  • The quinled dig2go has a relay in it, can receive 5v by a simple usb-c cable, has a button, and is SO much smaller, and has a microphone. It comes with wled installed too. The option for a motion detector is pretty cool, but these things just seem so bulky.

    @zoobiewa@zoobiewa Жыл бұрын

    • They are within their housing. Just take the components out and give them a sleeker home I have some sensors that are only about 2x2.5x5cm. With the case. The circuit within is tiny. Could probably strap that inline with a 16mm strip and it wouldnt be intrusive.

  • Dig-UNOs and Dig-Quads have the advantage of using any power in/out ie 5V, 12V and even 24V.... also the UNO can run two strips and the quad 4 strips from the same driver... What I also like is that they now have the ToGo version in an enclosure that's ready to go for simple 5V USB applications.

  • This is a nice board. I like having the onboard relay to control the power. That said, I have already got a bunch of Quinled Dig Uno's and Dig-Quad's that I am reallyhappy with so I likely would't look at changing them out. They all have WLED also. WLED is still one of best addressable LED controllers out there.

    @EsotericArctos@EsotericArctos Жыл бұрын
    • I actually commented on another video asking him to review the QuinLED boards because I am curious about how they work, and the guy who makes them tends to ramble a bit in his videos. He seemingly deleted the comment or it was deleted by YT for having a link?

      @Aimsucks_@Aimsucks_ Жыл бұрын
    • Also, from peeking at the board more clearly in the first few seconds, it seems like this only works with 5V which is a big oversight IMO since WLED supports so many other than the WS2812B and because 12V and 24V lights are becoming so much more popular. Something else that should be pointed out for novices is that this only allows for a barrel plug power input which are rated for ~10A (also has a 10A fuse) so you're limited on how many LEDs you can drive (around 300 total) with 5V.

      @gb1613@gb1613 Жыл бұрын
    • @@gb1613 Yes, This board is limited, and seems to use 3.3V data signal, hence the sacrificial pixel. The Dig-Uno/Dig-Quad boards have a logic converter and do 5V on the data without that, and they support multiple voltages and have an onboard buck converter to get the the Vcc for the ESP32

    @Duncan69@Duncan69 Жыл бұрын
    • ESP is a lot more powerful. Not gonna go into specs, but it can handle a much higher number of LEDs without FPS issues, and is a far superior choice in case you plan to use audio reactive setups. ESP8266 is fine for smaller and simple projects, you won't notice a huge difference.

    • both,

    • 5v X 15a = 75 watts. If you need 50 watts to power your leds, add about 20% for safety, so 60 watts. There isn’t any issue if you power supply is rated higher than your need. But you want to make sure that your lights are not higher than your power supply. Also, you can get Led lights in many voltages (5, 12,24). Make sure they match your power supply.

      @whoismoses@whoismoses Жыл бұрын
    • Higher the number of LEDs, the more current (amps) is required. Voltage always stays the same in this case (5V for this project). To calculate how much current your setup needs, multiply the number of LEDs by 0.06 (example: 60LED*0.06=3.6A -- purchasing a 5V, 4A is perfect in this case and you'll be able to drive all LEDs at max brightness safely) You can always increase the number of "amps", the LEDs will draw only as much as they need (or as much as you limited it in settings), but you may not increase the voltage because you will damage the board (due to the fact it's designed to operate on a specific voltage). If you are completely new to this, make sure you use the correct LED type (WS2812B or WS2812B Eco would be my recommendations), and make sure they operate on 5V. It will be mentioned in product description on pretty much every website (5V is the most common voltage for these strips, but there are exceptions).

  • I have a 5v 30a 150w power supply. Would that be too much for this board? I have this board installed in the project I just finished and the 75w power supply isn’t getting them all equal color. I have 392 LEDs to power. Would using the larger power supply to do power injection be a bad idea? As long as I set the milliamperes to 9500
