  • Will Drake Maye be the second QB taken in the draft??

    @ChaseDanielShow@ChaseDanielShow2 ай бұрын
    • Yes he will be the second qb taking but I believe that you have to have an intermediate passing game in your arsenal. I believe that with the right system and coaches and players Drake will be the best quarterback at the end of this season. I hope that Ryan Poles shocks the world by picking Maye with a trade to number 2 let Washington have CW I would be fine with that how many times did you see CW throwing to his TE’s hardly ever ever and this new system that the Bears will be running a 3 TE sets that’s not CW game but what do I know

Maye carried his team and didn't make excuses which means Maye is a high character, take responsibility for the team big time leader!

  • I played quarterback sometimes in high school. Seeing that third video of him scrambling to the left and then just tossing it 40 yards so accurate. People just don’t understand how incredibly difficult that is. Amazing. When you see that type of stuff coaches drool over it because they know in the NFL, they can turn that into a great quarterback.

    • You want Caleb instead? @11:07 I never see this kind of NFL throw from Caleb. EVERYTHING is off platform in some way, and people gush about it, forgetting that we've never seen a great NFL QB look/play like Caleb does. There's an array of plays/throws that pay the bills at the NFL level and Drake is simply the best at it among this class. This throw is like Brady but with more velocity.. the way he frequently just side steps in the pocket to get better clearance and then zip, completion/TD. This is all over Drake's film.

  • Accuracy, accuracy is a concern for me. Maye seems to have all the tools, but I saw him not complete the pass a number of times last year whether in the pocket or on the move that makes me scratch my head. i understand two wide receivers went to the NFL in 2023 and the offensive line was certainly not up to par. With that being said, the QB still has to make the play in certain conditions which Maye didn't do last season. Can accuracy be taught? Yeah; take Josh Allen for instance 52.8% his rookie season made significant improvement his second year, and has been very sharp since his 3rd year. Chase Daniel 13 years in the NFL ; all time great at Missouri Tigers; went to the same high school Southlake (TX) Southlake Carroll HS as Greg McElroy and Quin Ewers so Daniels knows his stuff. It's just that Drake Maye just left me wanting last season particularly on some routine throws.

He locks on targets. That works in collage but in the NFL you'll become a pick machine. That country mile pass he threw for 50 yards, I don't think that was more than 3/4 of his arm strength. You're not going to have guys running comoletley by defenders, great o line play all the time, unlimited time to throw, much more talent than the teams your up against. When you have to make plays due to lack of talent you actually closer to NFL talent gap levels than we realize. • I don't think Maye is a bad QB, but so many people act like he was on a team of nobodies. he did have a WR that is likely a 2nd round pick. Also the schedule he played against wasn't exactly great. While Miami was ranked (25th) at the time they played they finished as a five-loss team. Miami also gave up a ton of passing yards so its understandable that this was maybe his best game. I think you do a good job breaking down QBs, but you tend to drift toward hyperbole while trying to make them look good the pass at around the 11 minute mark that you say multiple times is a tight window throw when there's a yard and a half to two yards separation for example. Again I like your breakdowns, but I just think that it would they would be better if they were more breakdowns. There could be five or more QBs drafted in the first round this year and more than likely 4 of those guys won't get a fifth option picked up by the team that drafts them.

  • Is Drake as competitive as Rivers? I see he will force passes into coverage, like Rivers did. I love Drake's upside, size, and arm strength. I see he's got a little of the Russell Wilson, run if it's open for a first down and get out of bounds. One problem with that, is you don't allow for receivers to come open late and hit big plays down the field. Drake can play in any offense or weather because of his arm strength, size, and atheltic ability.

  • It seems like the biggest issue he had this year was lack of help. No one protecting him. No one getting open. He's a great player, but even the best players need help. He is the 2nd best QB in the draft. He can make all the throws and he can run when he has to. He's not a running back playing QB. He's a QB that can run. Everyone compares him to Justin Herbert or Josh Allen. I don't know about you, but I wish we had Justin Herbert or Josh Allen in Washington. Now we can, and we should take him.

  • Why so much love for flawed North Carolina QB prospects from Trubisky to Howell to Maye? Great PR departments I expect. The Commanders tried and then traded Howell so why would they draft another QB from the same system and coach with eerily similar stats (to Howell) and both deficient in so many areas. It's a disservice to cherry pick a few plays as 'proof' that Maye is a superior prospect when he is flawed. On a regular basis his footwork doesn't match his eyes, his ball placement is too often sub-optimal. He makes poor decisions under pressure. He's brave (too much so) and a good but not great athlete. He has a strong arm but lacks nuance as a passer and often doesn't throw with anticipation. Maye does make some splash plays but, in game, play to play he is inconsistent. Watch his game tape, not his highlights. He is NOT Josh Allen nor Justin Herbert. He is a bigger Sam Howell.
