I was there with Louie Weathers, sitting in his new GTO on the freeway to watch this Monster Jet take it's first flight. I had just got out of the Army a month before and Louie helped me get a temporary Long Shoreman job on pier 47, we were having a ball for three months. We were listening to the radio driving around and heard the live report and got to the view area from the road looking down on the runway. I looked like it was flying about 80 MPH because it was so Big, and so Loud!

The Boeing 747 is a large, long-range wide-body airliner designed and manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in the United States between 1968 and 2023. After introducing the 707 in October 1958, Pan Am wanted a jet 2+1⁄2 times its size, to reduce its seat cost by 30%. In 1965, Joe Sutter left the 737 development program to design the 747. In April 1966, Pan Am ordered 25 Boeing 747-100 aircraft, and in late 1966, Pratt & Whitney agreed to develop the JT9D engine, a high-bypass turbofan. On September 30, 1968, the first 747 was rolled out of the custom-built Everett Plant, the world's largest building by volume. The 747's first flight took place on February 9, 1969, and the 747 was certified in December of that year. It entered service with Pan Am on January 22, 1970. The 747 was the first airplane called a "Jumbo Jet" as the first wide-body airliner.

The 747-100 is the god of planes
747 beats the A380 hands down even though they aren't competing.
There is no comparison between them in terms of being successful. The 747 program was, the A 380 wasn't and some are already being scrapped.
Before the moon landing damn

I flew on many 747s. It is what gave me the love of flying. All these airlines now junking the queen of the sky's for these modern planes should be out out of business
RA001?
If you see the picture with all the flight attendants, From left to right, my grandma is the first green one.
Wow that's cool! What time stamp is that in the video?
It’s not in the video but if you look up first 747 on google, it should pop up
little they do know..
Boeing changed aviation , from the 707 , to the B-52 , Boeing is the best , Airbus is just a manufacturer , It didn't changed aviation , well except the a380 , saves more fuel the 747 and more passengers , but 747 still remains the queen of the skies
Elijah Cristobal 😂🔫
Elijah Cristobal well Airbus Change The Widebody Aircraft The first Made Twin Engine Ever seen
This was made 13 years ago
actually the 777 and the 747 s the best...
They should show this to Boeing workers & the board in 2024. They forgot
4K
No wonder why its slats are loud.
The a380 is bigger, sure, but this was the biggest bus you could ride for 36 years
A 380 arrived decades late and Airbus didn't realize that. It isn't even a desirable freighter airplane.
Because speed. the first try take off...
