I like how Sorin gets excited about this stuff. He genuinely loves what he does
I have been watching for quite a while. I opened my own repair service and repairing motherboards now 😂 I dont have any formal education in electronics, just watching Sorin and AdamantIT trying to learn the practical skills I need. The best knowledge after this is to learn Linux, the toolsets are so much better than any Windows programs. Being able to run things like DDRescue, Testdisk, HDDSuperClone, Foremost, PhotoRec will allow you to perform a lot of data recovery jobs without expensive tools. PC-3000 kit cost up to 12k 😢
@@christoffer6527 I've already got the linux down pretty well. I'm more of a sys admin/network admin but looking at opening a repair shop as well one day.
@@christoffer6527 I also don't have any experience "yet". I wish to open my own repair shop in the future someday as well...
@@christoffer6527 Thanks for your comment, good to know that with a bit of application quite complicated subjects can be understood by watching a youtube 'Guru' (as they used to be called back in the day), I bought a cheap Mobo not realizing it had a debug light but I said to myself that I will fix it myself, obviously there is a time/financial limit to the practicality of this but within reason I'll do it whatever, I'm hoping that it's quite a generic fix not major surgery, for the record it's and MSI B-550 A-Pro and they do have the debug issue which is probably a bit much for the average PC user to figure out, again thanks for you comment and well done with your repairs gig!
I'm just so glad that Sorin isn't a dentist
No capacitor = No shorted capacitor! 🤗
Does he replace the capacitor that he removed and moved to where the faulty cap was?
@@travismailsa1 I have the same question.
@@luissoule Yeah because its there for filtering I think and capacitance.
Sorin, your vibe is unmatched, you're a great inspiration... One day i wish to have my own repair shop, i repair stuff at home but i'm earning breadcrumbs, i mostly do it for passion, plus a bedroom isn't the right place to repair electronics lol...
Hey man a repair is a repair. You saved things from the trash so be proud. I started the same way and now I own my own company doing electronics repair. You will get there you just need to keep moving forward even if it feels like inches at a time and don’t think small repairs are little by no means. Think about it…. You’re learning a skill and saving the earth. BTW It took me 3 years of struggle when I started my business before I was able to do full time to support my family. Keep it up!
@@shiftctrlhack hey man thanks for the support, i started repairing stuff at 12, and now after another 12 years at 24 my dream is still the same, times are hard but the hope is still there...
Hey man, same thing for me at 28! I would like to change my life by starting to do this job. Only who bets in something for its future can try to change its way. Good luck my friend and finger crossed!! 🤞
If your dream is still here 12 years later then that dream can be your future. Most people think they want to do something and then give up a year or 2 later. Your still at it which means you can do it. My biggest problem in the beginning was trying to fix every single thing and being way to broad when my knowledge set was too low. Now I fix just about everything but specialize in micro-soldering. I try to focus on no power repairs because those are always fun. Many times something can't be fixed so that is when times get tough mentally. Start with something that you enjoy repairing and make that your starting point for a business. Once that is like second nature or your really confident start fixing something else. I'm 35 now and I always wished I started sooner. Life is way to short. Before you know it 24 will be 34. Set some goals and keep progressing.@@gio0042
That's right if your going to fail you better give it your all. You can fail many times and that's fine. Failing is part of life. It's what you do when you fail. You give up or get up.... and keep trying.@@Federause
I'm still fixing them at 56 Sorin and really enjoy my work. The fault finding is my favourite thing if I'm honest and I've fixed thousands of devices over the last 25 years or so. I've been incredibly lucky to find a job I love but it's been hard work.
The capacitor did dry the alcohol at 7:59 so you didnt need the thermal camera
yes
I saw it too
I was yelling at the screen,...Wrong One!
@@williamrollinger3637yess, and plier will do job quicker
ye I could easily see it dry out really fast too.
