  • Back when I was about 17 years old, I woke up and my dad was standing at the foot of my bed. He was pale and he had this deer in the headlights kind of look. I was scared that he might be having a heart attack. I asked him if he was okies and he told me he had a nightmare.... he dreamed that he was back in Vietnam and he saw me standing in the middle of the camp. I was 3 or 4 years old in his dream and I had a bomb strapped to my chest. He said he just had to make sure it was only just a dream. It was at that point that I understood just how bad the Vietnam "Military action" had been. My dad did two tours in Vietnam, the last one was when I was born. God bless all these soldiers who defend our freedom on a daily basis!!

But anytime me or my brothers asked him about the war his expression would go blank and he would have that deer in headlights look. After we would snap him out of it he would take a moment and just ignore the situation and go about his day. He passed when I was 12 but I knew at that young age he must’ve seen horrific being a paratrooper in Nam at only 18 years old. God bless u and ur family I wish I could’ve understood or maybe I don’t idk 🤷🏾‍♂️

He doesnt have to cry to be a man or human. His actions spoke for themselves. If anything his crying just goes to show, even heroes have a breaking point. And that yes crying is OK.
