As an introvert and a realist, Tia is the type of person that I avoid, because they drain my energy. I don't know if anyone else feels like this, but over the top happiness leaves me exhausted.

The same is true for extroverts with introverts. Extroverts have so much energy that they tend to overly counterbalance for introverts, which can also be draining. Sometimes, there needs to be a break from each other. I'm the extroverted one in my group of friends and my bestie is the introvert. We get along with each other so well, but in large groups, I tend to lead because she's hyper empathetic.

I've come across a few people throughout my life that were always happy. There was one girl in my middle school I only knew as "smiley". She literally always smiled. One day a group of kids were being disruptive causing a commotion in one of the halls, and the vice principal saw her in the area and questioned her about the noise. Her grinning made him think she was being rude. He said something like, "So you think this is funny?" I think her face went more neutral, then back to a nervous smile. Other kids had to explain to him that's just how she was. Some people are just that way.

Hey everyone, this is America. Thank you for all of the supportive comments for me, I tried to get to them all. I am working with a psychiatrist who recently put me on an antidepressant on top of my anti anxiety medication. I’m currently midway through my junior year and I will have to drop this semester because of my mental health. Mind you, last semester I made deans list and this semester I’m failing almost every class I’m in. I wanted to be real and upfront about my struggles of being born into a dysfunctional family. I felt media coverage for a background such as mine was important, and Jubilee valued this perspective. If you’re seeing this and also struggling, I hope it gets better for you. Happiness is an emotion, joy is a characteristic/attribute. You can be sad and still be joyful, you can be happy and be joyful. No one is happy all the time, but we can choose to have a joyful spirit even in our sadness.

The video was actually about joy, at least in my opinion and in the opinion of other ladies there, but since at the end of the day it's a semantics thing, we just used the word "happiness" instead since we all knew we were talking about state of being and gratitude instead of transient emotions

I've been ultra tired and didn’t want to get out of bed-but that was more about preserving my happiness & self care. I'm still thankful for another day because I have family & friends who are no longer here. I live for myself by remembering how they would want my life to be. It's all about perspective.

i think to be the happiest person in a room it’s not about being happy all the time, it’s about being present, optimistic, and expressing gratitude. i express the full range of my emotions. the sadness, anger, and happiness. by doing that i feel happy overall because i’m releasing stuck emotions from my body. trying to put on a happy face 24/7 only damages oneself by not feeling everything they may be experiencing

Smiling and laughing all the time does not equate to overall happiness. Happiness is gratitude, love, appreciation, feeling a sense of meaning in life, family, etc...... It's very shallow to assume being giggly and bubbly means you are the happiest person.

I feel so much for America. I feel the exact way she does. I don’t know that I’ll ever really be happy. I didn’t have a real ‘dad’ growing up and my mom didn’t help with my college so I have a ton of debt too. The thought of having a house or kids someday feels impossible even though I want them. I’ve tried so many medications and sometimes I’ll do okay for a while but I always end up in a pit again. I’m so sorry America feels like this too. I wish I could give her a hug and cry it out together

It’s so funny bc capitalism actually wants you to feel like you’re not enough and to have many negative thoughts so that they can sell you things to feel better like makeup skin products and a large amount of different products that are not even related to happiness
she didn't phrase it well but basically, consumerism is always selling you things that will supposedly make you happier (getting the newest phone, newer cute clothes, even to an extent 'achieving the american dream' etc.) and it's the idea of western individualism and its tendency to equate materialism with happiness when really it boils down to other sociological factors like your support system, how you were raised growing up, and your sense of self
not to mention so many people attach their sense of self worth to how much money they make (ie another capitalistic ideal)

Expecting to be happy 24/7 is a façade. Stuff happens, life happens. Happiness is not about how much you are 🌟🌠💞💕positive❣💝🌟🌠 and bright and bubbly, but really closing your eyes and being content with what you have, what you have achieved, the road you have chosen (no matter how many bumps there are in that road, or achievements, or * insert anything*). Happiness is a smile, but is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT.
Happiness is an emotion, not a state of being. It's obvious Tia is infused with joy and because her personality is bubbly, it's easy to see her happiness. One can go through many emotions, but I do find it weird when folks think others are being extra or over the top because they are so positive. They've done the work and aced it…that's all.

These “experiments” are getting weirder and weirder. How on earth can one measure happiness this way? Happiness means different things for everyone. You can be happy and still experience sadness/cry. The goal is to maintain peace. That’s why Julia was called. Maintaining peace doesn’t mean you’re always happy either. You can be experiencing lesser favored/uncomfortable emotions like frustration or sadness & still be at peace because you have the tools necessary to regulate & maintain security in yourself & your situation. Knowing you can handle & support yourself emotionally brings so much confidence. Brings peace & brings contentment. ✌🏽
