How to move forward and take the ball early with Reita Yamanaka | ONE HOUR TRANSFORMATION Episode 4
In this episode, I had the opportunity to work with Reita during a practice session, a brilliant 10-year-old with an incredible tennis mind for his age.
He played the final of the Open Super 12 Auray in March 2024. It’s the first junior tennis tournament in the world for the 12 years old.
Reita gave me some insight into his game when we first met, outlining in great detail all of his strengths and weaknesses. Because of his size and strength, we decided to focus on taking the ball early, and I gave him some tennis tip to increase shot speed and take time away from opponents.
We also looked at the importance of always creating with our tennis - either depth, or short angles - and sharpened up some of Reita’s backhand volleys and cross-court shots.
Watch this video to see how Reita transform from moving backwards ahead of shots, to taking the ball early, plus hitting a much more effective, accurate backhand volley.

THE COACH
Patrick
It's only a matter of time until we start looking back at these videos and seeing how a champion was made
I don t think he will make it, he will be too short, I have met his dad
Just because a kid can talk tennis it won't make him a champion. There are probabilities and percentages. You know this already :-)
@@loganthewolverine2030yes, injuries, genetics (height), and other factors hold these juniors back
He will be a great coach one day
chances of being a great coach = 90% chances of breaking top 100 atp tour = 1.5%
He seems to have the same enjoyment and genuine passion for tennis as Alcaraz. Always smiling and happy to be playing tennis
Absolutely love your coaching style, its even more clear watching you work with kids. The positivity, the way you handle how to improve shots without sounding like a dictator, your patience and most importantly your engagement/excitement/passion with everyone you coach shines through which shows how genuine you are and it motivates your students and viewers to improve. Oh La La, its beautiful to watch you coach!
I love that he has a single handed back hand ! ❤ single handed bh not dead :)
Wow! Cool seeing your coaching put into action. Future star!
Wow, the interaction between Reita and Patrick was a joy to watch. Wish Reita all the best.
i like this boy and his perspectives about tennis..a winner already
played him in doubles at IMG before, great player
THE PRINCE OF TENNIS
Love your attitude!
1 of your best.. love that kid ...
Patrick you the best! I watch ur videos very often!
You both are a great inspiration! Love tennis!!
Love to see a one handed backhand its alive!!!❤
Great lesson! I hope he develops taking time away from the Opponent even though he is smaller as this will undoubtedly help him progress in many ways
my fav. coach.
Learning a lot from your videos. You really bother the envious, who waste time to talk bad about what you do instead of doing it yourself. You're on the right track!!!
Raw talent
Hope this kid keep enjoy tennis
Champ in the making...
Patrick you helped me so much on tennis and i personally want to thank you
he is so adorable and smart this was so funny to watch
He is soooo cute!!!! 🥰 love watching kids strive for something they want
A single handed backhand ❤🙏🙏♥️👍
Great analysis, its what helps improvements. I'm at beginners level in my 40's and if you're aware of your motion, you can progress and adjust much faster😊
Always nice to see another upload from you
The tennis IQ of Reita...damn good!
What a smart and articulate young man! 😮
Great video! What great instincts for such a young player
Such a good quality video. Thank you guys!!
Is he really only 10.😮 good analysis. It’s better not to praise the young ones. Just encourage them. So they don’t become overconfident. But good find coach.
Very few make it and that's the truth. Noah Rubin a Wimbledon junior champion could not make a living at tennis. I hope this young boy can beat the odds and become a tennis pro and champion. Better yet, live a balanced life.
Looking forward to my boot camp
Tennis superstar in the making???
Nah
@@FL-xc1wkyou don't know that. Just because you are a loser doesn't mean he will be..
@@tomk5238well said!
Wow that's one of the best winners speech I have seen. Considering it's her first big title she nailed the speech.
i think you got a potential atp winner there patrick! kudos to the kid very rare talent
I love his backhand..
This is when you see the value of a coach. Taking a good player to the next level. If you're a bad player, any ordinary coach will do . . . as you will never need to access the nuances of the game.
Reita speaks like a retired veteran player, who later became a coach😮
Nice !
Nice vid Coach Patrick
That kid is amazing!
Omg !❤ This is 💰
Halep❤
Yes please, would love more Japanese players in the top 50
this kid talks and play better than me
Nice
Love you Sahil
nice backhand !
