Its a cop out so they don't get accused of making this a red state v/ blue state movie...Because there is no way in hell there is a scenario where Blue California and Red Texas team up to take on DC. I'm sure it'll make sense in whatever alternative-univese they have this in, but IRL? Never.
I think it’s likely the President seeks or is elected to a third term in office, so things all kick off.

while this movie looks really good, it's clear they kind of punted on being very realistic because they wanted both side to watch the movie. if it was clear that this was a Red Vs. Blue situation, then they would have to figure out who the "good side" was for the sake of the story. this is actually a pretty good move on their part because now the movie won't be seen as much through the prism of real-world politics.

I randomly saw this at the theater because someone knocked out the electricity in our neighborhood and I needed to get out of the house. It was both welcome and jarring to stumble upon. Wow, the way they cranked up the volume on the gunfire was a message. And quite a well-weaved "small" story about the press photographers making their way through the wasteland.
They better hurry getting this into cinemas before it's on the news

Think about it: could you KILL your Wife, Husband, Brother, Sister or Cousin, just because they were on the "Other Side" of a Political Divide? Some people think it would be like the "1861- 1865" Civil War. However, in 2020: In California, Biden won 10 million votes and Trump 5 million. In Texas, Trump won 5. 6 million votes and Biden about 5 million. In each State, the people who voted in the Minority would not be inclined to go along with the Majority. So there would be a Civil War in each State -- thus, FIFTY separate Civil Wars. Rather than "1861", it would be like the Syrian Civil War, which "celebrates its Thirteenth Anniversary on March 15th, 2024. "Beware the Ides of March".
I can see Cali and Texas teaming up right after Cali governor and politicians are removed, along with all the freeloaders. What is left after the politicians and freeloaders are gone? The real people of Cali who want it to be like it was.

Gotta say that I completely disagree. Dialogue honestly made me uncomfortable at times or was just uninteresting, the parts where they tried to be funny just lacked any humor, and the only redeeming quality about the movie was the action at the end and the visuals.

We would turn into Yemen with 100 war lords constantly fighting each other. Foreign powers moving in to take advantage of the situation claiming territory. This movie is not about north vs south or west vs east, Texas and California are just two random states. It's about the reporters who are ready to risk and loose their lifes for the photo of the century. It's a sort of "I was there, no matter what it costs". The end looks like the Soviets entering Hitler's bunker in 1945, and also then there was a reporter risking his life to take the picture.
Sorry to disappoint you, but the famous picture of the russian soldiers holding the sovjet flag on top of the Berlin Reichstag was staged. Just like that equaly famous pictures of the Marines on Iwo Jima.

Just saw this movie yesterday and I haven't felt that scared in a while, amazing experience. I am still thinking about it.

When the whistling started it made my hair stand on end. I got a bit emotional. My God. To think of actually losing this country is a very, very hard thought to wrap my brain around. I couldn't think of a sadder, bigger calamity.

This is the first one of the bunch they will be putting money on. But I guess the real "A24 flavor" won't be lost. They will probably anger, disgust and make people uneasy. But to be honest, it's better than 90% of the shit propaganda Hollywood loves to do. I hope they won't fall into propaganda territory. I hope they show both sides having their ups and downs just like a real Civil War.

My question is this: In the trailer they depicted the scene where a soldier is holding a gun asking what type of American are you. I agree there are two kinds of Americans. My question is what is the films depictions of the two types of Americans. I am really curious to know. Also, there’s no way in hell California and Texas are teaming up together that’s completely fiction. I believe there are two types of Americans that will fight each other to near destruction and one is prophesied to survive. The one that survives is the one that is obedient to the laws of God.

This movie is a drama about war journalist. The gun blaze only take in the last 15 minutes of the movie. So.... Civil wars? I think "Contemplation of a war journalist" Are more respresenting the movie
I'm not American. I am Spanish, but we also suffered a civil war in 1936, where brothers killed each other. The trailer has shocking moments, like simply the flag with only 2 stars, or the moment when it asks "what kind of American are you?" Despite not seeming like a really deep movie, it does seem very promising and interesting, so I will definitely watch it.
I'm an American and our country did have a Civil War from 1861-1864. The entire South, including Texas, declared themselves as an independent country called the Confederate States of America. Brother against Brother. Father against Son. Americans against Americans.

Just watched it in the theaters. The movie has a very serious tone to it. Its slow paced and is climactic towards the end. In the movie the US president looks like he is the vilain, with the states in open revolt against Washington. There are two apparent factions, and you get mentions of perhaps another. Anyhow the movie culminates with the capture of DC.
