  • Nice educational video, once again, from Sorin! It shows how important to have proper tools, if you are in this business . Thermal camera and a good lab power supply is a "must have", if you are doing these repairs. Not all workshops have them.

  • I have to wonder how much you charged him, Sorin. The Price of Rage Quit, as it were. Also, I would likely have asked if he wanted more RAM, that second slot was calling to me for some reason.

  • Dear Friends & Tech Enthusiasts, Good Evening To All, 🙏🏻☺️😊🙂🙏🏻 Could someone please share his / her viewpoint on the following questions related in context to my laptop which is Acer Helios 300 / 32GB / 1TB HDD. Mine is a year & half year lappy bought in 2022 & used very gently with utmost care? My problem is the following? Whenever I start my laptop the main keyboard (Predator Sense) lights doesn't't start as it used to be earlier. I have tried all the suggested remedies (predator sense uninstall / reinstallation, bios settings check / uncheck, Fn + F9 / F10 keys, even fresh windows installation too). No solutions worked so far? Now, i have said by the incompetent & so-called acer technical support team that, there's "might" be a problem with the motherboard? Which i don't think it will be? What shall I do now? Thank you in advance. Best Regards, Amit Mehra

    @andytipping70@andytipping704 ай бұрын
    • All 4 pins on the drain are connected to the same trace/pad, so it doesn't really matter if 1 is not connected. But yeah you're right that pin doesn't seem to be soldered.

  • Imagine how much money laptop manufacturers could save by eliminating these unnecessary capacitors and/or using wires for caps or fuses. These devices still will meet all the UL and CSA etc safety standards. What were those engineers thinking when they designed these laptops throwing in unnecessary parts like that? That no doubt will be savings of hundreds of thousands of $ for wide selling laptop models. /s

  • I fixed the problem in Balanced mode. The fan was at high speed, and was overheating. Text editing fixed it and the cpu became to run at 00% on battery. The trick to balance acer bad battery, is to hibernate at 3%, and the mouse must not be moved until the laptop hibernates. More charges are needed, 20-30 such discharges fix the laptop.

  • Why would a capacitor short if you smach it ??

    @ludodreesen1917@ludodreesen19174 ай бұрын
    • It's in the name: ceramic capacitors. They don't like physical abuse. Doesn't mean they will die if you hit a keyboard per se, but with the right amount of impact or stress at the right point, one might crack and short.
