HOW TO MAKE A CATCH POLE!!!

This is how I make the catch pole that I use on every animal that I trap. However, this is by far not the best catch pole there is. Store bought catch poles are much better. This is part of my system that works for me, it may not work for you. Hope you guys enjoy!!

  • In another video of yours, I heard you wondering how you can balance the catch box. You might be able to mount a small "L" shaped bracket on the bottom side so you can stand on it. Maybe that will help sturdy the box when you're putting them in there. I'm getting into this trapping stuff. There are coyote everywhere here in North East Tennessee.

  • Love your videos. I'd like to see how you make the boxes from milk crates. I can see where that would be useful.

  • Don't know if you'll see this, but a piece of small plywood ( 12"x 12") or so, with a triangle shaped piece on each side would help with the balance.... screw it or zip tie it to bottom side where the lid flips to, I have just found your channel and have been binge watching. It is something that I was trying to figure out for you since the first time I saw you fighting with it. Keep the videos coming, I enjoy them a lot.

  • Look at the hardware store. They have a close line tensioner you can put in the pole and will hold the cable. And they are cheap

  • It's not a catch pole! It's a release pole! It's too short and as you warned, lacks a locking mechanism. Using one properly takes a little common sense, lacking in most I see on KZhead!! Why don't you show us how to use the one you built?? Now that I've commented on the build I would love to critique your use of it???

    @jackriley5974@jackriley59743 жыл бұрын
    • Locking mechanism doesn’t work with my boxes because the cable has to go all the way through the pipe so that I can get it off of the animal. My common sense of not allowing the animal to get out is not letting any slack on the cable while handling the animal. The video of how I made the catch pole is the EXACT way I made this one. So other than being just a little bit longer, they’re EXACTLY the same. It works for me. If it doesn’t work for you or you don’t like the idea of how it works, go buy a catch pole with a locking mechanism on it.

    • @@CarolinaCoyote I trapped the Adirondacks for 30 years and although I didn't release many animals I never used a "catch pole" !!
