2024 Suzuki Swift Sport Review | The last affordable hot hatch?

2024 ж. 2 Мам.

Great performance cars don’t have to be expensive
If you think you need to spend big to buy a great performance car, the Suzuki Swift Sport proves that isn’t the case.
While the popular warm hatch is not as cheap as it once was, its punchy engine and playful handling make it a genuine joy to drive on almost any road.
A new Suzuki Swift isn’t far away, but given there’s no mention of a new Sport version as yet, it might pay to jump on arguably the last truly affordable hot hatch on the market today.

  • This review nails EXACTLY why I’ve had 3 x Swift Sports in a row, including the current model. My driving is principally around town with the odd weekend road trip and a Swift Sport makes every drive a pleasure. It looks good, feels fast, and it’s cheap to run and service. I’m already looking forward to the next model 👍

    • @@michaelhart5886 100% I really don't get the complaint with 10000km/1 year service intervals. Lots of moving parts to a car, Less expensive to take care of it and service then have it fail at warranty end and have to get a new one especially if you get a car like this. There are still swifts on the road today with 200km+ and nearly 20 years old just due to the bare minimum of taking care of them.

  • I got the swift 2023 CNG Indian version. Similar specifications, but Indian swift has 0 gncap ratings! Nonetheless, there is virtually zero difference when driving in petrol or cng because of amazing tuning of the engine. It gives me a fuel efficiency of, let's say in petrol terms, 34.5 kms per litre in cng (actually it's measured in kgs, but for petrol reference I've used 'litres'). That's mind blowing fuel efficiency, better than most bikes in India. The immediate consequence of this is I visit the cng fuel pump once every 20 days. Great ROI. You gotta respect swift to not have major accidents as the car races from 0 to 60 in city traffic rapidly. You gotta respect the car to keep yourself and others safe too.

  • My dad has an ND Mazda MX-5. When he drove this car he actually commented on the similarity in feeling between the Swift Sport and the MX-5.

    @jacobbeattie650@jacobbeattie650Ай бұрын
    • Naturally Aspirated RWD Mazda MX-5 vs. Swift Sport's turbo FWD setup? Yep, the "big" similarities are that both are Japanese cars, with 4 wheels, low weight, very short gears, old school feeling etc. I own a Miata ND2 RF Top Revolution, there are huge differences when compared to the Swift Sport (that is a very nice car, but nowhere close to a legend).

    • I always wondered why Americans complain about this. It's not just you! Maybe American car companies nexus with the government? That's why America has 'gas guzzlers' and unreliable cars. Especially the German ones 😮

      @sushant3196@sushant3196Ай бұрын
    • It's not your government, but possibly a plot between some local producers and some guys at the Consumer Reports - that published a fake, detrimental report on Suzuki Jimny few decades ago, resulting in Suzuki withdrawing from the North-American market, even though that manipulative, damaging review done by the Consumer Reports was proven false and was taken out by CR.

      @codincoman9019@codincoman901928 күн бұрын
  • I dunno, maybe because I've driven mostly NA cars that top out at 6000rpm i dont mind that. Plus its doing the job of paying homage to the old M16A it had with its power band higher in the rev range while still giving you the business low in the rev range. If you want thrills at 7000rpm get a type R or a Golf R, but those cars arent as good for the day to day as this.

  • Had a brand new sport swift in metallic black 2021 . Had it remapped to give 162bhp and torque to 280lb/ft . Made a world of difference and truly put it in hot hatch class . 0 -60 mph went from 9 seconds to just under 7 seconds with improved fuel consumption due to remap type . Certainly turns a few heads when blasting away of the lights with BMW and Audi drivers thinking "ok whats going on there " lol . And its the 1.4 mild hybrid as well .. Why they couldnt do this as a standard set up beyond myself . Remapping was done in accordance with manfacturers recommended bhp/ torque curves and ramp parameters so as not to cause premature component failure .. wonder what a 2024 updated sport spec will be ?

  • And just like the current MX5, the Swift Sport has no spare tyre (not even a space saver). I vacillate between selling/keeping my 1500cc ND MX5 to purchase one of these practical beauties. Lusted after a Swift GTi in my 20's. Purchased one when I turned 40. Now pedal the MX5. Great video. The reviewer really hones in on the essence of this little fun machine. Every drive is an event.

Nothing ever went wrong - Most of these off the shelf in dealers aren't $30000 they are more like $34000-$37000. Having said that the servicing cost are more th. Moat my I20N along with insurance costs . Great car , I put a Remus Cat back on in that made it complete though . Had all the tech you need though.