I want to be a fly on the wall for a minute to see if Sorin cleans and re-applies that thermal paste.🤣
He never did. You know that already lol
Multumesc pentru tot, la multi ani fericiti si mult succes! Ionut🎂
Happy belated birthday, Sorin! Of course we trust you! I would trust no one more with fixingmy laptop. I know you will replace ALL the bad caps and use FRESH thermal paste every time. Thanks for the laughs and the great videos. Here's to the next 48 years!!! Life is indeed good
With the alcohol you could see the top of the cap dry. Also applying the power you can see the reflection of the light in the alcohol move when the cap heats, were on the other cap the light reflection doen not move.
hello mr sorin, i am really happy that i have watched all your videos from long time ago and today i did a laptop repair, and after figure our the main power rail i tried to find the faulty capacitor, and as you said no capacitor no shorted capacitor. i really appreciate anything i learned and wish you the best, by the way today is norouz and its a very fortune day in our society. ❤so i wish you health and happiness🌹
Lovely , not even a bad word , and we got picture 🤣
Good work sir.... More strength to you. And you will live long
good job sorin,i like your sense of humour
review the footage Sorin - the cap did evaporate the alcohol
Brilliant Sorin nice fix loved the dentist bit lol 😊
Thank you for your videos! You make my bad days so much beter. Learned so much from you.
Im 49 and still fixing electronics Sorin, cant believe your 48. - cant believe! I thought we are still in our 20's 😅😅😅
The alchool evaporate on video :) :D . You're getting old Sorin ;))
Many thanks for your video after watching 3 about the same Acer nitro 5 problems i fixed this customers liguid damaged laptop by removing the same capacitor board cleaned up and fully working
18:14 I was not expecting that background xdd
Sorin, i really LOL with this VIDEO. THANK YOU ! This is the best video ever, not for learning stuff, coz a dead capacitor it's now almost an really easy job for me, but for making me laughing that much! LOVE my friend Sorin
You gave us all a fright at the end there Sorin! Please don't do that again! :-) Great repair and video!
🤣i laughed so hard when you took the wrong cap off haha
no shorted capacitor no shorted capacitor job 😅
You know how any times I told you wrong capacitor??? 😂😂😂
Nice jobb like olways👌and do we hawe more bihainde the scene video?
We got pictureeeee🎉🎉🎉 that's crazy!
That's so true! Everybody shows shorted capacitor lucky jobs. But for me it is 99% dead CPU or GPU on laptops.
Sorin, just say after the repair you hand it to your technician (Diana) to replace the capacitor off camera..... ;-)
Great job!
I'm still waiting patiently for 5 years now for those "replace capacitor in another video" videos.
Sorin with flying colours ❤
Good job mate
I trust you to replace the thermal paste same way you would replace shorted capacitor
More gold from Sorin! I want that cool motorized screwdriver. Details please?
😂 im not going to the Dentist ever again
How come PCB way ad has a clear voice while other times its like 8bit ?
...don't hate me because i'm beautiful :D
An intriguing watch.
Hi, there was a part missing to the right of the capacitor on motherboard, when you showed on microscope . Is it factory default.
Hello, actually the alcohol evaporates on the short-circuited capacitor at the 8th minute, you must have missed it.
“This is the prick" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nice video I like it when you admit to making mistakes.....bet the dentist does not....lol
We r from India.. Love from India for u
Which heat camera do you prefer. I know you have the one that you connect to the phone and one that is a handheld separate unit. Which one would you recommend ?
Why does it work without the shorted capacitor? What purpose did it serve?
Good job.
it work fine with a capacitor missing?
how to unlock advanced setting in bios??? mine is insyde f62
Ahhhh yes, I see the fault, It's an Acer Nitro 5!! Hahaaa, thank you for another great video Sorin
Dear Sorin, Thanks for Teach us . Maybe it's better to mark the broken part with a marker next time.
no no, it's a lucky Sorin this time 😂
How do we know the value of these ceramic capacitors if they were shorted?
Sorin the Dentist - Special price for capacitor extraction.
Thanks.
Do you think undervolting is causing these issues?
👍Yea, another Perfect job 👍
its nice to get lucky once everytime
"it's like you go to dentist and the dentist, he will take out different tooth."
How did the flight go!?
Acer Nitro 5 first one which didn't kill CPU or GPU? Best to replace all caps to RIFA capacitors.
Now you have a reason to make part 3 of this video: replacing the thermal paste 😂
It was visible with alcohol, too.
sorin the dentist.... I fix it with a proper calibrated fuse.
My 'Sorin Rosin' doesn't melt like that. It stays soft but melted.
Why does shorting happen, is it because of electricity issue or what?
Isn't 2.9V too much to inject for dead short? Too risky? Isn't it usually in the 1 to 1.2, 1.3V range for safe diagnosis?
Yeah, Sorin loves replacing thermal paste as much as replacing shorted caps.
No No it's the other tooth 🤣🤣
How much do you charge for this kind of repair?
