    • Sorry I repost this at the right place 🙃! Generally speaking I guess I shoot myself in the foot when I want to be perfect, what I'm obviously not (far from it 😅). In french we say : "il ne faut pas scier la branche sur laquelle on est assis" = "Don't cut off the branch you're sitting on" I just add another one : "Se savonner la planche", difficult to translate but I would try "Make the board more slippery for oneself". Maybe we could say also : "to trip me up" ? A big thank for what is more than an english lesson !

  • Hi Emma! ☺💐 I think that we (English learners) shoot ourselves in the foot when we hear a new word or a new figure of speech...and we don't stop to look for the meaning of that. I started forcing myself to look for the meaning of any word/idiom that I didn't know like 3 years ago...and that helped me to improve my English so much!😇🐣

  • Hi Emma, constantly doing it. 'Cause I'm a perfectionist in many topics. Fine with the english, so far: I've overcome my shame to speak imperfect english, many years ago. Today, some say that my english (in pronounciation and vocabulary) is better than of many folks, who've been living in the US for years. I'm german. Living in Germany. My wife once joked "his interpunction is better than mine!". And she was a former teacher (US) in elementary school. But some projects I don't start 'cause I don't think I can to it well enough. And to get things done, best way is: to even start. I'm better on the cooking side: just one ingredient I can not find? Leave it out! Cooking is somewhat like learning english, to me: there will always be something more to learn. As for the cooking: that will always be true for everyone around the world. hehe!

  • I really appreciate your way of motivating us. This video clearly expresses how we fundamentally procrastinate on a daily basis with various excuses the things we have to do in order to achieve our set goals. The tone in this video, even though very friendly, is quite severe but equally honest. It should be saved and watched every morning as we start our day. Everything you try to convey is applicable to any type of goal to be achieved, which makes it doubly useful. Thank you, Emma, please don't stop producing content. Warm regards from Italy.

So I was shooting myself in the foot by learning grammar and vocabulary in the past 20 years trying to become fluent in English. I never did even if I‘m not bad in writing 😅. Now I focus on listening and speaking. It’s a much better idea and I learn more naturally and needs based. Looking forward to your new videos ❤

  • Thanks Emma..🙏 You're right, Emma. This really happens, and there is a reason for it. I will explain why. What happens is that we are not what we think we are. We are extraterrestrial beings, and our true body comes from the energy that uses this temporary avatar body, to have some experience of life on this planet. Our energy body is a body of great power that is in dormancy because of the large amount of energy we put into it through food, and we don't know how to use these energies correctly. Then we are manipulated by many other beings who often use these energies. And we only learn that way. We have evolutionary levels of development, like those that exist for learning English. The more developed we are, the more difficult it will be for us to stay focused on things in this world of illusions. That in a certain way we need some of them to have a dignified life. And all of this happens through energetic connections. We create connections with many other beings through the affinities we have with each other. I'm one of those people who struggles, and I always look for the best ways to strengthen the connections that are most important to my learning about things that are important to me. But most people don't find it easy to see these energetic connections. I've had this facility for a few years now. And they have helped me a lot so far.

  • The problem for me is I learned more advanced words to level up my English but when it comes to speak I forget everything and use only basic one 😫😫

    @enory5983@enory59837 ай бұрын
    • It's totally normal to fall back on simpler words when speaking. Learning English is a process, and every step counts. Don't feel discouraged; the more you practice, the more those advanced words will naturally come to you in conversation. Keep going, you're doing great! 💪😊
