How to move forward and take the ball early with Reita Yamanaka | ONE HOUR TRANSFORMATION Episode 4

In this episode, I had the opportunity to work with Reita during a practice session, a brilliant 10-year-old with an incredible tennis mind for his age.
He played the final of the Open Super 12 Auray in March 2024. It’s the first junior tennis tournament in the world for the 12 years old.
Reita gave me some insight into his game when we first met, outlining in great detail all of his strengths and weaknesses. Because of his size and strength, we decided to focus on taking the ball early, and I gave him some tennis tip to increase shot speed and take time away from opponents.
We also looked at the importance of always creating with our tennis - either depth, or short angles - and sharpened up some of Reita’s backhand volleys and cross-court shots.
Watch this video to see how Reita transform from moving backwards ahead of shots, to taking the ball early, plus hitting a much more effective, accurate backhand volley.

  • Absolutely love your coaching style, its even more clear watching you work with kids. The positivity, the way you handle how to improve shots without sounding like a dictator, your patience and most importantly your engagement/excitement/passion with everyone you coach shines through which shows how genuine you are and it motivates your students and viewers to improve. Oh La La, its beautiful to watch you coach!

  • With a one-handed backhand, he could reach the top 10, not the top 3.

    @stephenkeye2678@stephenkeye26788 ай бұрын
    • i think that’s extremely debatable and a bit pessimistic. rodger federer had a one-handed back hand, and was one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and still beat more modern players like rafa. while one may say that that’s down to rodger’s natural talent, there’s nothing stopping this kid from becoming the best. additionally, tsitsipas also reached top 3 in 2021, and he is known to have one of the best one handed back hands ever seen in tennis. as long as this kid is dedicated, there is no reason for people like us to say that he can’t be one of, if not the best.

    • @@emmettebramble10 not at all.. it's great to achieve economic results... I am talking about sports achievements, like winning several slams or at least be more consistent, which was expected to happen with players like Raducanu, Bouchard or Anisomova (passing of her dad was a big factor here to be honest)... but it is great that tennis players make a ton of money but they need to keep trying their best on court...

    • @juancarlosprevostzarate7077 Well, you came across as altruistic. The majority of professional athletes have worked extremely hard to achieve whatever success that they happen to have. Not all athletes are meant to achieve greatness, no matter how much we as fans want to see our favorites accomplish. Injuries happen. Life happens. Priorities change. Yes, it can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but it is not from a lack of hard work for most players