Hello Sorin You always get the same Acer
you can spot the capacitor when you dropped the alcool the first time.
age is finally catching up to soarin 😂
Use candle wax instead of alcohol, like tevz does on his TVs :)
Dar ceva este Doggy: ai scos un capacitor bun din alt loc (din greșeală) și l-ai pus în locul celui stricat dar nu ai mai pus altu bun in loc în locul celui scos din greșeală... Ai lăsat fără acolo?
Sorin I need Termo camera and dc power supply pls.
... and that was the day everybody started to call him "Sorin the (cap) ripper"
others have only shorted capacitors jobs because only that can troubleshoot
I think to buy acer nitro 5 specially to send it to you❤.
Master
Can you please explain in more detail why you are doing what you're doing in future videos? More theory please. Why does it get hot? What is the purpose of the alcohol? I'm an old technician but am clueless about board level repairs. I want to learn but it's going over my head. I would just replace the entire motherboard.
It gets hot because its short, its acting like a resistor now not a capacitor, Its sinking all the power to ground, The alcohol burns off quick with heat so its obvious which component it is. You can do it by feeling with your fingers if you want a burnt finger, or just use a thermal cam
No offense, but I've seen 9-10-year-old children who know how to replace the motherboard, that's not repair, I know this is the trend, you rarely find a good service anymore, not even the official services do repairs anymore, they replace componet , for a cost that in most cases is unjustified. Any shorted component heats up, even two shorted wires heat up, and this case was a shorted capacitor. Isopropyl alcohol was used to identify exactly which capacitor is shorted, at minute 7:59-8:00 you can see isopropyl alcohol evaporating from the capacitor that is shorted.
There is 1000 videos on this Channel. I have zero background in electronics and beleive me when I say that all of this was going over my head as well 😂 Now I am the only shop in my area with this kind of knowledge and ability to find and repair short circuits. And I still would not be able to answer simple questions about how electronics work 😂 Keep watching and learning, eventually it will click!
@@nasul9This is so true and this is how I started in my own business. After turning down a couple of motherboard jobs and after doing a couple of screen replacements that didnt work out because something was shorted, I made it my mission to learn these skills, just watch watch watch watch and watch more 😂 I dont have any formal education in electronics and I am the only shop for miles that can perform this type of repair
@@nasul9 By what Sorin is saying, most of the time he can't repair the short and has to replace the mobo anyhow. He just got lucky on this one because it's a bad capacitor, which is rare.
99.999999% of your laptop repairs from Acer ... thats insane !
It is not a problem-free laptop model, especially for gaming ones. Comparing the price with the same configuration, Acer laptops are cheaper, probably that's why they are bought more. Not even Apple Mac are rare to repair...
These Acers are keeping a roof over your head. Are they dodgy or just very popular?
Do you watch @northwestrepair ? He did your voice with AI 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't think it was that good an imitation and he totally failed to say "Hello, so we are back with a niiice laptop"
@@reggiedixon2 was not an imitation. Voice was "ai" after his voice. He didn't even bother to say Sorin's words
@@adaniel69 I know it was AI, not sure of the point as he did mimic some of Sorin's sayings but not the most frequent one
@@reggiedixon2 i like the way he makes @northbridgefix 🤣🤣🤣
Is there such a thing as a combined vpn. router and firewall in one, just thinking.
How many times have I written to you? YOU HAVE TO WAIT LONGER AFTER REMOVING THE BATTERY and resetting the bios???
why?
The failure rate on these thing is alarming. Sorin and many other channels see these things regularly. Mostly the same fault.
Why if it's a shorted MOSFET, he can't replace it?
😂 i laughed so hard!
Maiestre nu ai un facebook?
Your only 48? Thought you was 60, at least…it’s the grey…lol
Sorin, little bit longer video, please,. like 5 hours (kidding), what about 30-40min.
Why longer videos, if there is no need, and this one could be shorter. It is not a TV series to have between 40 and 60 minutes.
My most favorite part of your commercials is my right arrow key
Dentist and Repair man 😆😆😆
"Open your mouth, say Aaaaa, and lets come with some hot air"
@@christoffer6527don't forget rosin, rosin is good
hey sorin i was wondering if you wish to make a review of our companys partners nas? :) we will send it to you for free.
I'm telling you a nasty trick: you can refresh themal paste with a drop of WD40, and smear aroud with your finger.
👍👍😊😊
I know which capacitor when you use alcohol and also i know you remove the wrong capacitor 😂
Just take out all the capacitors on the board, they will fail eventually.
I told you! But i'm on italy no way you can ear me!!!
