely a nerf. what usually took 1 shot to kill is now taking 3-4 on direct hits. needs the shrapnel added back at the very least
I haven't used the eruptor since the whol PSN link bs when it got nerfed, but tbf it never really felt to me like the shrapnel did anything? I only ever saw the shrapnel sfly off an never once saw it impact into anything to warrant extra damage.

Legit question: should any primary be as powerful or better than a support weapon? The eruptor gets compared to the autocannon most regularly. Should the eruptor be able to 2 shot chargers? One shot spewers? If it is, why would you run anything else as your primary?

Nope. Primaries, imho, should stick to being able to take out light armour 'trash' mobs as standard with Med targets being taken out via weak spots, if its got the ability to do Med or even Heavy penetration then it needs some drawbacks. If something like the Eruptor does as good as you described, then it stands to reason it should have low RPM and/or mag size/amount etc, then you can kind of take it as a 'support' weapon and take something like the Stalwart for example as the 'primary' - Primaries should be capable of doing everything, hell even the player isnt supposed to be a one man army but filling each others weaknesses as a team, u know? but thats jst not how it goes realy.

The Eruptor just got a MASSIVE nerf. The AOE has been nearly completely removed and only slightly increased its damage. It effectively cant aoe damage or stagger enemies anymore so it just lost even more utility that it had to control and kill groups of enemies. Its now just a shittier autocannon without any upsides. I got killed by my own Eruptor shrapnel twice that I can remember, but its pretty rare that it happened. But the AOE damage nerf makes the weapon nearly unplayable now. It doesnt do enough of anything fast enough or with enough ammo now to warrant its usefulness that other weapons dont just do outright better.

I must be in the minority of the community that had a massive problem with bounce back/shrapnel from the Eruptor. I had never died to the Eruptor prior to the last patch, and ran it exclusively against both bots and bugs. After the patch, I would die multiple times, to include oneshots that took off my head, multiple time per dive. I would say my death count was 6+ per dive on any difficulty. Went back to the JAR-5, and had gone back to 1-2 deaths per run on suicide mission. I will have to play with the Eruptor after work, but I am glad they did something. Getting oneshot from shooting something from 20+ yards is a bad thing. (Had this happen against a Brood Commander, several times)

My predictions for next weeks "balance" fixes. Auto cannon ammo capacity cut in half,added rocoil, but overall damage to auto cannon "buffed" by five points. Incendiary breaker mag sized lowered from twenty-five to fourteen with carrying capacity lowered from six to three, but pellet spread lowered by five percent. Also, chargers have higher armor resistance and increased visibility, so they can spot you from further away. Also, enemie patrols have been increased by twent five percent. Sound about, right?

I don’t see why there had to be a massive change to the weapon at all. I love the Eruptor as it was before any of the nerfs. Took a little get use to in the beginning sure but it was awesome after you get a hang of it. Now it takes ages to kill a spewer, charger. “Look how they messed up my boy” 😢
I’m fine with the patch for the most part, but I’ll happily take another buff to the Eruptor 🖤💛

The smallest little move is something I have to disagree with. In game buffs/nerfs and the like will upset some and not others and will overall be fine. Its out of game nonsense that will not be tolerated and is under a microscope. I have never liked the eruptor, though I do understand why some do. The change doesn't bother me at all, when guns i like get changed/nerfed i find a new trigger buddy.

ah well. the eruptor. my goto weapon. in several missions today i managed one time to kill 3 bugs at once. just once. also it seems to do less damage now. before i had it on a few occasions where the shrapnel killed a teammate. who cares, its a learning curve and forces you to be careful. whatever. now its just a really really slow bolt action that can open containers and close bugholes/fabricators.

So basically the made the eruptor a crappier autocannon, nice one. With the name eruptor, youd think that it always explodes on impact and never ricochets off anything or at least it shouldn't.
Actually it went from Overwhelmingly Negative, something like 12-18% to mixed 60%.
When do we get the new cape?
Sadly the attitude on HD2 socials has largely become "we don't have to link accounts so screw the 177 countries". I'm seeing active dislike spam on anyone raising awareness about refunded players in blacklisted countries who can no longer play. I guess we DO leave a man behind.