How much is a lesson. Or does he only work w juniors & top players?
Where he from his English very good.
all people talkin about alcaraz{that he is next nadal} but i think that i found next patrick
How can he play with such a heavy racquet??
Ethan Lauren Tennis must be sad they are not featured here
The next Michael Chang! 😂
I WANT TO ADOPT THIS KID 😂😂😂 AMAZING TENNIS PRODIGY
The jewels you get at your school :-)
Bonjour Patrick notre fille a 10 ans au Quebec comment on peut lui faire vivre une vraie experience avec toi pour quelques jours
this little guy is a future pro no doubt, such a pity he's in the hands of charlatan Mouratoglou
22:10 instant karma
Not sure if he should be hitting with such a big racket
Will beat 36 yr old Alcaraz years later?? 😊
me
With a one-handed backhand, he could reach the top 10, not the top 3.
i think that’s extremely debatable and a bit pessimistic. rodger federer had a one-handed back hand, and was one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and still beat more modern players like rafa. while one may say that that’s down to rodger’s natural talent, there’s nothing stopping this kid from becoming the best. additionally, tsitsipas also reached top 3 in 2021, and he is known to have one of the best one handed back hands ever seen in tennis. as long as this kid is dedicated, there is no reason for people like us to say that he can’t be one of, if not the best.
Unless Nike and others start offering money and spoiling this kid (do you recall Anisimova or Raducanu?)....he will become a great professional tennis player and who knows maybe one of the specials in the sport... Still to be seen...
You speak like a true communist. They should get the money whenever they can because you never know what the future holds.
@@emmettebramble10 not at all.. it's great to achieve economic results... I am talking about sports achievements, like winning several slams or at least be more consistent, which was expected to happen with players like Raducanu, Bouchard or Anisomova (passing of her dad was a big factor here to be honest)... but it is great that tennis players make a ton of money but they need to keep trying their best on court...
@juancarlosprevostzarate7077 Well, you came across as altruistic. The majority of professional athletes have worked extremely hard to achieve whatever success that they happen to have. Not all athletes are meant to achieve greatness, no matter how much we as fans want to see our favorites accomplish. Injuries happen. Life happens. Priorities change. Yes, it can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but it is not from a lack of hard work for most players
@@emmettebramble10 sure... And thank you for your coherent mature comment!
日本人として頼もしいよ
Can see the result what is happening with Holger Rune😅😂
His parents its more famiky than individual drives a reel may help anime grans dadsand the coach many families the coach is the father and mother they teach sport. Or their very frirbdships with a coach . I enjoy the rd but have many life with famiky say for everyone this age
Si seulement j'avais été un garçon... j'aurais été détecté et quelqu'un m'aurait pris sous son aile... en France. Ou... si seulement j'étais née aux US, l'éducation nationale aurait perçu mon immense potentiel sportif.
Are u not allowed to play tennis if u are a girl in France?
@@outrageousfacts576 Yes we are allowed to because of the law not because of men will. France is not Saudi Arabia(yet).
Grip looks a bit big for him
the classic youtube comment: He'll be a pro one day, i'm rooting for him! what'll really happen comment: He'll fail to be a pro and will become a coach.
The only problem will be his height when he is an adult. How tall he will be.
You people don’t understand when you are too good you we never play professional it is what it is,Messi played professional because of the holocaust his grandparents came from Poland that was and is his generational blessing,Ronaldo is not like Messi because he practiced is not a gift is a lesson ,By the way Ronaldo grandfather was Jewish too.truth don’t exist in this world now but only 2 percent of her and it stays with one person in this world and this person lives in Russia,l give you people a gift after Shabbat think think where this world is going to
Thx to Patrick my backhand is much better
Tfw when a 10 year old could kick my butt and then teach me about tennis
So many prodigies never ending up pro. Just ask Patrick about Jan Silva.
Bruh I lost to this kid 3 and 5
What a kiddo! Though I would get rid of that one-hander..he'll be completely targeted for it, because of his height and subsequently lack of power.
I got a better single handed back hand then him
He talks too much!
Unfortunately this kid talks like Patrick, so very likely he’s just parroting being perceived as something more than what it really is.
One handed backhand is no good in modern tennis.
