Alrick is The Modern Malinois because he exemplifies what it means to be the entire package. He can be confident and work in any environment with gusto, yet is safe around kids. He can bite like his life depends on it without ever entering 'fight or flight' mode. Alrick has the perfect blend of complete self-assuredness and a desire to be social. His joints are certified and his heart is pure. Most important, he is just some kind of Poohpup.

  • Thank you. Even though Alrick is VERY well trained, you still have the leash as backup. That other trainer guy with the Cane Corso that he said would attack him if he wasn't sure it was him, but then made another video on how he doesn't need a leash cuz the dog respects him and called everyone Karens that said he should have one for the safety and respect of others. Thank you for setting a good example. 🥺

    • @@modernmalinois My husband and I started doing videos because of Covid as a way to get our music out there without risking our lives and the learning curve was... a lot. I don't do that myself, my husband does the video work (bless him!) but now I know that any video is a TON OF WORK. Every cut, every wipe, every scene change... so much work! I don't always remember this when viewing so I thank you for the reminder. And thank you for taking the time and making the effort because not only are your videos fun and educational they might actually be saving dogs and humans from bad pairings. I love your dogs and have met a couple of very well behaved Malinois but wow, not a dog for me at all! Nor for most of even the most dedicated dog lovers I know.

  • So glad to have found your channel, little did I know the 3 month puppy I rescued from the local shelter was a MM, he was labeled as a Chow, but his calmness in the chaos of the shelter as our eyes locked on was the main reason I picked him. Just two days prior I’d put my faithful Border Collie of 17 years down and my void had to be filled, I hadn’t had a puppy in over 17 years, he came with the name Noodles which I quickly replaced with Ike, sounded kinda Viking. Little did I know what was in store for me over the next few months as I was trying to train him as I always had with other puppies, definitely the most frustrating and rewarding dog I’ve ever had. Ike is now 8 months old and hopefully our bond will continue for many years. Looking forward to your future videos and now recognize the potential of such an awesome breed of 🐕 🐕 🐕

  • Also big thank you for making these vids. My grandad used to have a German Shepherd when I was a child and I've always loved large working dogbreeds since then bc that dog was just incredible. I loved her so much and she was so intelligent, protective and loving that it's always stuck with me. Unfortunately I can't ever own a working dog breed myself due disability (intense ADHD and autism), so I know that as much as I adore these pups I could never properly care for one in the way they deserve. But watching these videos (and especially your shorts videos) gives me joy and catharsis at seeing these dogs do such amazing work, even if I can't have one myself, and I really wanted to thank you for that.

    @Purpeil@Purpeil Жыл бұрын
    • If you don't mind me asking and sorry if this is intrusive, but how does ADHD and autism stop you owning a working dog breed? Some things I've seen online suggest they could potentially help symptoms

      @emilyscloset2648@emilyscloset26489 ай бұрын
    • @@emilyscloset2648 no worries, I'm happy to explain! Working breeds require a lot of training to ensure they can be safely managed by the owner. They also have a lot of energy, which requires activity (often with the involvement of the owner) to help manage that energy in a positive way. My AuDHD causes a lot of different issues for me - one being that my energy and motivation levels can fluctuate drastically depending on the day, activity and more. Any executive functioning tasks and the like are also more prone to draining my mental energy far faster due to the fact that I process everything a bit slower and ED is just more difficult for neurodivergency folk in general. As such I often have days or moments where I need to spend time alone to reset or just to rest in general. This means there are a lot of days where I am bedridden or unable to do complex routines, or where I have to take my routines very slowly in order to manage them. I also have a lot of sensory difficulties, including sound, light and feel - all of which get overwhelming to deal with very frequently and require me to take a break. When I get too overwhelmed, I end up having a shutdown/meltdown that can end up being both debilitating to me and confusing/frightening to others - including animals. Dogs, especially working breeds, will need far more structure and energy than I could provide with my energy fluctuations and sensory issues. They also require an owner that is more knowledgeable on obedience training and is able to do such training frequently.

  • "Clean squeaky poo pup" ❤ I was wondering if it was poop pup as caption read but it was explained. 😂 Very informative. Thank you. I have a little gsd mix I'm fostering. He's the same way. Walked in with his little self at 5 weeks going straight for the alpha, my husky boy. Jumped right on him like they've known one another the entire time. 😂 We all sort of just watched on, jaws dropped. My husky boy has attitude but great self control. He handled it well, but it did unnerve him a bit. 😂 He knows he's my "baby puppy boy" even at 3 years. This foster is something. I've said multiple times god made him special. Absolutely no fear of anything and adores people and other dogs. There isn't one person who hasn't fallen in love with him. I was a little concerned with how fearless he is. If it could turn into negative behavior and issues down the road. I haven't seen a dog this outgoing. After this video it may be a failed adoption.

There’s something so real, and emotionally intense about it. I have so much respect for you and Alrick. And even though I will never own a Malinois myself, I will go into training my Golden Retriever with the lessons I’ve learnt from you. Of course, not as a bitework nor security dog. More so just the mutual respect and understanding that you have. Knowing their goal is not to be obedient or out of fear, but for their reward. To treat them with care and compassion while still being able to have the 100-0 control to keep everyone safe. Again, utterly impressed by you and all of your dogs. As a fellow autistic person, I look up to you a lot.

My two German Shepards acquired degenerative myelopathy at 12 years of age. They were brother and sister. They progressed for two years and it was a heartbreaking tinkering to see them deteriorate from the proud and strong animals they were to the weakened yet alert and loving babies I gad always known. I can’t imagine one of your dogs going through this same thing. Can you address this topic ? Thanks!
