Its that time of year when we like to get a bit crafty !!
One of my go to items in my camera bag and camping/outdoor gear is a good old zipped box pouch.
Theyre fantastic for organising your gear whether its a camo suit, gloves, scrim, firelighting kit and other camp essentials. They also make great protection for lenses and thats the type of pouch I'm going to show you how to make in this short instructional film.
With a half decent sewing machine, a strong needle and basic supplies and tools I'll show you how to make this pouch from 600D Cordura fabric and also add a plush felt lining. So dust off the old Singer and lets get making!!!

just made one Simon, followed the instructions & it turned out perfectly, brilliant, thanks.
Brilliant, glad it worked out for you 👍🏼👍🏼
Excellent video
Great work mate, as a dab hand at making things on a sewing machine in my job in the Navy as a survival specialist it’s always great to see other peoples skills. Nice work mate💪🏻👍
Thanks Rich, its a nice little hobby for when the weathers a bit skanky!!👊🏼👍🏼
Simon...can you do a vlog for a diy mat. I have material and would like to have a go at making one - thanks
I had no idea it was that simple. I have bought several of those types of box bags (usually sold as men's shaving or travel toiletry bags) for keeping all sorts of various items. They are so handy but now I am sure I can easily make ones in the sizes I want. Great video.
Cheers Alan, give it a go mate 👍🏼
Really happy to have discovered your channel Simon, you sure are a man of many talents! 👏👍😀
Thanks and welcome
Blue Peter eat your heart out. You're a man of many talents Simon. Sorry to hear about the house delay but hopefully you'll be in the new place soon. Have a great Xmas and look forward to more awesome videos in 2024.
Thanks Phil and thankyou for supporting the channel. All the best 👊🏼🎄
Hi Simon. I've been an upholsterer for 52 years and still managed to learn somthing from your video. Well done and have a great Christmas. Looking forward to seeing more of your great videos in 2024.
Nice one Robin, every days a school day as they say. Cheers for visiting and Merry Christmas 👍🏼
Now then, I’ve just spent the last 8 weeks, every Thursday evening with a group of ladies in Mansfield learning to sow because I wanted to make stuff like this. So far I’ve replaced a cushion zip and made my daughter a skirt but this box pouch and tent customising was what I went to learn my way around a sewing machine for. This project is perfect for next year although I’ve just bought a 2nd hand husqavarna to play with. Cheers Simon this is precisely what I was after.
Haha, you'll end up like me with a fair old collection of machines. I think I'm upto 6!! Its a handy skill to have and once you start making decent stuff its quite addictive. Good luck with it all Darren !!👍🏼🎄
@@simoneardleyI was quite jealous of that industrial 😂. Merry Christmas to you and your Simon.

Wow neat! Ay up Si. Didn't realize you made them yourself too. I thought you might commandeer and resource to the ol' ball 'n'' chain! Tell you what tho....damn sight easier making calendar's! Have a great Christmas mucker and here's to another year of reminders. Oh and top tip...I hate mincemeat in mince pies so I've got the missus using figs instead. Go down smashing with a brew lad! Stay safe mate.
Relentless to the last!!🤣🤣 I promise its happening next year.... ooooh fig pies, like the sound of that👌🏼🎄Thanks for the banter Richard, all the best for the festive season 👊🏼
Thanks for another great video. Last year I made the bean bag for my camera after watching your how to vid, I enjoyed it so much i made a couple as Christmas presents, now I will have to have a go at a box bag. lol happy Xmas Simon.

All the very best Simon for Christmas, Thanks for all the videos and effort you've put in the last year and roll on 2024.
Thanks Michael, same to you mate 🎄👊🏼
Cheers Simon, thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge. Love the way you’re old school enough to mix cms and inches in your measurements 😂, I’m just the same! And whatever you’re charging for the bags, it’s not enough…… Been a subscriber for a couple of years now, started with your stick making video (with the deer head painting) so keep them coming and good luck with the camera trap efforts. Have a great Christmas. Terry
Aah thanks Terry, yeh I was born in the late 60's so brought up when it was all changing. Ive never really got my head around metric but I try mi best!!🤣 Thanks for following the channel mate, plenty of new films to come in the New Year. Have a great Christmas 👊🏼🎄

Superb mate 👌. Who would of thought I would have sewing machine envy. Last time I followed your video making the camera bean bag my machine nearly went out the window 10 times 😂. You have certainly honed your skill since then. Have a great Xmas and new year. All the best to you and your family Simon.
Haha, only 10 Stevie!! 🤣🤣 Thanks for the visit mate and stick with the sewing.Merry Christmas🎄👍🏼

Thanks Keith and yes theres plenty !!🤣Merry Christmas pal 👍🏼
@simoneardley merry Christmas 🎅 and a happy new year mate
Thanks for sharing Simon. I think I’ve just found myself a new hobby. Fantastic video, and the way you broke it down makes it look a lot less intimidating to try out. Do you have any suggestions for reputable sites or suppliers from where to order the materials?
Glad you enjoyed it. A google search will provide you with plenty of UK suppliers.👍🏼
Lovely video thanks. Love your shirt I want one, where is it from?
Thanks Andrew, its a Craghopper shirt. The code on it is CS0304.CMS620 and MC45368. Not sure if they still make it, its a heavyweight 65%polyester/35%cotton fabric.
what size is the zip you use
The etsy link to your online shop doesn't work here.
Thanks Eigil, sorted now 👍🏼
@@simoneardley Yep, works fine now.
